I got my swap today and am super excited! She is absolutely gorgeous and much, much nicer than I ever could have hoped for. In fact….kinda made me realize I probably wasn’t experienced enough to swap….

With no further ado here is the most awesome Ocean Wave by Kujacker. She will be prominently displayed in her new forever home. 🙂

What a gorgeous Keeper! Those are some really beautiful colors and shading. Really fitting for her name. Lucky you! XD Smashing job, Kujacker!

Lovely job on the griffity! The markings are especially nice.

In other news, I received my swap from Kiya today, a gorgeous griffity! I think his name is pied zebra – I’m squinting trying to read the bottom…

The pictures are taken inside, and it’s dark out, so the blue interference isn’t showing fully, but man is he beautiful! I love him! Thank you, Kiya.

So cute! The red eyes really pop. And from what I can see of the blue interference…nice. I really like the intricate markings.

This has been a really nice batch of PYOs everyone! Such nice work! I’m looking forward to seeing anymore that pop up.

Adorable kitty gryph! You have a real talent for feather and fur shading. Congrats on how he turned out! I love the realistic beak color too.

I’d be interested to check it out. The PVC didn’t cost me more than $20 ($7 stick and 8 $1 ish connectors, though the special glue might not sell in small quantities everywhere).

              Here it is as follows:

How to Make An Inexpensive DIY Light Tent

I still have to purchase the Bristol the instructor used for part of the construction, though I have everything else.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have a decent camera but only a rank beginner’s understanding of it. So this is wonderfully instructive!

I’ve also seen another method for building your own light tent/box (for a little bit cheaper), but am not sure if the website link would be a welcome addition. I can’t give my own opinion on it’s quality because I have yet to construct it (partially because of time, partially because of pinched finances). I can say it would be a bit less durable than the one you’ve shown though.

My piece came in today! I had given free reign of painting any real animal pattern, since it’s impossible for me to pick a favorite. My swapee chose to paint a snowy owl.

I love the design, it really says snowy owl. The little flecks of gold and the clear gems give it a nice pop. His name will be Ruth, since he reminds me so much of the White Dragon of Pern. Thank you, I love him! I also received some faux fur fuzzy bookmarks!

Ruth has a pretty design. 🙂 Yellow and gold go so well with white. And forgive me for asking, but is he white or pearl white? Sometimes it’s hard to tell from pictures.

I am so glad you like him, I was a little worried about going with the black eyes but they just seemed to fit him so well. I think I only took two pictures but I’ll pop them up here, I look forward to seeing yours. 🙂

Oh what a cool gryphon! I love his color scheme (and especially his stripes)! Really nice detailing. He’s as fluffy as his moth inspiration! XD

Kujacker that is a really cute Foo. Congrats! I like the color contrasts on him. And the zipper (I’m going to guess zipper) charm is a nice touch.

I like the creamy sand color on LadyFirebird’s keeper. It reminds me of the sand on a really sunny day at the beach. And the dash run of bare feet over said sand on the way to the water. lol Very nice. And the gems remind me of the mica flecks in the sand glittering in the sun. 🙂

Ciarnet, congrats on the Foo! The fur detail is really lovely. Woody browns and greens are always so nice together. He looks so cute with all the foops tucked around his paws!

Looking forward to seeing more of the swaps getting posted. This has been a really nice one! Can hardly wait to see what comes next!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful compliments!

96037 I use a light box with a black velvet backdrop as it absorbs a lot of light and any folds visible are easily edited. I should do a “How to photograph your PYO’s” tutorial, but I don’t know if I can get permission by the admins to make it Sticky?

Yes yes yes to this tutorial!!! Photographing my PYOs is the bane of my existence. Everytime I have to do it it groan cuz I know that the pics will suck, all the colors will show wrong, lighting will be terrible etc etc etc

This is a stunning Uni. You did an amazing job on the detailing.

I second, triple and quadruple support this tutorial idea! Photographing is always frustrating for me too! Does it look better inside? With sun? Without sun? So many times I’ve just thrown my hands up and said, “Good enough!” So if you would be kind enough to post a tutorial on this, I would be among the many who would be most appreciative.

@jmoore, Thank you! I enjoy seeing progress pictures myself, so I thought others might like to see them too. And sculpting is art so you certainly are an artist as well! Do you happen to have any pictures of your sculpts? I’d like to see them if you do.

@Adaneth, Thank you. I’m very happy with how he turned out.

@KoishiiKitty & drag0nfeathers, I admire both of your works on PYOs very much. So it means a lot to me to hear such complements from you. Thanks so much! It really made my day!

@Falcolf, Ha ha! Thank you! When I designed his paint scheme I kept staring and thinking, “Wow, he’s so colorful that he’s almost TOO much. He looks like something from Lisa Frank….” So Sorcerous Blaze got a nickname from his friends!

Just a quick update for consistency (and it’s safe because my recipient has received him and posted a pic in the show off thread). ‘Sorcerous Blaze’ aka ‘Frank’ done for the 2014 Spring/Summer PYO Windstone Swap. Swapee asked for deep metallic jewel colors w/the Father Foo sculpt and left the rest up to me. Quite happy with how he turned out. Embarassed that I still haven’t finished my light tent for photos though. Whoops! Now the wrap up.

                            ‘Sorcerous Blaze’ aka ‘Frank’

Done in metallic acrylics w/interference & Spaz Stix color change paints as accents. Lacquered in gloss. Charm is made of sculpey & done in metallic acrylics with interference paints. His eyes are dark (bright) blue and gems are crystal.

And now, I must go back to stalking the swap thread for new entries!

Wewt another commission for Scathatch who grabbed my last unicorn for a Serval pattern.

She sports intense purple interference on her spots!

Wow…just, wow. This is a gorgeously done Uni. I adore the little white spots on the backs of the ears. And the purple interference is a great complement to the spots. What an awesome commission. Congrats!

Thank you for sharing the name. It’s a lovely bird. I’m only used to seeing pictures of brown pheasants, so this guy is a treat.

I received my phoenix from 96037 – Thank you so much! It’s really lovely!

I’ll try to get some photos this weekend, but if you want to post any you already have, please go ahead!

I’ve set it next to my desk in my office so I can admire him while I work! 😀

Awesome! I only have 1 picture on laptop, but if I can get to the library, I will email my self a few more so i can post them.

                                  here is the one:

it is a little washed out. I am glad you liked it! I hope the blue wasn’t too much. 🙂

I really like the feather detail and shading on your phoenix! Very nice! Blues, greens & blue-greens are always favorite colors of mine. I apologize but, is this guy based on a real bird (if so, what kind)? It looks like it, but I don’t know much about different birds.
