Pm’ed you!! 🙂
Jennifer wrote:joshmo4evr wrote:Hey, What are the phrases you enter in the customer notes in order to get a sketch? I can’t remember.
You can put “Love Fuzzy”, but that will only get you a fuzzy made by Susie. There are no magic phrases to get a sketch. Melody only does sketches on the Certificates for her special eBay pieces. I do sketches for my eBay pieces too.
Ok, so I didn’t necessarily mean a sketch. It sounded like from other people that you got a little “something” when you wrote a phrase. I guess I never really understood what exactly that something was. But Now I know 🙂 Thanks

“May the Zorse Be With You” used to get you a DZ sketch, until DZ left Windstone to pursue new job opprotunities.
That’s it, as far as I know?
Great, Thanks! I wanted to see what the little sketches looked like since everyone talks about them.
Thanks again
Hey, What are the phrases you enter in the customer notes in order to get a sketch? I can’t remember.
April 19, 2008 at 3:39 am in reply to: My Raffle Prize Is Here!!!! Thank You, Thank You, Melody!!!! #691659That is the most beautiful pegasus I’ve ever seen!!!! I’m happy for you, but I’m so incredibly jealous
I’m not a huge fan of purple myself.. but I like the old peacock colors. However, I really like the emerald peacock colors too. I guess I’m not that picky. They’re all so beautifully done no matter what colors are chosen!
Melody wrote:Stephanie wrote:Well, I’m always trying to find things that make my pieces ‘special’, so forgive me if I’m showing my lack of Windstone knowledge with a silly question.
I just bought a brown family off of ebay. They’re beautiful, with the darker stripe down their spine.
The question I have though is regarding the male – specifically his face. His eyes seem more ‘hooded’, and he looks like he’s about to fall asleep. I looked closer, and noticed that the shape of his scales are different when compared to my silver. He’s also lacking some detail around his eye. Did you make changes to the male mold recently?
Thanks for your time! The older Male dragons did have different eyelids. Our first “production master” that the molds were cast off of were made of gypsum and the eyelids almost always broke when we cast a mold.I needed to replace, and recarve the eyelid with wax each time we cast a new mold. I didn’t recarve the individual pieces, each dragon cast out of the same mold will have the same eyelids, but there were lots of molds. The most extreme example of the squinty eyelids is the “Wedding Cake” male dragon. (Who ended up with that one? Maybe you could post a pic? He is also pictured in our ebay gallery if you’d like to see him.) I sculpted the eyelids so close together on that male that we could hardly get the eyes in. He looked really evil. The later males were cast from an epoxy master . I made the eyes permanently nice and open.
So where is the ebay gallery? I tried to look. I’d like to see a picture of this “Wedding Cake” dragon 🙂
PM’ed you 🙂
You must have really been on the ball to get the whole set of black pegasai. I’m sorry you have to part with all of them. Good luck with that.
Greater Basilisk wrote:Good luck finding one, purpledoggy. I takeit Angel Hearts doesn’t have a second fledge?
I’m sure they have more.. i can’t believe that I would have the “good fortune” of getting the last one. No reason not to give it a try and attempt to order one.
But if they never had one.. they neglected to mention it. Maybe I’ll get a disappointing email today saying that they aren’t actually in stock anymore. My luck runs that way, hopefully this time it’ll be different 🙂
I just bought a rainbow fledge from Angel Heart gifts. I didn’t realize that they were retired.. and I’ve always liked rainbows (since I was a kid and dyed my hair all sorts of different colors… haha). So i had to snap it up. It was around $73 with shipping.. which isn’t too bad.

And so that people don’t get confused in what is or isn’t an official Windstone colour. If I’m not correct I know I’ll be corrected!! 😀
Disclaimer: Only John, Melody, and the Windstone lawyer can give exact legal.. uh.. quotes? In other words, they are the final legal voice on this stuff. Anything they say overrides what I say!! What I say should never be taken as legal advice, etc.
But, how I understand it: that though no one can own the colors they apply to a repaint legally (if someone repaints a Windstone they do not own any sort of copyright on it), we are trying to be really nice and not intentionally create anything that is too close to an existing item that has unique colors This is Melody trying to be nice and trying to create less confusion (which is one of the biggest problems repaints pose). The exception would be that natural colorations do not belong to any one person– If, for example, one of us at Windstone wants to do a Koi-anything, that really isn’t stepping on anyone’s toes because koi patterns have existed on real live koi in nature for hundreds (well, thousands, really) of years, no no one owns it.
When I am working on my artist’s editions on production cast pieces (anything that is not a PYO) I try to be very mindful of the existing colors that Windstone has produced on the sculpture I’m working on. For example, I don’t want to do a black dragon with purple and gold highlights- it’d look like a Black Gold dragon.
This has been pretty easy thus far as I can easily check through Windstone’s galleries and say “Oh, good, I’m not too close to that color” or “Ooops, I’m getting close to that color, let’s change it a bit.”
Repaints are such a wildcard though because I have no way to keep track of what people have done (and, it’s a little unfair to have a color ‘taboo’ to Melody, Oly, myself, and any future official Windsotne artist just because someone repainted something similar, especially after we discouraged it).
I lost a lot of work because I inadvertently painted something that was very very close to a repaint that I didn’t know about until I was very nearly done with my dragon. To be polite I’ve since reworked him, but that was a lot of time to lose when this is my living. :/
We knew it would happen and it’s not a big deal, but this is one of the many reasons we discourage ’em.
If it’s really that big of a problem, is Windstone able to just say “Don’t repaint, period”?
“Discouraging” repaints leaves room for folks to do it anyway and when they come up on hard times, the repaints are usually the first to go.
I understand the compulsion, but if it’s becoming this kind of problem, maybe they should just nix the wiggle room of the word ‘discourage’.
I concur! Especially if it affects the work that you do… The repaints are magnificant sometimes, but it’s not worth your job.
purpledragonclaw wrote:Is Sunshine Spirit still current? I’m learning from all of you that Google isn’t the most reliable way to search for these things… 😡
I checked that site out earlier today and added a rainbow fledgie to my cart. Only to see if it would work. It did! However, the rubies are sold out… not that anyone seems to be very interested in those right now.
I’d say give it a go.. plus they’re 63.99 (88 something with shipping and what not)

But I bought one years ago from a store that sold windstones… this was waaaay before I even knew what they were. However, my print was framed and colored. Is this some sort of limited edition? Or did someone take the liberty of painting and framing it themselves? Do I have something special?
The store I got it from was an official windstone dealer at the time. It has since gone out of business.
I really want to post a picture to show everyone what I’m talking about.. but I don’t know how to do that.
Here’s a picture of my print.. hope it works! Can you tell if the prin is really painted, or is it printed with color? We did both. The hand colored ones were special. They were sold already framed in in oak frames and were more expensive than the printed color or black and white prints.
It looks like it’s a colored print. Are there tell tale signs of a painted print? But all in all, i’m pretty sure I’ve got the colored print. Doesn’t really matter to me, it’s one of my favorite pieces 🙂

Yeah, but once I do that, then where is his incentive to cooperate with me? If I open a claim with PayPal, do they require that I return the dragon?
I really just want some of my money back, in his current condition he isn’t worth much, and I feel I am being quite generous in only asking for half of his purchase price. I think I will give him until Monday, only because a lot of people don’t look at their email on the weekends. But after that, I guess I am down to arguing with him about it.
Kyrin
The idea is: if he doesn’t respond, he isn’t going to cooperate. If you feel you can still get something out of him, you should try all methods first, by all means. But if you waste a lot of time and get nothing, don’t give him a positive or a neutral because he was nice or something. Don’t cave in.
Oh, I won’t. If he doesn’t respond to the email I just sent with pictures of the dragon in pieces and my request for a response by tomorrow, then I will be filing claims with eBay and PayPal, as long as neither require me to return the dragon, if they do, then I guess I will have to eat it. If I have to eat it, then he is getting some really ugly negative feedback.
An intact dragon for the price I paid would have been nice, but I only spent $122 on him. I don’t consider him worth more than $50 as he is though, so I am hoping to get part of my money back.
We’ll just have to see what the seller does, but so far it doesn’t look very promising.
Kyrin
If he was sent damaged, you should get all of your money back… Did you have him insured? Even if he wasn’t, you still paid “full Price” for him and you deserve to get all the money back.. even if you have to return the dragon. Think of it this way.. if you get to keep him, but only get half of your money back… then you’re really just putting more money into him in restoration. Go for all the money, then work from there.
But I do agree that you shouldn’t give a neutral feedback if he isn’t being cooperative. You can take it up with Ebay, they’re really good at settling bad feedback that isn’t/is deserved. -
