No worries, GB. I still have work to do as well on mine. Almost done though 😀

I just have to finish antiquing mine – and glue in the eyes! I love not having the eyes in. I never took them out because by the time I remembered I could try, I had already started painting. Doh!

And I was going to suggest that the participants further away in the world should get the addy first to give their pieces more time to arrive, but I’m afraid I’d get lynched 😀

I had to touch up the spray on sealant on my piece the morning as it was very uneven. I’m a little nervous because the finish got cloudy (I’m thinking due to the humidity outside). It’s in my son’s bathroom right now with the lights and the vent fan on but it isn’t clearing up. 🙄 I may have to use the other sculpt I have here to do a new one and then strip that sucker down to do what I was wanting to use the other sculpt for.

OKay, I think everything is set everyone. When I get out of work in a few hours I’ll start sending out the addresses!

My picture’s been sent now. I’m beginning to think the cloudiness was too much spray sealant and not the humidity. Either way my piece will be sitting in the window where it can get some sunshine until it’s time to box it up.

Good–better than trying to start over. I use Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish and it tells you on the bottle that over brushing or vigorous brushing may cause it to fog after it dries to I’m real careful. Nothin worse than getting something completed only to mess it up with the clear coat–I’d be upset and stressed!

I normally use the exact same thing (Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish), but it is super glossy and I wanted a satin finish for the piece (though it’s ending up slightly glossy because of overspraying 🙄 ) and I haven’t seen a brush on satin finish yet.

Now I can finally start on the piece that was screaming at me to be done before the swap started.

What would you use to strip a piece??

I use the FolkArt waterbase finish – it’s satin and it’s the only one I use, as I’m not a huge fan of gloss finish (though my bro said that if I used glossy, my piece would look more professional).

Depends on the stage I’m at. If the paint is still fresh (within 24 hours of application) some warm water, dish soap and a soft bristled toothbrush can get most of it off. If the paint has been on longer (or the piece has been sealed) I use a non-acetone nail polish remover to strip things off, followed by the soapy toothbrush to get left over residue.

Once I do that I give a piece a full day before putting any new paint on it.

I’ll have to keep an eye out for that the next time I’m near a craft store since my Wal-mart doesn’t carry craft paints.

Okay, I have started sending them out. I’m about 1/3 through the list. My stupid computer at work doesn’t copy and paste so it’s taking forever. LOL!

I’ll post again when I’m done so everyone can confirm they got their email 🙂
