Kachina, Is this a not for profit 501c organization? If it is and you send me the information on where to send a check, I will send them a donation.

The doctors that I work with pick a charity every month and we donate money though monthly office fund raisers and I also donate to charity. I would rather give to charity than to the government. I like to give to charities related to animals and kids.

    My email is eschete344@bellsouth.net

    Grand Bayou Charity Challenge
    to benefit UnlockingAutism.org
    April 11-12, 2008
    3 RACES – 1 TRACK!

    $22,500 Raised for UnlockingAutism.org!

The Second Grand Bayou Charity Challenge was a HUGE sucess! We brought in over $31,000 in funds to the event and, after expenses, donated $22,500 to UnlockingAutism.org. We could not have done it without the help of the volunteers, corner workers, rece participants, spectators and sponsors. We can’t thank everyone enough for all you did to help us for the event.

As soon as I get some sleep and my eyes come back into focus, I’ll get a big story posted here.

    THANKS!!!
    Mike & Patty Poupart
    Chris & Lois Wilken

We generated a huge amount for the charity! I was so busy giving rides all day, I did not even get to take pictures.

hm, I’ll need to borrow an emperor box for when I ship adarasky’s emperor to her. That’s a good idea.

I think Golddragon is a forum member, and I’d want him to get his dragon in one piece O.O he got a good price on it 😀
Aw, so you were the one that was selling the emperor dragons?

No, I’m trying to borrow a box so I can get one shipped to me for repair. They are just so hard to move without their box.

Considering how much I want a Brown Emperor of my own, I wouldn’t sell one if I had one…and I gave Golddragon a run for his money for a little while. But it is just as well I couldn’t compete, I really don’t have the money right now.

I just got the box back from mmloda in Canada. So anyone who needs it is welcome to borrow it. It is in a second box, but the second box really isn’t big enough to put packing around between the two boxes. So you would need to replace the outside box with a larger one to ship the Emp.

PM me if you or anyone needs a box. Kaya

in reply to: Need advice on parenting issue #688807

I am a Nurse Practitioner and 8 years of my initial practice was pediatric…I am in ENT now, but see a lot of kids.

There is no right or wrong about how parents raise their kids. You as a parent, must decide what is right and appropriate for your child, this may be based on your faith or personal convictions.

You must be comfortable with what your children are being taught and how they are taught.

With that said, young children, especially 3 years to 8 years should be taught that adults are not always right. That if an adult trys to touch them in an inappropriate way, they should run, tell, holler or scream.

The problem with very young kids, is they can not distinguish someone dangerous from a friend. They are easily swayed. That is where all the trouble comes in.

Pedophiles will tell the kids anything to assure their silence. It is so sad that we have to deal with this and it makes it hard to let children out of our sight.

My suggestion is that you browse the parenting books at the book store and find one that meshes with your ideals. Then you can use that technigue to help your children to try to stop the spread of the evil of pedophilia.

Good luck and if anyone has parenting questions or problem areas, I would be happy to assist.

in reply to: Getting Insurance for Windstones #688352

I use American Collectors. We have 4 Collectible cars with them.

When I tried to get insurance through the web site, I was declined, but when I called and talked to someone, they approved my collection. I think there is a glitch in the web site quote system.

They are fantastic, easy to deal with and the cover accidental breakage, so if you drop an expensive piece, they only have a $100 deductible.

I have 20k worth of insurance, it is $75 per year per 10K worth of insurance. You can insure ALL of your collectibles under one policy, so if you have model cars, barbie dolls, horse collectibles and windstone, they can all be on one policy.

Her is the web site. I am extremely pleased and they have fantastic customer service. I would love to get home owners and daily driver car ins with them.

Awhile back somebody said there was a place you could insure up to #20K worth of Windstones for about $150 a year and now I can’t find it could somebody tell me where or what it was? I just added up the approximate value of my collection it sure does add up fast.

It was me. It is $75 per year per 10k insured. When I went through the web site they declined my application.

I called them and spoke to a broker, we have 4 cars insured with them. I had to send a list (MS Database in Excel) of my collectibles and values and a few pictures.

The insurance actually covers accidental breakage. I know my home owners insurance would not cover them as well and I am where Katrina and Rita hit in 2005.

It is worth it and any time we have had any problems with the cars…you speak to a real person and they take care of the problem right away.

We had a wrong vin number for one of the cars, I faxed them and they took care of everythying.

I wish I could insure my daily driver cars and house with American Collectors, they are fabulous!

Here is the web site. If you get turned down through the website, call and talk to a real person. You can use Rudy and Kaya Eschete as examples if they aren’t sure about your collectibles.

    I had something similar happen..

I was in college, living in a travel trailer, making hardly anything. I had bought a small min pin puppy, as company for my 10 year old male. My boyfriend, now hubby, let my 3 month old pup out of the trailer on a cold wet day, she slipped and shattered her radial (forearm/elbow) condyle into many pieces.

My vet could not fix this 2 pound pup. I had to go to Louisiana State Univ Vet school. At the time, it was gonna cost $500 (15 years ago). I had NO money. I was actually faced with the dilemma to euthanize her or take out a loan or use a credit card…which I could not afford. The vets said they could not promise the surgery would help and she might have to have her leg amputated.

Fortunately my husband stepped up and paid for the surgery, even though we were only dating.

That dear, sweet dog lived with us for 14 years.

The moral of the story for me…is that, had I euthanized that sweet puppy, I would have missed out on 14 years worth of love. I held her as they put her to sleep last year.

After looking back, I would have paid any price in the whole world to have the joy Taz brought to us for 14 years. I can’t believe I actually thought about euthanizing her.

Things always look different in hind sight.

You must do whatever you have to do, and sometimes the finances make our decisions for us. In retrospect, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Good luck, I know it is a hard decision. I will be thinking of you and if you ever need a shoulder…I know what you are going through!!! Hugs and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your pup!
