Well, simply put:
They’re both alcoholic beverages made from rice. Sake is made by brewing (fermentation), while awamori is distilled. Awamori’s about twice as strong as sake. And it’s apparently unique to Okinawa (as opposed to mainland Japan), which I didn’t know until I moved here.

I still haven’t had sake yet. Though I’ve had flavored awamori… now, that’s good.

Hubby has said since we got married (almost 6 yrs ago) that he wanted to wait ’til he was 30 (no clue why); I told him that that was fine as long as we didn’t wait until I was 30 (he’s 5 yrs older). He got his wish, and then some….

But for the actual decision of “when”… for me, it was just convenient timing of events. He was going TDY for a couple months… I told him I was going to give my body a much-needed break from the crap BC does to me, and he didn’t argue (that’s a go-ahead from him) even when I told him I wasn’t getting back on it when he came home. Though a lot of good it’s done me. No more side-effects, but it’ll be 2 years in June. Bleh.

Thanks, everybody! It’s officially my birthday here… though I should be sleeping.

I’m gonna help my friend bake some muffins for our hubbies’ squadron bake sale, and Josh requested tonight off so he can take me out to dinner 😀
Now if only I would get a phone call telling me my Harley arrived, today would be perfect!
