I just finished the book and it’s great! Has anyone else read it?

Basically it’s the story of a group of marines called the Lava Dogs from Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii who find a 5 week old puppy in Fallujah during 2004. It’s against military rules to adopt animals in war zones but the marines do anyway. Even though they all figure the puppy, Lava, will die at some point. But Lt. Colonel Kopelman makes it his mission to get Lava to the US against all odds and regulations. If you tear up during Hallmark movies you’ll cry your eyes out reading this book.

Besides the story of Lava it is an eye opening account of what life was like in Fallujah and Baghdad during 2004/2005. It makes you wonder how any of our military personnel make it back in one piece.
