Got mine! I am pretty darned happy with them 🙂
I got a Siamese and a Calico! Two of the types that I was hoping for! I *might* still trade one of them for a kitty that I like better – it’s always hard to tell when looking at the class photos which ones you’ll truly fall in love with – but it’s a good possibility that I may like another cat more, so don’t hesitate to send me a PM if you love one of mine. The other cats that I have my eye on are mostly the tabbies that have the pretty swirl of color on them 🙂Here are some outdoor pics:
And some indoor shots:
And I know this is a “No nitpicking edition”, but.. I gotta nitpick about something. This has NOTHING to do with the paint job or any flaws in that – they look wonderful! I can see some tiny blemishes and things but it doesn’t even matter! However, the one single thing that bothers me is that “D” on the bottom underneath the paint job and the stamp >< I can see it on both of mine – it's clearer on the Siamese but it's still there under the white on the Calico. It just stinks that the pretty silver stamp is effectively marred by the scrawled "D" on the bottom there. Could these be written in pencil and erased before the final paint job in the future? I realize that this is the bottom of the piece and I won't look at it too much, but it's clearly important to Windstone that their pieces meet a high quality standard (especially given that these are a 'no nitpicking edition' and I LOVE the natural flaws on the piece!) and this just seems like an oversight. From looking at the bottom of the Calico, it seems that Melody treats the bottom of these as a continuation of the art, and I love that! But that "D", man… that "d"… /mini rant
That’s why I want to have pads for them.
August 27, 2014 at 11:24 pm #918027…yea but with pads I can’t spin them like tops on my coffee table ^_^
I think erasing that D is going to be a lot of extra work and too much to keep track of to know what has been dunked vs what hasn’t been dunked if they don’t put them on the sculpt at all in the first place.

It could be avoided by using a small sticker instead, or a pencil that can be erased before paint is put on. Or felt pads. Or the bottom getting a darker colored paint coating so it hides it.
The end result is unfortunate, and I’m certain there’s some way around it.

If there were ever a mix up though and not dunked items were painted I’m not sure how many bad problems that could cause. You have to think, are you more unhappy with your “D” on the bottom of your Windstone or getting a defective piece in a limited edition grab bag where a defective item may not be able to be replaced… or if you wanna pay more for them I’m sure they could erase all the D’s… time is money afterall.

Mashubert your two Siamese look just like my lynx point momma cat ‘Cookie’ and one of her kittens. We found the kitten a new home but still have the momma. My two pebble cats won’t be here til late next week probably so I will have to wait out all the cool pics from everyone else in the meantime.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

Kim, I think I remember them from the photos you posted. Let me know what you get when yours arrive, if you’re interested in either of these.

If a not-dunked sculpt gets painted, it will eventually start growing white crust all over. There is no way the fix it.

So yea… I think the “D” is well worth that risk! LOL!

And there we go – a solution! Whaddayaknow.

I think some of us would gladly take a stamp with a “D” under it instead of a felt pad.
And further derailing the thread a bit, Pam, if I may ask, what is this “dunking” before painting step? Maybe it’s been mentioned already, and I missed it, but I’m curious about the process.
