It’s just a peacock male, they don’t go for too much on the resale market. It is retired, but still a very commonly found color because it was in production longer then most other colors.
Also, sometimes people post “too good to be true” prices to try and lure people in as well on Craigslist.

This is a recast. A good one at that, but still a recast. At least I am 99% sure it is. The eyes are painted which is a tell tale sign. Usually the people who make these are smart enough to alter the logo enough so it doesn’t say PENA right on it (hence they wouldn’t get in as much trouble for a direct recast). Which is why I say be careful and look at what you’re buying! They may have even been smart ehough to put real jewels in, it’s hard to tell. As far as knock offs go, it’s a well done one.
Also, not saying the seller made thisor intentionally is selling knowing it’s a knock off, it’s possible they don’t even know it’s a fake.
It’s a recast! I have the exact same one – they were sold in large numbers in a store called “San Francisco” in the mid to late 1990’s. I got mine in 1997. They were about $8 in the store. You will know they are a fake, the texture is wrong and there are bubbles in the surface. And the eyes are painted on, when the casts were made they cast over the eyes.

August 15, 2014 at 2:42 am #917531Anyone seen this one yet? It’s pretty old, and I don’t think it’s in production anymore. Do you think it’s worth reporting? As far as rip-offs go, it’s actually pretty cute.

Agreed! Although it’s a complete rip off of Old Brown and steals some design ideas from Melody (the baby looks just like a mini hatching triceratops!), it’s actually pretty adorable XD

September 27, 2014 at 8:21 pm #919639I feel so bad for this poor mother dragon. Why would you want to slap paint on a perfectly good dragon:
Not sure what category this falls under…

September 28, 2014 at 12:20 am #919652I saw that. If you look in the pictures, you can see that she appears to be missing a fairly decent sized chunck from the lower right of her tail crest on the show side, I think it was an attempt of a repair (a very messed up one at that)

It could have been done years ago so I’m not sure it is worth sending to John.
December 4, 2014 at 11:08 pm #922613This looks like a knock-off :
Its an all black male. Looks like maybe paint on the eyes, which also dont look like the glass eyes used by Windstone. The PENA stamp has been removed, only showing where it had been. And “Hecho en Mexico” is on a sticker on the bottom.

Yes, that’s a knock off. I have to wonder if it isn’t an unpainted version of the green dragon knock-offs. The green dragon knock-offs have those plastic blue eyes like this one has. I don’t believe there was ever a Pena stamp on it, and there could be a very good chance it was made in Mexico. I also have to wonder about the seller saying it’s in excellent condition. They seem to have some idea that it might not be a legitimate piece, but they can’t tell there’s a large chunk missing from the horn?
December 5, 2014 at 2:22 am #922621I was just coming here to report it!
