Customer service has really gone to the dogs. In fact, I don’t think that it can be called customer “service” anymore!
It may take a little while, but in the end, I don’t see how they will have any choice but to reimburse (you or Windstone). After all, they don’t actually have any proof of delivery.
Oh, it was one I already claimed. She was holding it for me and I sent payment and was wondering if she’d shipped it yet. But I know life gets in the way sometimes 🙂

That’s why I don’t usually ship UPS. FedEx is pretty cool, usually cheaper, (and the lady at the local branch is super nice and always talks to me when I go in there-which is at least twice a week) and KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!….I have not received any package shipped FedEx that was broken. I’ve gotten 2 broken packages from UPS. The first one was a male griffin. A UPS rep came to my front door the next day and inspected the damage. It was a clean break and was fixable, so I opted to keep it, but they offered to take it back and give me my money back, or pay to have it repaired (at that time, no one was publically repairing Windstones) That was approx 2007 or 2006
The second one was in 2009 for a set of 1970’s Sears Merry Mushroom Canisters and kitchen items. I paid at LEAST $80-$100 It was a whole set-cookie jar, flour, sugar, coffee/tea, S&P shakers, spoon rest etc etc. I was so excited, the design is pretty cool-and they arrived broken. Some survived, some didn’t. The seller was some random person on ebay. UPS, as you said, only works with the shipper-as the recipent, the person WITH THE BROKEN STUFF, they were rude to me, and REFUSED to discuss anything. I contacted the seller, and she claimed she was so upset they were broken, she’d had the set in her kitchen for years, blabity blah. Well after that, she pretty much stopped contacting me. UPS reimburses the shipper too. I never heard whether they paid the claim or denied it. As far as I know, the seller could have pocketed off the ebay sale, and THEN pocketed the refund if there was one. I was left with maybe half of what I had paid for.
I know as far as a damaged item, UPS is much less likely to honor a claim if THEY didn’t pack it.
I shipped a repaired Emperor to someone, but because I didnt have an emperor box and didnt trust my own packing skills for something like that, I had UPS pack it in their “pack ‘n’ ship promise”. They double boxed it, and wrapped him in lots of bubble wrap and packing peanuts-the way you’re supposed to…and the Emperor still got broken. I, as the shipper only spoke to them ONCE regarding the situation. I’m sure they had to have honored the claim, since they packed it and they shipped it, its on THEM that the dragon got re broken. Well, I never heard anything else from them nor the buyer-so I guess the buyer got her money back-but isn’t UPS supposed to deal with the shipper? Things with them dont add up.
I think, in the end, the shipping service is only as good as the care we get on our end. Some of us love UPS, some hate it, some love FedEx, some hate it, some love USPS, some hate it! Just like any store in a retail chain… it’s the local management, etc, that can make or break an experience with the place.

Fairyhearted has a brown eyed palomino in her trade thread that I like, but I would probably rather have a blue eyed palomino. I’m not fussy about the pattern, I just really want a golden colored body with a blonde mane and tail. Blue eyes would be the cherry on top 🙂
