they haven’t come out with purple windstones or stone horses yet (sob!)
sure they have, well, sort of 😉

Thanks for asking around Melody. He is a bit of an oddity, that’s for sure.
Not that it’s proof of anything, but there is a little notation taped to the felt pad, says emperor 1992. I know it doesn’t really mean anything but I’ll accept it as proof he’s an old boy 😛It probably is something mundane like a former owner’s SSN, but what if he was … a test paint for brown that was rejected, and accidentally shipped off to a dealer… ? Or, one of the painters just felt like doing something a little different that day…? Or, “I have hidden in the back of the Maltese Emperor” …LOL
Thanks Nirvanacat 😀 There is no interference paint on her at all, just Liquitex Iridescent Bright Gold, Iridescent Copper, blends of these, and Folk Art Metallic Champagne as a little bit of highlighting along the wing edges.
I wasn’t sure if antiquing might bring out the detail a little better ?
I’m also not sure about clear coating on her, if it will kill the shine ? Def don’t want to use a gloss coat, or she’ll be blinding to look at 8)
Greater Basilisk wrote:Mikki, I like that brown emp, but it looks unusually shiny. Does it have purple on it?
For some reason, he is a lot shinier in the picture. IRL he is dead matte. The gold on the scales down his neck, sides, and tail is the same sort of ‘old gold’ color as his horns and claws. His belly scales and the under-side of the wings do match well with other browns I’ve seen. Maybe someone did just repaint the main part of his body ?
I did Ask Melody 😉 about the number, she thinks he looks real but isn’t sure about the number, first thought was testing a different mix of gypsum and marked him, but who knows. Waiting to see if she found out anything.
thanks all for the comments, I really like the guy no matter what he is.
Thank you Melody, I appreciate it 😀 Whatever he is, I really do like him, and got such a killer deal on him too, only $50 in Dec 2004.

I thought of that, but if it was etched on by an owner, it should show white inside the numbers – these numbers are covered by paint and there is no difference in color here compared to elsewhere. He could have been totally repainted, but the felt pad is clean with no ‘oops’ mistakes on it, which would be very difficult to do. I think…
Melody, I’ve asked before if he was real, I know the sculpt is but unsure of the paint. He could be a repaint.
I just posted full body pics and detail here,

I’ve been hoping that you’d be able to give me a better idea … ?
new picture
Any suggestions on antiquing this little girl, or anything else about her that’s ‘not quite right’ ?
thanks
😉
Finally managed to get a few pictures of my Windstones. I don’t have a display set up yet, need to buy some furniture, so these aren’t as pretty as everyone else’s. sigh.
sorry if this has been asked, I did try to search but didn’t find anything..
my Brown Emperor has a number etched into his base. It was not added afterwards by someone else, as there is paint down inside the lines. I think I read once that Windstones don’t have serial numbers, so what would this be ?
thanks
thank you Cat and Whippet 🙂
yes she is bright and shiny, sometimes it’s hard to see where I’m painting 😆 😆
A little hesitant to post, considering the amount of talent on this forum… I hope she’s not too similar to anyone else’s PYO, I’ve been trying to not look too close at them so as not to be influenced..inspired? Not sure of the word I want. I don’t want to copy. 😆
She (yes, she) is still in the works. She will be bright gold on the belly shading to a dark copper on the .. um.. dorsal ridge ? She really is much darker than the pic already, the flash just washes it out.
How do you get good pics of shiny metallics ? argggh.
Have to try to build a light tent, I guess.very cool, TF ! I really like the main part of the body, and the head and haunches, where you used the purple with the pinky-goldy-purple for contrast
Cannot wait to see the dragon – drool.
My main collection would be horses, mostly resins. Windstones are actually one of my smaller collections, with only 5 production pieces, and a few nekkid PYOs. The smaller collections:
geodes – I like to take road trip vacations, and often find a rock shop place where they sell whole geodes which they will cut for you
old bottles I found at ghost towns
pins – souvenir pins like from Disneyland etc. I got a really cool one there last fall, the demon from Night on Bald Mountain with his arms outstretched, and you can open or close his wings 8)
souvenir magnets from my travels
way too much craft supply stuff – I buy supplies to make something, then just get too busy, distracted, start but don’t finish – I really need to thin down this particular collection LOLLokie wrote:😯
Rob and Amber back on the Amazing Race? I loved watching them last time they were on it. I was a little upset when they lost.gack. Put me on the other side, I despise Rob and Amber. 👿 I didn’t like them from Survivor, then they showed up on Amazing Race (barf) and now they’re back?? booooo hisssss That nasty backstabbing devious crap has become standard operations on Survivor, but that’s one thing I liked more about Amazing Race, people relied more on what they could do themselves rather than what they could do to someone else.
not saying anything against those who like that… couple… just that I can’t stand them.
