Certainly it could be done… if we had more of the paint! I used the last of it on the curlies.

Where did the paint come from originally? If it is frightfully expensive, maybe the color shift hatchers can be the first Kick Start project…

Yes, we were considering doing a kick starter to buy more of that fabulous paint! Yes, it is hideously expensive.

I am not sure how the colour changing paint works but I would also love to see it on some dragons like fledglings!

Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

The colour shift paint is automotive paint right? I can see why that would be pricy! Those curlies certainly did look really cool!

                      Excellent!

There are suppliers who sell the pigment that the Automotive Paint companies order from. You can easily buy them and mix your own. I have some…There are a couple of places to get it from, I have links to two.

The pigments can be mixed into any carrier base.

This may be a very dumb question for everyone who has been painting recently, but I haven’t painted with acrylics for over 30-35 years and things have changed so much. The last time I painted figurines or models Air Brushing had not been around, and paints were used out of tubes and brushed on, not mixed with powders, to give you an idea of how long its been.

My question is what do you mix these pigment powders with? Can you suggest a specific brand medium or ‘carrier base’ as Dreaming Tree Studio noted? It would be very helpful to me. I’ve gotten a few PYO pieces recently and have just started researching the many paint options. One of these Solar color-shift or Chameleon paints look really interesting to try.

Thanks for any suggestions from anyone. 🙂

I found this in the “Paint Your Own Windstone” thread. It might be helpful – I don’t know enough about paints and painting to tell. 🙂
