This is my first kirin, it’s hard to tell but I did try blending. The side scales are metallic purple at the top and blend to metallic blue at the bottom, much easier to see in person. I really don’t think the photos do her justice, in person she’s really quite cute π She does need a name though!
February 22, 2009 at 6:39 am #630318Very nice. π I really like those side scales.
February 22, 2009 at 7:25 am #630319He’s adorable…I like his side scales, the blending looks really good and his face is just too cute …. π He’s really cute.

Have you tried antiquing? I think you might like it if you did. =D

February 22, 2009 at 11:02 pm #630323Thanks so much guys!
Kitsunelady-yes I agree!! I did start to antique the fur, clear coated before hand and everything, but as soon as I started it looked terrible π So I wiped it off π I am not sure if it was a flaw in what I was doing, or just that the color I was antiquing with was a bad choice. I was also worried about one thing, since the muzzle was already lighter than the rest of the fur, would I have antiqued it too? Or just stopped short of where the lighter fur was? π
February 23, 2009 at 6:05 am #630324You could have antiqued the muzzle too. It wouldn’t have affected the base color and it would still appear lighter than the ret of the fur.
Nice kirin anyway! I love the shades of blue.February 23, 2009 at 8:13 am #630325You could always antique the muzzle a shade lighter than what you were antiquing the fur. But if you are trying to keep it simple for yourself, then using the same color (or no antiquing) would be fine as well. Anyways, I can see the blending on the face and it looks good. Congrats on your first kirin π
