Just like that? That’s awful, eaglefeather! Best of luck to you and KC.
November 4, 2008 at 10:26 am #738529Not good…you guys might want to apply for Welfare, yes i know that hurts one’s pride, but it would help cover groceries and such for a bit.
Hang in there, and I hope a new job comes quickly.

November 4, 2008 at 12:59 pm #738530There is nothing wrong with welfare, thats what its there for. Its just a shame that some people abuse it and give it the stigma it has. Back when Danny had to quit because of his illness I tried to apply for welfare and whatever other aid was out there. They told me I made too much money and didn’t qualify. There are tons of programs out there to help you in your time of need, don’t be afraid to use them. I’m sorry you have to go through such a rough time.
November 4, 2008 at 2:56 pm #738531Absolutely do look into the various options out there; they vary from state to state. We got lucky in the fact that I WAS pregnant, because the company that laid Roddy off got stuck with the WHOLE bill for a high risk, premium pregnancy – it was considered a ‘pre-existing condition’… Hang in there! It’ll all work out for the good!

Okay. Do you know what programs that could be useful? I know of WIC, foodstamps, and Medicaid. Fortunately Chloe still had health insurance, but until another job comes around, KC and I do not have any health insurance.
I hope a job comes soon!

Sign up for all of them, those you don’t qualify for will be weeded out. But it’s easiest just to apply for everything that you might possibly qualify for and see what they say.
Good luck!

Thank you everyone for being here for me. It’s nice to know I am cared for. 🙂
November 5, 2008 at 4:29 pm #738539Stresss.stress…theres too much stress in this house. There is a job that KC and I really wants him to get, but we are nervous about it. We will find out by Friday or Monday. If he doesn’t get a job soon, I don’t know what we’ll do. 😥
November 6, 2008 at 6:42 pm #738540Big hugs to your family! THINK POSITIVE! We are all sending you warm job fuzzies and lots of love!
November 6, 2008 at 9:43 pm #738541Eaglefeather, you can do what I did. I was out of a job for over a month and still had bills coming in. I was suuuper stressed (and thats part of the reason I disappeared for a while) until my boy’s mom suggested I go to a temp agency or hiring agency. You go, fill out paperwork, and since I was looking for an office job, they tested me on my computer skills. Then THEY look for you a job. Free for you! It was a matter of a week or two. And go to at LEAST two different agencies, so if one cant find you (or KC in this case) a job, then the other can. Tell the agency that you’re willing to work temp. Sometimes a lot of companies will need to fill a position, but dont want to hire just “someone” off the streets. So they will go through an agency. Again, they don’t want to commit to someone they havent met, so they will hire that person on as temp, and sometimes, they will hire you after they see you’re a good worker, an always on time, and always ready to work. But, if they dont like you, or you dont fit the kind of person they’re looking for, its easy for them to say, “Oh, your 3 week assignment is over. Thanks for the work!”
AND,
until you get actually hired on, you’re “hired” at the temp/hiring agency, and you can opt to get health and dental insurance from them. The place I went through. Carlton Staffing, didn’t offer great dental insurance (and I despertely need it. Ive spent possibly more on my teeth than my Windstones in my short 15-10 years of having adult teeth) but it IS something. If you want to PM me, I could even help you look for places close to your house. Just be sure to harass them. Call them every Monday and Friday, and sometimes in between and let them know you’re “calling in avaliable” until they find you a job.
November 14, 2008 at 3:41 pm #738542Alright, well KC has an interview in 20 minutes with a job that we have been wanting him to get! It pays about $15,000 more a year than what he was previously getting, it’s union, and he is gone 4 days out of the week then home the next three.
CROSS YOUR FINGERS!!!
I am fantasizing that he gets this job, then I can go hunt for retired pieces that I want, and maybe some ebay pieces? hehehe….it’s a fantasy! -
