Secret Keeper.
I really, really wanted a BEP secret keeper, but alas, couldn’t really afford one.
All the ones I see on ebay lately have been the darker colored ones. My sun and babe are the light ones.
I may have access to a hatching white emp and/or empress to trade, but that’s not a guarantee. The most solid offer is muh-knee.
Has anybody got a light colored one they’re willing to sell?
Yeah, he worked for a design firm in Houston, and he’s the best story teller.
I think he was a bit pleased to be asked too, personally. ;P
Yeah, my teacher is one of those people who’s been there, and done it, for years. he’s told us all kinds of stories in class (did you know that Jack Daniel’s was going to produce a wine at one point? He worked on the label), so I really trust his advice.
He’s a peach for helping me out, since I’m not in one of his classes this semester (but will have him again later, I’m sure).
I’ve done commissions and things, but this would be the first time I’ve actually done this kind of thing, so my first reaction was “Help!”
Nope, no offense meant! I don’t have any reason to not take you seriously. 🙂
I’m making a transition from piddling around to doing this full time with a degree so that’s what I meant, not a slam to your experience. I’m not that low. ;P I just have a bad case of foot-in-mouth disease that flares up from time to time.
That said, my instructor told me to quote $750 for the design, but to be prepared to haggle. So, DD, if you’re below that, I’ll bet you could up your prices a little bit.
I don’t think anybody was getting angry, just voicing a legit concern.
Like I said, I think it is great they can find some of this stuff we can’t and put it up for sale to us! But like wolflodge, I twitch a little bit at the thought of not being able to get something for a little less elsewhere because another somebody grabbed everything up for resale.
making a living is great! And I’m all for it! But really, I’d get priced right out of collecting if I had to get all my retired pieces for that much. Capitalism at it’s finest.
I will still get the pieces I can’t find from BT, no problem there, but I’d rather not have to race them to an online store to pick up a piece, is all I’m sayin’. No angry, just stating a fact! 🙂
I think what she’s saying is that she’s worried now that the stores we *can* get retired pieces from for less when we post them here for each other, you’re going to beat us to the punch.
I can sort of see how that’s not exactly cool. It’s great you find the retired pieces not listed online and bring them to us, but it gets difficult when we now worry that the pieces we can find for a little less somewhere else, you’re going to snap up and sell to us for perhaps more than we can afford, when we would have been able to get them within our budget otherwise.
I can understand the worry, and feel it a little myself. I’d rather not pay $130 for a dragon I can get off someone’s website for $79, either.
But that’s just my $0.02. We’re not flaming you, but it is a legit worry.
I’ve never seen that one before, but I like it. I’ll be watching it. ;P

You’re welcome. When I first got into this, it was the one I wanted the most, and managed to score one (for a painful price) off ebay.
Now I just need to find a regular peacock oriental in the lighter colors like my sun and babe.
Yeah, I hadn’t intended to go for collecting all the orientals until someone said “y’know, it’d be neat to have the whole herd.’
*shakes fist*
Bad about making us n00bs get more windstones. You posted before I got my reply up to Dragoness
Yeah, you guys *are* really bad about that…
Bless his little pea-pickin’ heart, my instructor is gonna help.
Your opinions would still be cool, though.
Well, soon it’s going to be my living too! Only as a bachelor-degreed pro. I have an instructor that would tell me everything I needed to know, I just need to email him, but I’m momentarily lazy.
I just thought I’d ask on a lark! 🙂
Has anyone on this board ever done graphic design for a business? I’ll probably be asking an instructor of mine some questions, but I was just curious what you’ve charged for the rights to an image.
I’ve been approached by a small business owner in the Boston area who wants to use a horse head design of mine as her business logo and I think I’ve come up with a reasonable price based on my research, but what about legalese?
I know I probably need a contract of sorts turning the rights over to her for reproduction, have any of you done this on your own, or did you get a little legal help?
I’m excited by the prospect, but I’ve got a lot to iron out with her!
