Where did you find Apoxysculpt BDW? Is it very expensive?

It’s hard to find Apoxie Sculpt in stores. If you look a few posts up siberakh1 listed a Web site you can order it from. I believe it’s the manufacuter’s Web site.

I purchased it online from this reputed seller:
            horsemodels.com on MXC
            or here: http://www.sculptingstudio.com/index.php
PS: they are the same seller ๐Ÿ™‚
            http://www.sculptingstudio.com/index.php?target=categories&category_id=2
I recommend for just the one time fix-up that you buy just a small amount, Apoxie Sculpt 1/4 pound kits:
            http://www.sculptingstudio.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=1
If the work demands more apoxie then go for the one pound:
            http://www.sculptingstudio.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=2
For Kyrin I’m sure she uses the 4 pounds.
The stuff doesn’t last forever so it’s important to buy just what you think you need.

Wow, thats incredibly helpful. I might try this myself if i get screwed over by Fed Ex (fighting to have my Scratcher replaced that they shattered). I figure the dragon is broken beyond what i considered repair, and If i’m going to be stuck with the thing, I may as well at least use him as a practice piece for this. And if he turns out well, super! I’ll repaint him a fun new color. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for taking the time to share this with us!

Oh- as far as paint color, I think Grumbacher (but that may not be the right company) makes some paint in tubes called “Interference paint.” it goes on beautiful over black and is iridescent too. I’ve used it on a latex dragon I painted black and it turns out really close (IMO) to the windstone color. A lot of the PYO artists use it too. Just a thought.

If your looking for interference paints I know Golden makes a wide variety of colors. I use them all the time and can vouch for the quality. Here are some links I found. Also I know Michael’s , the craft store, carries Golden brand acrylics – or at least the one I go to does.

For those who are looking for Apoxie Sculpt, try checking out your local Taxidermist Supply. That’s where I found mine here! Plus Taxidermy Supply houses have all kinds of neat stuff! ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for the tutorial, drag0n – it’s neat to see how such a sorry-looking sculpture can be made to look presentable again.

Well, since this thread got dragged up, shall I post my new repair as well?

*it might be a few days since I can’t upload anything on my laptop at the moment because of my firewall* but I’m fixing up one of the broken Gargoyle dragons I got from Maplecarver.

I didn’t take nearly as many photos of the process as I did with the Male, but here that are

I still need to get the paint a little closer on the wings, but he’s basically done.
