It wont be a problem when they have pads, but right now we are just trying to get rid of a bunch of old “round bottom” castings that we can’t put pads on 🙂
And there we go – a solution! Whaddayaknow.
I think some of us would gladly take a stamp with a “D” under it instead of a felt pad.
And further derailing the thread a bit, Pam, if I may ask, what is this “dunking” before painting step? Maybe it’s been mentioned already, and I missed it, but I’m curious about the process.
It is when we dip them in water. There is salt or something that forms on the casting as it dries, and it needs to be washed off before painting.
August 28, 2014 at 1:25 am #918054Here’s my little cutey…my first non-dragon Windstone (well, except the PYO Flap Cat I still haven’t started!) I think she’s lovely with her mix of grey and red and her little brow stripes. I would be open to trade for the right tortoise shell or tuxedo (black and white) to match my real life, kitties, though! Or if someone just desperately loves her, I would be willing to sell her for the price I paid. She certainly has a home with me, but if she’s someone’s favorite I would like her to be theirs 🙂
August 28, 2014 at 1:28 am #918055Here is the Kitty I got:
Out of all the Cats I could of got, can’t believe I got one that is almost all black…:D
As I was opening Rodney’s, he blurted out how he wanted a brownish one to match his GB Colt and here is what he got:
Rodney has named his Cat “Tabbs,” since she is a Tabby. I have not come up with a name for mine yet. I know that some people are looking to get cats that resemble their Kitties of the past and present. Doubt mine resembles anyone’s Kitty, but I know that the one Rodney got certainly does. I’m not sure if he is opened to trading, he’d probably be more open to selling. Pretty much, if anyone has their heart set on the Cat Rodney got, shot me a message and I can ask him…;)
I’ll take much better pics tomorrow. The sun has gone down and my apartment doesn’t have the best lighting I’m afraid. We both also go the cutest little Fuzzies.
The one Rodney and I went halvises on should be here Friday, can’t wait…:D

Melody has been planning to give them pads for a while now 🙂 Next week I think we are even going to start casting the new flat-bottom Lady cats (and we should be getting their pads soon!). But unfortunately we already had a bunch cast that the pads wouldn’t fit on.

That’s still great news! I figured there was a good reason for the weird little D being there, I’m just glad the fix is already in the works, especially since it (hopefully) solves the problem of these guys being difficult to paint! Two birds with one stone 😀
Kemuri, yours is beautiful!
And Pheonixx – what luck! So cute that Rodney called what one he was going to get 🙂

August 28, 2014 at 1:46 am #918058Mashubert I will let you know what I get! Kemuri Dragon I also love yours. It’s hard to tell but is yours also kind of a Siamese? I would be happy to get one grey Siamese or a flame point Siamese so we will see what I get.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

Last question, I promise =P How long do you let the piece dry before painting them after dunking them in water?
Just filling in the steps in my head of the timeline of a piece from first being poured into the mold to eventually being boxed up for sale.

I don’t think she looks much like a Siamese, Kim. She has the darker tail tip and ears, but the stripes I think throw her off. I hope you get one you love!!!
August 28, 2014 at 2:42 am #918069August 28, 2014 at 3:02 am #918071I was hoping for a Lynx Point that looks like our beloved family pet, and I got two that could be her parents! A grey tabby and a blue point Siamese. I told my 6-year-old son that we need to give them names so he gave them names! Here’s “Julie” and “Alex Trebek”:
Haha! Alex Trebek! That’s the best name EVER.
