This artist contacted me about the doll eyes he produced. They are flat glass cabochons, with paper backs on them.
I don’t know how well they would work in pyos but they might be perfect for sculpey sculptures, dolls, jewelry and what not. You might want to check them out, they look really pretty! http://www.etsy.com/shop/nixcreations

Those are pretty nifty! I like the color options. Still, they definitely don’t have the same depth as the ones used for windstone figures. I think I prefer the realism.

I agree with chem. The only eyes that I can stomach using in Windstones have to be the 100% glass kind ๐Ÿ™‚ So far, only true taxidermy eyes live up to the standards that I think Windstone has when making their glass eyes!

These eyes are really lovey, for sure! But paper backs generally means that they can be fallible – which is to say that no matter how well they are glued on, they could come off or get discolored when using a glue on the back of them. They may be fine 90% of the time, but there’s always that possibility! As Melody said, they may be best suited for use with sculpey and other projects ๐Ÿ™‚

I would also prefer to see some actual photos of the eyes instead of the photoshopped image of the eye :/ some of the pictures do seem to be the actual cabs, but a lot of the really vibrant looking ones are pretty clearly just the image they are using instead of a photo of the completed piece.

I think I agree, glass taxidermy eyes look best for PYOs! The first time I ever put eyes in a PYO I couldn’t believe how life-like the glass made it look – they’re truly the icing on the cake. Sweet, sweet icing.

I’d probably use those eyes more in jewelry though, if I made that kind of thing. ๐Ÿ™‚
