I’m getting mixed up. Which one went missing besides the #1 of the pink that Melody is keeping for her collection and travistie has #2 of? Is there a #2 of the sky blue that went missing too? *scratching my head* I have #3 in the blue, are you waiting for #4? Or the missing #2? 🙄

Kyrin, can I send you a blue wizard that only needs a crystal replacement and some cleanup? Remember the PITA seller I got into it with? Well, I had to send it back to him and I found a great forum member who found this one in a shop that was all dusty and missing a crystal, (the wizard, not the shop!) so she bought it for me and sent it. As far as I can tell, that is the only thing wrong with it. It’s just a quick fix and cleanup and back he comes. I don’t have anything else to fix as we speak, (for once!) and only one dispute in paypal and if that one gets resolved in my favor, that one will be a quick fix too, but that one is a month or two down the road if ever, and he’s little with only 2 chips. Would that be possible or do you want me to wait? I would so like to get all the wizards fixed up and done with and he is the last one. What do you think? I could wait until the dispute is resolved and see if that one needs to be sent too, or send this one now and wait on the other one. What do you think? 🙂

I read this quote I like: “People who distrust the trustworthy attract the untrustworthy. It ain’t pretty. And for those who trust the untrustworthy, yeah, they begin attracting the trustworthy. Better to trust everyone.” But I also think trust your instincts, your gut feelings and your inner judgment. Of course you can get conned, no one is invincible to someone who is really good. But it is still better to be able to trust than not to be able to trust. I can think of almost no existence more miserable than to live a life of true paranoia. Rather than that, I would rather feel sorry for the con who feels that the only way to get along in the world is to trick other people, to live a life of lies. What a horrible life! For me, better to trust and get fooled, than to live an untrusting life.

I got my whole collection insured with American Collectors and I have been very happy with them. I have about 200 Windstones and they insured the lot of them. I can add more insurance if the collection grows any more, too (heaven forbid, but that’s what I said a hundred Windstones ago!) I was just glad to get them insured!! 😆

Good! At least I wasn’t the only one 20 years behind the times! 😆 Thank you for the clarification! My office partner was complaining about that yesterday too, so we aren’t the only ones!!! It’s a good thing we have you to look important things up for us!!!Now at least I can be one step ahead of him!! He is usually one step ahead of me in stuff like that! So, double thanks!!!

I like the summer games better than the winter ones, they are more varied and interesting to me. Michael Phelps has been a phenomenon to watch, heading for 13 gold medals by Sunday! Yeah, the 400xm race with the French team trashtalking about “smashing those Americans” just minutes before and then coming in 2nd behind Phelps and his world records was pretty amazing. I like it when some little nation wins too, like Boukpeti from Togo winning the bronze for kayaking, the first black man ever to win that medal and so excited he broke his paddle in half and didn’t even seem to notice! Another hero story is about a member of the USA swim team, I don’t remember his name, but he elected to finish the Olympic competitions, then go home and have his testicular cancer surgery, rather than let his team down. A lot of the Olympic competitors seem to come from priviledged backgrounds, but then some of the stories, epecially from the beach volleyball folks are not. It’s not clear to me why the professioanal basketball players are in the Olympics when I thought this was supposed to be for amateurs. Did I miss some change in the rules? Also, I have some problems with athletes changing citizenship in order to compete in the games. Apparently, the USA allows this too. Are we buying and selling players too with bribes in the form of citizenship and “bonuses”? What gives with this? I know I’m a Naive Nellie, but this doesn’t seem right. I’m sure there is a lot more I’m missing in my ignorance too.
In the meantime, the swimming is almost over and the track and field begin next week and I like that too.(I met my first husband on the track! He and his twin ran mile and 1/2 mile and they were college champions, went to the state meet. We went to the very first Russian-American track meet in 1962. Very exciting!!!) That’s like a whole different Olympics!
So, yes, I’m following the games! Taped during the day, rush home to watch at night! OPening ceremonies were spectacular, I don’t think any country will ever be able to come close to that! That little boy could have been adopted by 60 million people on the spot! Walking beside the 71/2 ft basketball player and never seeming to tire. What a cutie!
    I love the Olympics!

in reply to: Is $500 a lot of money? #725104

I believe people spend their time and their money on what they value. Everyone lives within a system, unless they have so much they don’t know how much they have, like Bill Gates, but most of us don’t fall into that category. So, most of us choose what and how we spend our time and money on, based on what we value. Some of us buy better food, or cars, or housing, or travel or go to school, or support relatives or buy Windstones or horses or trailers or dogs or whatever. Then we have to live in less expensive housing, or drive less expensive cars, eat out less often, not support horses, dogs, relatives, not go to school, travel, buy Windstones, eat beans, etc. Some of us can say, I will eat beans and live cheap now so I can go to school or training and get a better job or position myself so I can live better in the future or invest in my future in some way because in doing so, I am valuing what I am doing now for my future. So when we look at the way someone else spends money and think oh, that is an expensive way to spend $500, I would never spend that much on —, we are looking at it through our value system, not theirs. I would never think of spending $500 on a dog, but my office partner raises showdogs, Borsoi’s, and he thinks nothing of spending a lot more than that on his dogs! That’s his values, not mine! He looks at my Windstones and says he would sell the whole collection! His values, not mine! So $500 is just $500, it represents our value system and what we do with it. Same thing with time. We spend our time on what we value, regardless of what we say! Yes?

in reply to: Oh My #722667

Boy, don’t I know it!!! I have been waiting for this MOMENT! not days or weeks, MOMENT! when I don’t have to pay that wretched tax!! I have been begging Melody to tell me when my tax agony will be over, like of course she has nothing else to do but look that up!! But it looks like maybe this weekend will be it!! Of course, I would have to win the twilight male on ebay this weekend and they charged me the tax but they aren’t shipping it until they get to Oregon, so I don’t think I should have to pay the tax, so we are going to have a discussion about that! But at least I am free at last, free at last, Good lord a mighty, I am free at last!!!!*bowing three times to each corner of the universe* Don’t get me wrong, I adore my state and I really don’t mind paying the taxes everyone else has to pay, especially the ones that go to the firefighters and emergency personnel that have come from all over the world to help us and keep us from completely burning to the ground, although the damage is horrendous!! It is really bad!!! I am a 5th generation Californian and have lived in northern California all my life. It has NEVER been this bad, never! We have fires every year, we are used to that, but not like this, not like this. The air is thick with smoke, the eyes burn, the sky is gray, not blue, the firetrucks and heliocopters are everywhere, and the real fire season has just started. We have lost 1000’s and 1000’s of acres, homes, businesses, and agricultural land, crops, farms, not to mention the animals that have no place to go. One poor woman got attacked by a bear who was looking for a new home, he was trapped and killed, she was in the hospital severely injured!! And the fires aren’t out yet!!! In fact, more have started!! So. I really don’t mind paying the taxes everyone else here has to pay, that’s only fair, in fact, I think they ought to close up a few loopholes so the corporations have to ante up some more to pay for these fires, but that’s another rant. But when I have to pay California tax of 8.25 because the factory is in California and so am I, whoa, nellie!!!*screech* I have paid enough tax to support at least one firetruck and 2 hoses and 5 ladders!!! At least!! 😯 Well, maybe 4 ladders. 1 hose? A lot of water? A lot of taxes!! 😡
So to say I am glad to be out from under the burden of paying this particular tax is by far the understatement of the year!!!! I have been there, done that, got the teeshirt!!! 😆
Speaking of joy, I am off to a reggae festival next week with 2 of my best young friends for a week of camping and listening to my very favorite form of music performed by some of the world’s top reggae artists, eating exotic food, out of all contact with the world including cell phone (we will be up in the mountains)in one of the biggest reggae festivals there is -12,000 people were there last year – and I am so looking forward to it!! Reggae and Windstones are my 2 major passions besides my work and they light me up! Music in general lights me up, but reggae in particular feeds my soul!(not the ganja, the music! Let’s be clear about that! :D) Anyway, I thought I would share that piece of joy with y’all, as long as I’m into sharing joy! Sorta!
