Reports of Fake & Knock-off Windstones and general infringements

Ela_Hara, I wasn’t paying attention to the photos. New photos should definitely be taken to show that is the actual piece they have.

Pipsxlch, thanks. I know there are a couple of older gargoyles that I’m not very familiar with. I couldn’t tell through the really horrible paint job.

That one actually is a very garishly repainted Windstone gargoyle. Some of the details of the sculpt seem to have been worn away so he may have been painted after spending some time outside.

Hmm, looks like he is. I’ve not seen him irl, but I have seen resin ones that look like that at flea markets. Guess they were knockoffs.

Hi all,

I saw this add for jigsaw puzzles on FB that has a dragon puzzle that looked awfully like a Windstone Keeper dragon… If you look closely, the scales are in the same pattern. I couldn’t post the actual picture, but here is a link to the site with all the puzzles.

My mother and I looked up the site on ScamDoc.com and it’s obviously not a reputable seller for puzzles. But I thought it might be good to bring it to attention of the similar art style?

Don’t know if it’s something worth looking at or not, but the dragon was just too similar to the keeper dragon in my opinion! And I am always on the side of protecting the original artists content!

This IS a knock off, it’s called hydracal and I actually have one of them myself unpainted from back when my mother ran our ceramics studio. They are sometimes of hollow but not always… they are made of a very light weight plaster so they feel hollow in comparison to a real windstone. All of the hydracal knocks offs look almost swollen or bulging in appearance compared to the original. I’ve seen them in Wizards, Mother, Male, and Young Dragons primarily.
