More pictures…Our Parish President stepped down because he was too “stressed out” OMFG…what idiots we have.
I am camping out here and we are slowly getting neighbors who are sneaking in under the curfew.
They are trying to keep people out until Friday…but I think it was because the President came in….
The president is a joke..his arrival has diverted emergency personnel and prevented them from working.
It’s a mess, but I got gas today and a few grocery stores are open….despite a parish wide 24 hour curfew….what a joke! Everyone is driving around.
I got gas and MRE’s and water from the military. I have 20 gallons of gas and am using 3 gallons per day. The MRE’s are nasty…but we wanted them in case we ran out of food.
I have a lot of food and water…but the news isn’t saying we maybe without power for weeks!
They are all worried about New Orleans…but we are not worth the coverage. I am disgusted…but that is what happened for Rita.
We are self sufficient so the news has no “horrible tragedy” to cover. If we were like New Orleans…and begging for help the news media would be all over us.
We are okay, I have gas water heater and gas stove, so I can cook and take a bath. I have a generator for the computer and fridge that we are running for a few hours at a time.
We have ammo and guns, so no one is gonna mess with us and I have a key to neighbors…so I went and cleaned out her fridge today.
The big problem is they don’t want anyone comming back till Friday.
It was raining in my attic and two other neighbors. Thank God we stayed. We were able to divert the rain..but are neighbors will have a mess.
We are okay and we are hot and sweaty…but making do 🙂 Hugs all!
This is from my neighborhood in Houma.
Gustav is here and things are very mild…for a hurricane…
I told my sister it wasn’t worth breaking curfew and getting arrested to go downtown and get an autograph from Jim Cantore…hehehehehe.

Nahh…it’s falling apart…it is a Cat 3 now…and we are about 20 miles inland…..

that doesnt sound like too much fun , batten down and take care
We are actually in Houma (Terrebonne) and because the storm is decreasing in size and strength…we are staying. Most of our neighbors are gone. At least we can mitigate damages to our home and our neighbors.
After Katrina, I said I wouldn’t stay again and we almost left yesterday. We woke up and realized the storm is falling apart, so we are hunkered down with a generator, plenty of food, water, batteries, flashlights and an axe for the attic if we get water.
I don’t feel bad about this storm, we are north of Houma and not right on the coast.
We will be having Gustav over for a hurricane party 🙂
The Castle [Dave wrote:“]My question would not be is an insurance company easy to get insurance from, but how are they on claims?
Has anyone here ever filed a claim with an insurance company for damage or loss to a collectible? (Not necessarily a Windstone Editions sculpture.)
How did it go?
Has anyone who sent a collectible that was damaged in shipping, where the carrier’s insurance agent refused to pay on the claim, managed to file a successful claim with their own insurance company?
Or do you have any indication of whether or not they would be likely to pay on such a claim if you were to present it?
We haven’t had to file a claim, but because they insure collectible cars for stated value policies, we checked about other car owners experiences and the references for car claims was good. So I decided to use American Collector’s because of the car experience.
I figured if they pay $50,000 car claims, they will pay for some glass collectibles…
I agree with your assessment of checking the ability and ease of which claims are handled. It is hard to do unless you know someone with this specific type claim.
Here is a review for their car insurance.
No, I don’t get a kick back…hehehe…they are just soooo easy to deal with….
This whole topic made me laugh. I think the dragon needed a crystal ball to gaze at so they stuck it there so the dragon could use it.
Just my guess…hehehehehehe
And only someone addicted to Windstones would make up the WWMD. LOVE IT!!!!!
I just love Windstone!!!!!
Hang in there, it is hard loosing a pet that you have had for so long. Goodness knows, I understand. We have had 4 dogs in the last 2 years pass away.
Hugs!!!! Hang in there!

$75 per $10,000.00 worth of coverage. You choose how much to insure in increments of $10,000.00. The online quote did not work for me.
I called and talked to an agent, sent her the Windstone web site info and described that they were collectible, breakable statues. I think I sent her the address to my photobucket account so she could see what the figures looked like.
It wasn’t much. If you call them, you can tell them to look at my collectible account, if you talk to someone who isn’t sure. We have 4 of our 6 vehicles with them. Love them!!!!! Easy to deal with!!!
Very good service!!!!
drgnlvr wrote:I got my whole collection insured with American Collectors and I have been very happy with them. I have about 200 Windstones and they insured the lot of them. I can add more insurance if the collection grows any more, too (heaven forbid, but that’s what I said a hundred Windstones ago!) I was just glad to get them insured!! 😆
I just renewed my American Collectors policy and I agree, they are great, easy to deal with. I have 165 pieces but almost all are retired or limited/special pieces.
She eats well, her breath is fine, but she has a missing right front canine from the car accident. Her fur is normal, she always has had a “frumpy” look, just never mats before.
I have a large black male with that gingivostomatitis complex and he has mouth problems, he has had almost all of his teeth removed. I finally took him to a vet that specializes in dental procedures. He is doing great.
I may take her to the same vet and have her check where the tooth is missing.
I am brushing her daily, despite her grumpiness..and I put claw caps on her front claws and clipped the back ones.
Here is a picture:
Barrdwing wrote:If she’s never groomed herself, then she should have been matted all along. If this is the first time she’s had mats, then I’d assume that something is stopping her from grooming herself. The likeliest suspects are either mouth pain (dental disease, a tumor, inflamed lesions) or orthopedic pain (such as back pain, which is certainly possible with a cat who was hit by a car). If she hasn’t been checked over in the last month, I’d have her checked again. If she’s a fire-breathing dragon, the vet may even ask to sedate her to check her mouth. He or she may also ask about running bloodwork. I’d say it’s definitely worth doing.
Generally, for a cat who normally grooms herself to suddenly stop indicates that something nasty is going on. Please have her checked as soon as you can. 🙁
I think I am going to schedule her an appointment and just let them sedate her. To make sure there isn’t something else wrong.
Cool!
