Wow, I had no idea people sent cards to Windstone! Herp-a-derp on me. ^_^; I’ll have to amend that next Christmas. I only just found out this year that it’s ok to give a gift to your postal mail carrier (that I did do, my mail carrier is a very nice woman)!

Thanks! I can’t take credit for the color scheme though. Majime’s work is just jam-packed with amazing colors combos. Drool worthy.

I was thinking of using a pencil to mark outlines for a design I’ve been working on for a Ki-Rin as well. I was, however, going to maybe take a technique from my Graphic Arts paste up training, and use a light blue ‘photo’ markup pencil instead of a standard graphite pencil. I didn’t know if the graphite would dirty up the PYO’s gypsum or the paints – how did it work for you?I can honestly say I didn’t notice the pencil markings after a few washes of paint! They pretty much vanished. I can’t say what would happen if you used pastels or watercolors (because I haven’t used pastels/watercolors as a medium) or really light colored washes of acrylic though. But for darker/opaque colors, it seems to work fine. If you’re worried, I’d suggest a harder pencil lead. That’ll leave fainter lines that don’t smudge all over the place. I like a good 6H myself! 😉

I like him quite a bit, but would consider consider trading him for the blue-green fat cat with the orange and purple betta in the store picture.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameIt was a dark, almost black color mixed with the purple from the scales – I couldn’t think of any other way to get the fur details to show on the solid black. I was pretty happy with how it came out since antiquing is not my strong point! 🙂

I painted Lotus after asking Majime’s permission to use her color scheme. She graciously gave me said permission. I painted her for my own personal collection and will not be duplicating her or her paint scheme on anything else. If you’re curious about Majime’s work, I’ve included her deviantart account address in Lotus’ picture. Credit where credit is due after all!
