So do I… I hate being broke. π
ROFL
Good luck Loki!
We’re getting so much rain out here in AZ… the roads aren’t exactly safe! π I LOVE it!
Seriously… we got about 3inchs this afternoon! that’s more than we generally get in 6 months!!!
Kujacker wrote:It’s really awesome how you can get those thick layered colors with pastels!
Where did you buy your rhinestones? Thanks!
I bought the rhinestones at Michaels. They didn’t have much of a selection… no different colors. π
The little ones are 3/4mm and the larger ones are 1/2mm I think… need to go and look at the packages again. π
WOO HOO! WOO HOO! I have had a WONDERFUL couple of days…
Last night… I really got into the groove… and was painting horses till about 2am… π As is typical for me… Dunno why… always paint better and longer at night…
Anywho… Finished a couple last night… and started a couple more…
Only to continue into today!
It was a FANTASTIC day… we’re talking rainy all day… I think it was predicted taht we’d get 2inches in places around town. (that’s insane around here! The desert is getting a much needed soak!) Thank goodness it wasn’t raelly HEAVY rain… no it rained steadily for most of the day. It only just started to let up…
Talk about GREAT painting weather! My poor fiance asked me a couple of times if I wanted to do anything… or if I had any plans for tonight…
I feel kinda bad… but… painting… given the groove I’m in… is all I want to do! π
So… without further ado… here are the current victims that are starting to come into their own!
First… Romeodanny’s Palomino is coming along nicely… I think she’s finally getting to be the golden color I wanted her to be. Normally palominos don’t take as long as she has…. π But… I trust her to tell me when she’s done!
And of course, my Champagne unicorn again… btu this time I gave her some “bling” last night in the form of some rhinestones… and now she’s off to ebay! ^.^

Well… that’s it for now!
And I just now got some inspiration as to how to paint my Muse! π
Is it possible to have TOO much inpiration to paint? π
Please view auction for full details!

Though I really don’t want to wait till January… I think it might be better… it’s after Xmas… and ending during a somewhat slow time. (maybe!)
I think either way I can handle it… I just don’t want to miss the sign up in Sept (going to Michigan! ^.^)
Yeah did we ever decide on what size?
I wanted to add some to my Champagne unicorn… before I smack her on ebay… Tempted to go to Michael’s tonight… Hummmm….
Arlla wrote:Awwww, she’s a beautiful kitty! ^_^ I think I could probably manage a griffin that looked like her, if you did ever want me to try. I appreciate that she’s got lots of white on her – that makes things easier! π
Isn’t she a sweetie!?
You’d never guess how… Miss-chievious she is… π
GOTTA stop naming cats like that… they “grow” into them!!!! π
Oh it would be awesome if you could Arlla! As much as I want to paint her myself… I’m not sure how good a job I’d do! Tabbys intimidate me! π
Oh ARLLA!!!
GORGEOUS! ::falls over dead::
Seeing your tabbys… make me SOOO nervous to even ATTEMPT to paint my tabby cat as a portrait on a Gryphon…. O.o
Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough…
Or maybe one day… I’ll be able to commission you to tackle her for me… ~LOL~
Here’s Missy…
At any rate… GORGEOUS!!!!
Oooooh… love the chestnut Ski!!! She’s gorgeous! π
Thanks for your thoughts guys!
I can’t believe you all like Cali so much! She was a hit years ago… and apparently still is… π Though I think my drawing looks old and crude! π Then again… as an artist… I’m my own worst critic…
Heck… ALL of the drawings in that gallery make me CRINGE!!! π
Anywho… I think I will do the Okapi… and soon… and probably keep her off of ebay… that way the main body of people who see her are here… rather than the whole world. π Then we’ll see what happens from there. π
Until then… I’ve already painted my Eohippus resin in the Okapi pattern… twas fun! π
Slightly OT… but still related…
I’ve been wondering something along these lines… and I’ve meant to post about it… but now’s as good a time as any… to attach it to this discussion… π
Years ago… I created a race of Unicorns… and based on mythology… “eyewitness” accounts and what not… I set about designing them…
I took the tails of a “tri-colored” horn… white at the base… black in the center… and tipped with red blood… and added the coloration of an Okapi.
I chose Okapis because they were once considered “mythical” creatures themselves… no one believed the “short necked giraffe” existed… until someone stumbled on the solitary Okapi in the forests of Africa. π
Not to mention… Giraffes… AND Okapis can have a “bump” in the center of their foreheads… yes they also have two “horns” but it’s the center bump that intrigues me… ^.^
And so my Okapi Unicorns were created!
Here is the only pic of one I drew that I have uploaded… I must have deleted the others. π

And here’s another creature… created by a friend of mine… that I drew… ^.^

Anywho… These are my babies… I’ve always loved them… I had them coming in all colors… not just the russett brown and black hind quarters…
But what I’m curious about… is should I worry, that if I decide to sell the PYO Unicorn I paint like this… that I’ll get copycats too?
I’ve always been really protective of these unicorns… I want to put them out ther ein the world… and yet… I feel like they are my brainchild… (I mean I didn’t just decide to slap the color and pattern of an Okapi on a unicorn… I actually put some thought into why they might resemble/be related to Okapis)…and should stay that way… for fear of someone making good on my idea… you know?
I dunno if I’m making any sense… but any other opinions would be greatly appreciated!
If I should sell the Okapi Unicorn PYO I paint… or if I should just keep her? or just keep teh first one… then paint one to sell… etc…
π Flustered over here. π Oh well!
Greater Basilisk wrote:She’s very pretty. The blue eyes really stand out, though – I kinda think that coloring would look better with brown eyes. But either way…
Well… that’s why I used the blue eyes…. I wanted them to stand out… π
I, personally… don’t want the eyes to fade into the paintjob… I like them to be seen…
Which is why, for the most part… I’ll do the dark brown eyes on lighter colors. I don’t want my dark brown eyes to look like dark “holes” in the unicorns face. π
But that’s just me! ^.^
Ooooh Ski… that Unicorn is gonna look NICE!!! a deep golden palomino (or close to Silver dapple.) Oooooh. I can’t wait to see pics! ^.^
Well… sorta… π
She didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted her to look… but oh well! I kinda like where she ended up… so I let her go that direction. π
In a way… she reminds me of a nice golden sunset. π
She’s also a minimal tobiano/sabino… And she has a nice metallic golden sheen to her (MAN I love my pearlex powders!!!)
LMK what you think!
She’ll probably be for sale this weekend… or maybe later this week… depending on when I get an auction going…
ATM she still has the masking fluid on her eyes and horn. π
Next up… Romeodanny’s Palomino… and perhaps… at long last… a “special” project…
YAY! I have time to gather $$$…
::hopes it stays in her $$ stays with her long enough to buy just one Poad….:

dragonessjade wrote:I like the colors of the dragon. It looks like you got some yummy stuff with it as well. I think I started a trend….haha π
π π π
I think you might have!
I jsut felt so horrible for taking so long… I really didn’t intend for it to happen… but that little bugger was just so…. annoying! He didn’t want to be the color I wanted him to be!
So… I caved… and finally he started to cooperate. π
I’m so glad you like him Fauxbird!! I got so worried as I worked on him.. that he wouldn’t be worth it. π And then I worried that you’d be alergic to the candy… or not like the stuff I chose… etc. π
Yeah… I’m a worrier… π
Here are the pics I took of him before he left. π
