as soon as I get a few free minutes I’ll post some of my flat work. I have a couple of dragons you all might like to see. I’m hoping to eventually get them up on cafe press as t-shirts etc. 🙂
I’ve been rearranging my work rooms since I decide to move a desk into my KISS room and use it for flat work and wood burning.
I found some boxes I did years ago and packed away I was happily suprised. Thought I’d share a one or two pictures. I also loaded them onto my web page.
PrimRose. Was all done by hand. I wanted to see if I could do color on color. Not sure what to call it but that design behind the little unicorn.Celtic Dog/Hound tiny little chipwood box good size for the gifting of a jewlery item.

I’ve only been wanting a PYO on since July last year. I just never have any free money. All my money is tied up with making ends meet and that’s just barely.
I want that laying Unicorn so bad! I collect laying Unicorns.
If anyone want’s to work out a trade!! I’d be doing the happy dance.
I have dreams of getting one of every thing of the PYO’s …
If any one wants to trade any of the stuff on my sale’s page I’m interested 🙂[Welcome to the forum!! Can you tell me a bit about why being a vet tech depressed you? I was thinking about making that my next career field. Im leaning more towards working at a stray facility, but I have a feeling the same things happen there.
Also, I would love to see pics of your horsies and pooches if you get a chance. There is a pet topic around here somewhere or you can just post them here. 🙂
It seems to me that what really finally got me about working as a vet tech is the way people look at dogs and cat’s as disposable. For instance. Little dog attacked by big dog. Drunk rednecks poured everclear down the little dogs throat and held it down on the kitchen table and sewed it up with sewing thread. Two days later the wife brings this little thing with a massive infection and the skin and tissure rotting off and full of maggots. Vet didn’t turn them in. The dog dies in severe pain and agony. They didn’t put it to sleep they let it lay in the cage till it died.
too often the Vets are suffering from burn out and they start not caring. I just got sick of seeing healthy animals euthanized for very petty reasons. It’s just too much trouble to house break him. That cat keeps peeing on the carpet. Where I worked they where putting these animals to sleep. One lady brought in a full blooded german shepard a year old wanted him put to sleep because he jumps the fence and goes into the garage where my husband doesn’t want him.
I think my biggest problem is that I care to much. I hurt when they hurt, I died a little bit everytime I had to be the one to do the deed. Sometimes Euthanasia is a god send, ends thier pain, eases thier passing. That I can accept.
My problem is I’m a empath. You hurt I hurt. Your angry I’m angry. I’d come from work and cry and hide from the world. I’d cry in my fur kids necks and tell them I loved them.
I have 7 dogs all of them huge and all of them rescues. I have a 12 year old big hairy dog named Shadow, Shadow’s mom was is in her 70’s she came to the clinic on her daughters orders to put her dog to sleep that she felt her mother was too old to be taking care of him. Didn’t seem important that Shadow was her reason for getting out of bed and walking and brushing him and taking care of him. There she sat crying and telling him how she didn’t want to do this.
I took her hands and told he could come live with me….for the first time in my life I heard God loud and clear. “Do the Right Thing” didn’t matter we had 5 dogs at the time. Shadow came to live with us and here he is two years later 40 lbs lighter and happy. He’s old arthritic but he loves me. He follows me from room to room. The first couple of days he was here you could tell he was confused but he figured out the dog door in one day and the next he had checked out the whole property and the third he got himself in the horse trough and barked and barked wagging his tail till we had to help him out. He seemed so proud of himself.
I am proud to have him and proud to know his mom and she always sends us cards checking on him.
Sorry for the long post.
I’m very passionate about animals. They can’t talk we have to be the one’s to stand up and speak for them.
So many unwanted pets disposed of when they become a inconvience….it’s just sad and so wrong.lamortefille wrote:Aaahhh…so you are/were a KISS fan. I thought that as soon as I saw your name. 😉 How cool that Gene signed that picture and I love the jeans you painted. All of your artwork is wonderful. I love the boxes you did, too. 😀
Yap been a KISS freak since I was 12 years old. I lived, breathed, ate, slept KISS. I spent so much money over the years on that JUNK. I still love them…. but I think when we moved her to the boonies and I took a huge paycut and so did hubby I kinda got a awake up call and realized that feeding my horse and the dogs and maintaing a old home was #1 priority.
I think I also grew up about 4 years ago. I still have most of my collection I’m discovering that most of it isn’t worth 5% of what I paid for it. I have most of it stored in thier origanal boxes and the posters put away in tubes and 60+ framed pictures packed away. I’m keeping some of it that’s really special but most of it really is JUNK.
It was fun, I won alot of costume contests dressed as GENE SIMMONS.
Now if I had only spent all that money on Windstone products at least they would have retained thier value!twindragonsmum wrote:I’ve always been addicted to beads, rocks, glass, etc, It’s what my hubby calls “The Magpie Instinct” It’s really bad now that I have my wholesalers liscence and can go to bead/gem faires (which, if you live near Salt Lake City, Utah, the next is April 4). But my family has always been known to have rocks in our heads. When I’m not costuming, I’m designing and beadng for two diff. lines. One of my sisters is a geologist. My other sister is an archealogist/marine biologist that digs up dino’s (we get to go with her this summer). One brother is a mason who does the most beautiful waterfalls, walkways, etc. My Bro in OZ blows glass is his spare time and the youngest of us (another brother) just likes to rock hounding with his 4 year old son.
I’m a tactile person. I’m also a People person. I can’t just sit and watch a movie; I bead. Drives my hubby nuts “can’t you just sit still and relax?) Well, that is relaxing for me. I like the different finishes to the stone beads. Some have a waxy feel, some are slick, some are fairly rough but they all have differed characteristics. The one I’m obsessing over now is “Ocean Jasper” and if you can find a really good piece, it’s translucent with little orbs “floating” in it like lava lamps!
More later, gotta run the kids to school (good topinc, by the way!)
twindragonsmum 😀
I am the same way! I have to be doing something. I feel like I’m wasting valuable time just sitting and watching a movie. I am either drawing, embrodering,or beading while watching tv with hubby. All the rest of the time I’m in my work room working. Drives him crazy. AS soon as dinner is over I’m back in my room. I work 12 to 15 hours a day everyday but Saturday and Sunday. I usually sneek out and ride my horse on the weekends. Hubby gets worried if I go during the week while he’s at work.
The big one is a stablemate horse.
This one is my favorite. “Pinkydoh”
Check out my web page I have a few other critters for sale.
They are Breyer stablemate foals. I set the wings with wire and then set the wire into the shoulder and then sculpt a little over the joint so that it flows better.
They are for sale. The Blue one is sold. I have a couple more that I didn’t post.
PM for for prices.
I posted pictures under the Genral art Discussion.
This is some of my art, I customize toy horses and transform them into Unicorn’s,Pegasus,Hypocampus’ and other creatures.
These are my “Flutterbye” babies. They are small 2 inches or there abouts. These are newly hatched 🙂

He’s freaking Awesome! he’s very greenmanish!
a wagon for your little one? it will serve well to hold the baby and the diaper bag. As well as any goodies you may buy.
I have always wanted to work the Rennisance Festival here in Houston. I just haven’t had any luck finding a job. I’d love to Face Paint at a Faire I’ve been Facepainting professionally since I was 19. We moved here from Austin Texas and in Austin there is something going on every weekend and selling my art and facepainting was always easy. Here in Huffman Texas there is never anything going on! I haven’t been able to get a gig since I moved here 4 years ago.
The drive to the Texas Ren. Faire is about 2 hours, so working isn’t that far to drive. I think I could even borrow a inlaws travel trailer to stay in.
I’m rambling. I can’t post pictures yet when I can I’ll post pictures of my Elf costume.Jasmine wrote:Welcome to the party!! I love your little flutterbyes.
I love those little buggers! they are such a joy to make. I just had a bunch hatch 🙂 if anyone would like to see them I’ll post pictures in the forum for art work.
I used a acrylic blending agent and it took forever to dry stayed sticky so I took some pearlex powders and brushed it over the sticky areas and it looked so cool. However I discovered much to my horror that if that blending agent isn’t mixed right and allowed to dry it causes the sealer to buckle and I was devistated! weeks and weeks of painting runined in moments. It couldn’t be fixed I had to strip the model and start all over.
I don’t know what to tell you but don’t seal it till it’s not sticky.my husband and I had tickets to a Valentine’s banquet at 50.00 a pop and the day of my hubby was under his mom’s house fixing the septic lines, we got home at about 7:00 and fixed supper and crashed while watching a movie about 10:00 we get a call from some friends wanting to know why we didn’t make it to the banquet….UGGGHHhhh!1 we totally forgot. We’ve been so busy since his father passed away in Nov. and thier house is falling apart. He’s been there almost every weekend working on it and Feb. just blew by.
I feel your pain! -
