Spam PMs were sent to some users today from “melissa Johnson” with title “HELLO.” This account has been flagged as a spam account, so will not be able to send more messages. If you received this message, you can simply delete it. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Whenever I get am email telling me I have a message titled “HELLO” or “HI THERE” in all Caps I’m pretty confident before even logging in that it’s spam, lol.

I think there’s another spam user “Kayla Noyes”. I just received a similar message from them.

Clay has removed several Kayla Noyes accounts now. If any more show up, we’ll remove them. Just delete those messages. We are sorry this spam got into our website. The spammer does not have your personal email address – the email going to you is sent only by our website to tell you that you have a message in the Private Message system.

The spammers seem to be getting more frequent and more persistent, so I will look at different ways of combatting them. Spam prevention is always a balancing act–how to keep the spammers at bay, while keeping the site easy to use for legitimate community members. I will update you all on new spam prevention measures as soon as possible. Rest assured that your personal info (including your email address) is not at risk. The email you receive is from our site, notifying you that you have a new PM; it is not a message from the spammer directly. Sorry for the inconvenience, and stay tuned for the solution.
