That’s awesome detailing! I may not notice things like that in pictures, but I sure notice them in RL.
My keyboard is broken. I keep pressing "Escape", but I'm still here.
November 27, 2017 at 7:14 pm #1532383Thank ya guys! I love little details too, even if the aren’t immediately visible, I think they can be fun lil discoveries.

How long does it generally take you to complete a piece from start to finish?November 28, 2017 at 5:39 pm #1532418It really varies from piece to piece, I think one I finished a Kitsune in a week and half, but it took me more than a month of constant painting to finish a oriental dragon.

Not currently open for PYO commissions.December 3, 2017 at 6:10 pm #1532624Currently working on the ‘mane’, next with be ombre-ing the fins. My question to you guys is: Does the ‘mane’ look weird or off in comparison to the body/tail? My usual instinct is always to go matchy matchy with the mane and tail/fish parts, but I wanted to try something different by making the mane part less green but not sure how it’s working together, should I go more green? Thoughts and opinions?

I’m glad you think so, that was my hope it would come across that way. Maybe once I finish painting all the fins that will really help too.

Not currently open for PYO commissions.December 3, 2017 at 7:58 pm #1532638I like how you have the mane. I think it is all tying together really well. Can’t wait to see it when you get it all done!
Looking for:
"COSMIC SHIFT DRAGONS and KI-RINS" and the "OCTOPUS TANUKI TEST PAINT #1"December 3, 2017 at 8:20 pm #1532643I think the mane is good the way it is, and the hippocampus is looking very pretty. 🙂 Matching the mane to the tail would be a LOT of green. You don’t want to overwhelm the lighter horse section (in my opinion).
December 3, 2017 at 8:46 pm #1532646Thanks you guys, that makes me feel better about the direction I’m going in!
Etruscan- Before I tried this direction I had actually painted the mane all green to match the tail but didn’t love it, since it did really overwhelm the light grey. But then I wondered if I had gone too much in the other direction with not enough green…but now I’m feeling better about it!

Not currently open for PYO commissions.December 4, 2017 at 5:47 am #1532649I like the ombre effect on the mane! If you wanted to bring a little more green to the front half, you could tuck some green gems into the swirls, but otherwise leave it alone.
Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).
December 4, 2017 at 6:35 am #1532651I think the mane is perfect <3 There’s consistency without it being overbearing.
December 4, 2017 at 8:30 pm #1532687Thank you Nightcrow & Zexious!
I think she’s really coming together now, won’t be long before I’m finished with this one. And I already am craving a Kitsune PYO to paint next, maybe more than one even, hehe.

Not currently open for PYO commissions.December 23, 2017 at 7:06 pm #1533515Yay, finally done!! I’ve finished Ophelia! I’m very pleased, I think this is the first Hipp I’ve done in all matte finally, I think the other ones were half matte half glossy? I think all the dark colors in matte make the whole piece much more dramatic, like an old painting.
Also, does anyone else have a problem with one of the eyes not fitting as deep in the socket of this sculpt? I always seem to have Hipp’s that have one eye that just doesn’t sit in as far as the other side.
All I need to do now is wait for a nice bright day to take outdoor pics! But these cellphone ones will do for now.

And yes I’ve had eyes seem to sit at different depths on a few sculpts. Most noticeable for me recently was the PYO Oriental Dragon. But I’ve had that issue with the hipp too.
