As much as I’m kicking my self for passing up the chance to win ANY special windstone like this, I think I will pass on this month’s raffle. 😮 He is pretty, but I’m just not crazy in love with the turquoisey color. If I ever win something, I want it to be something I’ll never ever in a million years part with. Not just something to “add to the collection.”
He is pretty though. Good luck to all who enter. 🙂

Hmm.. I’ve never heard of these either. Which database are you browsing? I’d love to see the new ones! 😀
pegasi1978 wrote:Yes! Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan series is a hoot!
I loved the short story she wrote for the holiday collection, the one that introduces her “old” male friend. When they talked about that headstone in her back yard I just knew, you know? (forgive the trying to speak in code, in case people havent read them yet but want to)
Have you “met” Bis yet? I love him. I want to make a shoulder puppet of him for myself so bad, but I havent really figured out 100% what I think he looks like yet. I mean, it’s in my head, I just can’t get it on paper. lol
Laurie wrote:I really would like to trade some for the Sookie Stackhouse books if anyone has them.
Good books (and GREAT HBO series!!), they are by Charlain Harris, I know (have) a few of the titles.. lemme think.. (no particular order):
..Dead to the world
… Club Dead
… Living Dead in Dallas
.. Dead until DarkCheck ebay too, and sometimes Amazon.com. I can often find books there pretty cheap. Shipping’s not bad if you get paperbacks instead of hardcover.
Oh! If you like her books, you should read the series by Kim Harrison. I only got into the Sookie ones because I wanted something to read between new releases by Kim Harrison. 😆
Kim’s are about a witch who is a “runner” (bounty hunter type), and has a vampire and a pixy business parter. The books are hilarious at points (pixy curses are so hilarious), really action packed as a whole, and have a little bit of the romance in them too. I love them. She’s my favorite author along with Anne McCaffrey and her Pern dragon series. Definately check them out.

Oh sure, didnt you know that all the Artist editions, and old cast/repaints going out lately all have hidden cameras in the eyes? You didnt? 😮
Well, we’re all on channel 20 on my tv as we speak.. 😆
abatos wrote:Would you keep the same pattern and colours or try some variations? I look forward to seeing it if you decide on another one.
For my own, I’d probably copy her pretty closely, I just loved how she turned out. Her pink nose looked so soft you could almost feel the velvet if you touched it. I would definately try some more variations once I got more PYO unicorns though.. she was actually supposed to be a lot paler when I had planned her out, but I just kept wanting more color on her, so she ended up more the sterling color.
abatos wrote:I’d love to see some more PYO unicorns. I recently bought one but am feeling apprehensive about painting it, lol.
I was too, but go for it! Really! The unicorn and the wolf I was most hesitant about painting, but to me, they were possibly the easiest to do. The paint is a lot easier to put on because you don’t have the bumps and lumps from the scales, you can get smoother blending effects easier. Besides, you have to sort of have one PYO to “get the feel for it”. Be sure to let me see what you decide to paint her as! I bet she’ll look lovely. 🙂
Lokie wrote:Or the broken eared Bengal Flap kitty? That one told me it wants to come home to me!
OOH! She put him up! *emails Melody asap*
He’s so pretty. I wanted a real Bengal and a Sphinx cat so bad.. someday. 🙂

I’ve seen it used to great effect in costuming.

No, I’ve never even heard of it. I would be interested in finding more out about it. Do you know offhand of a website to order it from? I’ve never seen anything like that here, at least in the craft stores.

http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/glow.htmWow, yes, it did, thank you!
Yes, I was looking at the strontium based type over the other type, I have been told by other people they do last longer, and are more worth the money for most purposes.
I can’t do any sort of wiring in this one anyways, he’s too small, and I don’t have much (any) knowledge of this type of stuff. It’s somethng I need to learn definately.
Melody wrote:I don’t. I distinctly remember fixing the problem, though. It is possible I fixed the toes, and then we discontinued the owl, so it was never produced with “fixed ” toes!
Aww, all that hard work for nothing. 🙁 Rats, I’d have loved to see them. Thanks. 🙂
Melody, on your past few (repainted) barn owl auctions on ebay, it says that they were sculpted with the feathered feet/toe mishap, but that this was later fixed.
Do you have any photos of the “fixed” owls? All I can find online are the same feathery-legged sculpt, just from the original release colors. I’m really curious how the two compare. 🙂
pegasi1978 wrote:The pulls do glow in the dark, but very faintly.
Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. 🙁 I really need something that’s going to glow very well, and wondered if the “better quality” (more expensive!) stuff would work better.
I hate to buy the stuff without knowing, especially since Illl need several of their small jars, but I may have to suck it up and go for it. See what happens. Hmm. Thanks for the input. 🙂
purpleturtle wrote:Oooo – I can’t wait! I love bats and that sculpt is so darling 😀 .
I love bats too, especially the flying foxes from Australia, but I’m very fond of our little local ones too. I haven’t seen him yet, but I’d almost definately buy one- I just seem to have a thing for those types of faces that are so ugly only a mother could love them. 😉
*trots off to go find the pic*
laura wrote:I think a keeper this time! 😀
I’ll second the lap dragon, or any other dragon (I want a Keeper so bad!) 😀
I don’t think many people are crazy about them, but I actually like the Salmon one they’ve got listed on ebay. 😕 😀
Hey everybody.
I’m going to begin work on another dragon puppet and wanted to make him light up somehow. The method I was going to use to make him light up won’t work, he’ll be too small for battery packs to be hidden inside, so I have switched tactics and am now thinking about using glow-paint or glow powders to make him light up.
Has anyone ever used the stuff? I see the green paint stuff in the craft store which just sort of looks like cheap junk, and I’m a little dubious of using the low-quality type; I’d probably buy the better types off of an online site who specializes in it. I’m particularly interested in the red color, which they do say doesn’t last as long as the other colors.
Anyone have any experience with it?
