How far off is the paint your own Oriental dragon from being ready to be sold?
May 13, 2016 at 4:22 pm #945254A few updates from Melody’s Facebook page:
Chicken progress. I am defining all the feathers for a PYO [dated May 5]
Quillin progress. He is too serious [dated May 5]. Melody is thinking of changing his hooves to paws.
Quillin profile [dated May 5] In March Melody said, “I know Kirins and Quilins are considered the same mythical animal, but the images of quilin I found look way more carnivorous than Kirins, though they both consider eating tofu to be murder. Quilins have doglike bodies, big fangs, and almost always have two antlers, not one horn.”

Well, they were being cast, then we noticed that one eye socket had a larger gap around it than the other when an eye was placed in it. I am trying to match them up better, on the master, before we cast more. He’ll be done today. Shouldn’t take too long to cast them since everything else is done, just need new rubber molds.
Always something.May 14, 2016 at 5:36 pm #945332Melody, your attention to detail and high quality standards are part of the amazing appeal of your pieces. Never apologize for setting such a high bar – we always win with your artwork!

That’s very, very true. Also, thank-you for the update! 🙂
May 14, 2016 at 10:30 pm #945352Are the baby unicorns next? That’s a lot of unicorns but I’m not complaining, it’s my favorite sculpt. I’ve been trying to think of something different for a grab bag that would be easy and small to paint. I know Pegasus are out, would griffin chicks not be popular enough? The baby dragons and baby kirins have scales….the pebbles just came out in different shift paint. An adult poad grab bag would be awesome, but back to back more expensive ones might be too much.
May 14, 2016 at 10:58 pm #945355Thank you so much, Etruscan! I think I speak for all us non-Facebookers when I say how much I appreciate getting to see the news that doesn’t make it here.
That little foop(?) behind the quillin in the second photo is cute- I enjoy his playfulness!
May 14, 2016 at 11:19 pm #945357What about grab bag fantasy wolves. Like the ones you did for eBay a while back Barn owl, Feathers, and the Anubis one. Would that be doable?
May 15, 2016 at 12:51 am #945363I loved those anubis wolves, so cool.
May 15, 2016 at 2:34 am #945365I am also hoping for more fantasy and safari baby unicorns next to go with the young unicorns.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
May 15, 2016 at 4:03 am #945375Oh, I love the Quillin! (I have such trouble not saying that in a way that rhymes with chillin’…) I would definitely vote for paws, if you’re having trouble deciding; I think it would be super cute! (What can I say? I think I just like paws; I do own four PYO Kitty Griffins, after all!)
I’m also curious, Melody, if there might be two versions of the PYO Oriental someday, the same way you guys did the PYO Kirin — one with smooth and one with ‘fancy’ edged scales? Either way, I’m excited to hear that he’s still being worked on and is getting closer to production, though!
Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).

Love the Quillin! Hooves or paws…I dunno…how about paws in front and hooves in back?
And I have to say I just love that horse head behind the Quillin! So awesome. And the cute lil critter to the right behind the chicken. Don’t know what he is, but he’s adorable and I’d want one! 😀
May 16, 2016 at 1:08 am #945397I am SO excited about the PYO Chicken, thank you Melody! I was curious, are you still planning to do a batch of Grab Bag Merle Pebble Wolves?
