July 22, 2007 at 10:07 pm in reply to: What do you guys think of plastic (Cosmetic) surgery? #602645
Reconstructive surgery (because I think people deserve the chance to feel normal) and stuff that will make you healthier, in less pain, etc (breast reductions, septum corrections, etc) aside…
I think too many people use cosmetic surgery for a quick fix (just like bariatric surgery), but I don’t disagree with it as a whole. I believe most things have their place. I tend to think some ppl are rather shallow (usu. the naturally gorgeous ones that feel the need to “fix” something), but for some people it can change how they feel about themselves in a much needed way. And some people just have a near impossible time fixing things themselves.
Personally, if I had the money, I’d be inclined to go for some lipo & an abdominoplasty. I can live with the rest of my flaws. But despite all my [correctly done] efforts, my baggage isn’t budging. I’ll never be a single digit size; I’m just not built that way. But it’s miserable knowing you’ve done right and it’s still not working, esp. when it’s 80 lbs & not just 5-10 vanity lbs. (And yes, I’m seeing a doctor… no, it doesn’t seem to be thyroid-related… but I’m on a thyroid drug & another Rx drug now anyway)
Bigger boobs for a graduation present is really pathetic though.
Welcome, Eleu!
Sweet. Thanks, Dave.:D That should help some, since so many people use your site for a guide to pieces.
I prefer the Emerald ones too, though I’d still like a dark Jade piece just to have one.

I like this one. I wish I knew who wrote it.
Celia Thaxter wrote it. Y’all should Google stuff 😉Very nice! I think the wings are neat. Not sure about the dark detail on the wings (sometimes hard to decide from pics), but I like it on the body scales.
I don’t mind the touches of brown, but I really dislike the funky yellow green 😕 . WSC’s mother dragon is the only piece I don’t like in that pic. The darkest green seems a bit different on her too, but that might just be me.

I agree with you on that one. I assume the cobra’s been de-fanged, but then it’s just cruel to the snake. There’s no need to cause it that kind of stress.Well, then no evil big needles for you! I don’t recall hearing about your health… may I ask what’s up? (just being nosey, no pressure to answer)
My reason’s just silly. Me, my bro, and my parents have been banned for life since we lived in England for 3 yrs in the late 80’s. Some nonsense about being exposed to beef over there, and the whole mad cow thing. We only ate beef that was shipped in from the States, so I don’t see how it would matter . Plus I’m pretty sure if I was exposed to mad cow, I would’ve died a long time ago. 😕 But whatever.Wow do we ever get off-topic around here sometimes.
Hmm… well, maybe it’s just the people around here. I’m not from this area originally, so I notice how ridiculous it is here more than my friends seem to.
But good for your area for the amount of donations! I know blood can be transported elsewhere, but it’s great to find an area with a high donation rate. (Especially if you live there… just in case)Romeodanny wrote:And you get money for plasma? Not in Canada. They get blood and plasma at the same time (I think, they seperate the blood after the donation.) All I end up with is a soar arm, (They hit nerves everytime)dizziness and a bandaid. I turn down the cookie since I feel awfull after giving blood. I feel bad though since I have a semi rare blood type. At least the nurses are nice. 🙂
You can get paid for plasma in the States. They essentially just pay you for your time. I know lots of ppl who’ve done it when they’ve been hurting for money. (It pays pretty well if you have the time and don’t mind needles). They do get them at the same time… it actually separates in the machine you’re hooked up to & then it gives you back the other blood parts along with saline filler.
Personally I think if they’re going to pay you, they should do it for whole blood donors too. But really, people should just do it anyway. One pint of whole blood can be used for 3 potential recipients. And we’re always in a shortage here. (sorry, I come from a family of nurses/phlebotomists, plus my dad was always highly pressured to donate in the AF)
I just really dislike how much Red Cross nags you once they have your contact info. It took 4 years of me telling them I can’t donate according to their rules for them to leave me alone. 😕purpledoggy wrote:Nooo the old warrior is falling behind!
But that’s okay! At least, it is if production wins out (and if they go with it)… you’d get an OW anyway? And you wouldn’t have to scramble for it if it’s in stores… 😀
Erm… you shouldn’t make anything if you just donate blood. I know you get paid to donate plasma though. I’ve never done the plasma thing. I wonder if I even could… Red Cross doesn’t want my blood… 😕 (stupid mad cow paranoia)

Yeah, it can take awhile… but it was updated just a couple days ago with a few new things. My BVF OW’s finally on there, and I bought him in April! 😀
frozendragon wrote:they called them both albino at first….
Oh! Well… thanks for that info. I was unaware of that (obviously). I figured since true albino coloring is pink/red eyes… if eyes are blue, there’s some amount of pigment. Plus the pearl chicks are in the store & albino’s not in their names… *shrug* Color name confusion around here get my head spinning sometimes 😕
