There was no antiquing on this one Em…I HATE to antique… π
Thank you everyone! π
Well, the dark coloring that makes it look like it’s really fur and has depth then. I always call it antiquing, whether it’s actually done that way or not. It’s pretty.

Shoulda asked for a Ki-Rin…Maybe we can work something out… π π I wouldn’t mind another Griffin. π
(Em, I didn’t mean to sound snotty if I did. π³ I just absolutely hate to antique if I don’t have to.)

Nope. No worries. I’m not offended. π I just don’t know what else to call it when you put dark color in the crevices to get it to look 3D. Is there another term?
Anyway, I think it’s very pretty. You did a good job. I need to practice my painting more, but I need to find some time. π
April 19, 2008 at 12:29 am #639637No. It is still called antiquing. I just paint a darker color for the basecoat, and then apply alot of thin coats over it usiong the dry-brush technique. I find I don’t have to deal with the art of wiping just the antique off and not the paint that way. π π π
April 19, 2008 at 1:31 am #639638I love that kirin!!! That red is something else!!! You definitely have to paint this color scheme for me someday!!! π
April 19, 2008 at 8:36 am #639639Wow. I love him! His colors are perfect in every way. And I’m so glad you got the gray eye to blend in so well! I was afraid it would have looked odd, but it doesn’t at all. Can’t wait to see him in person π
Would have been neat if he had a silver horn… but I’d probably be even more afraid to try, since I’ve never removed the horns or used silver leafing! π―April 20, 2008 at 3:08 am #639640I am new, but this is for everyone who does the PYO thing…do you all have backgrounds as professional painters? I couldn’t paint like some of you if my life depended on it.
April 20, 2008 at 3:10 am #639641Nope. I would call mine a hobby. I just like to paint. π ……..ALOT. π π

Nope I’m not a professional painter. Only thing I paint is the PYOs for fun and maybe a little cash if I sell one.

Not a professional painter but I LOVE painting PYO’s! I do draw and such… but not a professional painter. π

I think you might be surprised at how well you could paint one. All of the talented people here share their tips and secrets. You might not be able to paint like a “professional”, but there’s nothing like having a pyo Windstone that you painted yourself. π

But, just incase I couldn’t I had bought a red eyed Ki-Rin too. π
April 21, 2008 at 6:19 am #639646The kirin looks great, WSC! You’ve really gotten good with the PYOs.
