This would be a good discussion for the general discussion thread. 🙂 You can also report it to eBay through their reporting features if you feel strongly about it (or reach out to the seller!)
However, this isn’t a knock off or an infringement, so probably not the best place to debate eBay seller practices. 😉
February 22, 2012 at 6:11 pm #874258Meh, doesn’t matter that much to me. I just don’t know anything about ebay (I don’t use it, if I want to buy something from I have my dad do it, lol!) so I dunno how to contact the seller… ‘n didn’t think the forum needed cluttered with another thread. So I’ll leave it be, if someone wants to tell the seller then have at…
March 2, 2012 at 7:59 pm #875526Not sure if this would be an issue or not

March 2, 2012 at 8:09 pm #875527I had one like that . It’s just a bat winged cat . It was cute . Got rid of it last year .
March 4, 2012 at 6:16 am #875680Puff, your link isn’t working, but this is what it is: http://fav.me/d2jtqog
While I was searching I found this too, but I don’t know if windstone has a rule against drawings… http://fav.me/d1s5jz8
March 4, 2012 at 6:39 am #875681Yep! That’s the one! Thank you so much! (It’s strange! I checked the link and it works okay on my computer. I guess it has a mind of its own!)
-That’s crazy that someone drew the Windstone Ki-Rin family and posted it on there! I would think they would’ve needed to ask permission first to see if it was okay or not…
March 4, 2012 at 6:41 am #875678Huh… I came across this sculpture on DeviantArt. It sure looks a lot like the production colored Mother Ki-Rin. 🙁 (In fact, this person openly admits that she copied her Windstone piece so she could mount it on her wall…)

(Thank’s for finding the right link, Scenceable!)March 4, 2012 at 3:25 pm #875693Sadly, that sculpture is definately a problem… send it to John. 🙁
The drawings aren’t technically okay, either– but I don’t know if John goes after them or not. It might be worth mentioning.

(Sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask this question) … Is there any sort of “fair use” provision for the Windstone pieces like there is for written text? For example – I have not done this – if someone translated the image of a Windstone piece into a needlepoint cushion for her sofa, does this violate the Windstone copyright?

There is “Fair Use” in art– yes! But, there seems to be a misunderstanding what fair use is. Translation of media (e.g. copying someone else’s art into a different media, such as cross stitch) is not “Fair Use” unless it somehow falls under the definition of fair use. My art: featherdust.comApril 23, 2012 at 6:57 pm #878720Hi
Im new to the forum so I hope Im posting this in the correct spot…
I think I own a Windstone fake, a copy, although I am not sure.
It looks like this : http://www.astralcastle.com/windstone/wsframe.htm (see Young Dragon (peacock) )
Coloration is almost exact, except for a few spots of pink which are on my piece. Also the eyes do not appear to be glass (unless they were painted over). And the pupils on my dragon are larger than what is shown in the original piece.
On the bottom there appears to be a layer of glue, whatever was originally on the bottom (felt?) had been removed. And on the back side of him, near the tail base, there is a signature/date . It is hard to make out, but appears to be PENA with copyright sign then a 2 digit year.
I cannot remember where I originally obtained this piece, for I have had it for well over 15 yrs now. Im not sure if I had purchased it from a store or obtained it at a flea market. I wish I could remember….. 🙁
Is there any chance this is a legit windstone, or is it a copy? Any ideas?
Thanks !
April 23, 2012 at 6:57 pm #878721Hi Amstaff!
The link that you provided looks like it just goes to the Astral Castle main page – do you know what type of dragon it looks like? Can you possibly take pictures for us? If you have trouble posting them I’d be happy to help you out with that.

Sorry I went back and edited my post…(once I realized the link didnt work right)… its a Young Dragon (peacock).
Does one have to host pictures elsewhere to post them here, or can they be posted here directly?
April 23, 2012 at 7:14 pm #878723You need to host the pictures elsewhere – if you have a photobucket account you can upload there and then pick the code for HTML below your uploaded picture, then post that code here, and we should be able to see it.
Thanks!
