mmloda, it’s not that I didn’t want to paint another, I just didn’t want to paint one JUST LIKE the first… with ALL the tedious feather blending on EVERY SINGLE FEATHER. It’s enough to make you go bonkers. 😈 LOL
But Drag0n was very persistent. There was no way I could say no. 😀 😆

that blending (well all your blending) is so gorgeous! i can imagine how crazy this one is to to, makes my hand cramp to think about it.Actually, sometimes it’s trial and error. 😈 When it’s two colors that are on the opposite ends of the spectrum (such as white and the paynes grey for the maltese), it can take a long time to get a feather painted. You have to have the right amount of white and the right amount of dark. Too much white, the feather will be too light. Too much paynes grey, the feather will be too dark. Even with a retarder, the acrylic tends to dry too fast for my liking to get the proportions right and to get a nice seamless blend from the base of the feather to the tip. Once it dries, you have to start the process all over… again… and again… until it’s right. 🙄
It doesn’t help that I’m very particular. 😛 😆
Believe it or not, the hand that cramps is the one holding the PYO steady! LOL!
July 23, 2010 at 11:43 pm #769632That’s basically the same way I have to do it. Blending just about any color with white is a pain. Blending with black is so much easier.
