Yes, five minutes really does sound fair. Then I think: What if I am tying up the last one? YOU try to get one seconds later, and they are gone. You drop off, I change my mind, and there is one available. YOU are gone, but someone else sees that one that is now available. That person gets the item, even though you were there first. There are pros and cons to every “Cart” system I have seen; they seem to work best in lower-traffic situations where the items are not flying out the door. These items are just too popular when they first come out. There are always going to be people who miss out initially, but hopefully they will get their item eventually. Hopefully I will get my Fledgling eventually!
If there was a “safe” period, I think some people would just grab and hold these high-demand, low-quantity pieces while they think it over. Should I get one? Do I even want one? Can I make money if I buy it and resell? Is there something else I can add to my cart to save on shipping? I’ll just browse and see what I might want since I have that safe period. π They would effectively be reserving it for themselves while taking it out of the available-for-sale pool. π I looked at the Male a long time before deciding not to get him. Would it have been fair to add him to my cart and not allow someone else to get him while I dithered around? :negative: It is disappointing when we do not get a piece (I have missed the Fledgling twice); but it is certainly a high when we get one (I got the Oriental and Young.)
I just got mine, and I must say I love her. Purple in just about any shade sells to me, and this color is beautiful. The backbone on mine is much less blue than in the Store picture; it is definitely not that bright blue, more of a deep blue/purple. Now I am hoping the Young will be the same. π Sometimes the same color looks different on other pieces, but I put my Amethyst Curl (first batch) next to the Oriental, and they are exactly the same color. π
June 12, 2009 at 6:28 am in reply to: Did anyone's Second-batch Amethyst Curlie have extra orange? #768744Mine is from the first batch and looks exactly like the Store picture: no orange/rust. I really like the all-purple version; but after seeing these pictures with the orange streaks, I like those also. The Store has four in stock; I wonder which I would get if I ordered one now? Then I keep telling myself that I have one and do not need another one. It is an addiction!
But you lost out because you put others first. That has to count for something! π Right?
The USPS not only drops packages; they throw packages. I have seen them do it. If they do that in front of customers, what do they do when we cannot see them? Possibly the other carriers do also, but it is the USPS that I have actually seen doing it. π‘ On the other hand, it is UPS that has delivered my packages to the wrong address. Twice! To be fair, though, I think it would have been a miracle if your dragons had arrived intact after hearing and seeing how they were packed. People seem to think that something that is heavy is not fragile. I certainly hope you have better luck with the Male.
I just got one, and the availability went from ten down to five in the time it took for me to order. I posted this under Flea Market by mistake, so it might even be lower by now.

I got one! Did they ever go fast! I passed up the Male to wait for the Oriental, and I have been checking the Store about every 30 minutes for the last two days. There were four left after I bought mine, and they were sold out in less than a half hour.
π Thank you, Lokie! π I appreciate all your help, and you are definitely #1 on my “I Owe A Favor” list.
Here is my Fledgling. I think he is even darker in person than in the pictures. π
They just added the Male Dragon to the Store in the new Amethyst color. There are 18 at the moment with the one per customer rule.
I have a Gold Lap for sale that was both signed and painted by Melody. The COA reads “you have purchased one of a first test batch of 10 Lap Dragons in a rich gold” and states that it was painted and signed by Melody.
This Lap is new. It has never been displayed and comes in its original packaging. I am asking what I paid, $230, plus your shipping charges.
There are six of these in the store if anyone is interested. π
π Yes, I did; I have them both. π π I generally favor darker colors; but once I saw this Dun, I couldn’t resist her. She looks much more “reddish” in the pictures than in person; her coat actually looks more “blondish” to me (my not-an-artist description). Is it just the “evil” camera or is it also my monitor settings? Anyway, her coloring is beautiful; she is beautiful. I didn’t think I would see a unicorn I liked as well, or better, than my Marbled Tiger, but now I have. Koishii gets the kudos for creating them; thanks for your congrats on winning them!
