Are you kidding me. Gargoyles was the best show, ever. It changed my life.
It … okay it seems weird to say that about a cartoon, but IT DID.
Nah, that’s not weird. 🙂 Pretty cool actually and likely not all that uncommon for a cartoon to have made such an impact. Similarly, there’s been stories told of NASA employees heavily influenced by Star Trek. (Another fav. of mine and considering most of the STNG series bridge crew voiced characters in Gargoyles…heck yeah.) I was exposed to art via my mom early in life but oddly (and sadly) enough, Dragon Ball Z is what really got me into art in my pre-teen years, though I have to say now I’m an adult I can’t stand DBZ. It’s like, “Why did I watch this?” *ducks and runs for cover* Sorry DBZ fans.
In my opinion, Gargoyles suffered from the same thing a lot of good cartoons did. It was way ahead of its time. Apparently still is because it remians banned in a small amount of countries. Sad it was a short lived series and I’m still amazed how much more liberal cartoons were back then with blood, guns, and death (of sorts). Geeze Disney, what happened to you? Eh, I could ramble on forever with this subject. Showing some restraint here.
Aw…I picked up DBZ early in college and I still love it (though I much prefer it in the original Japanese). Even picked up on it’s earlier show ‘Dragonball’. T_T Oh well, to each their own. Gargoyles was (and is) an excellent show. It’s also a favorite of mine along with Star Trek. Gargoyles is also finally being released on DVD (at last).
Oh, don’t get me wrong, DBZ is not a bad show. I just grew out of it is all. The graphic novels and the original show (like you mentioned) are much better I bet. It just seemed like most of the episodes they stood around staring at each other and making threats. Maybe that was an English dub problem? IDK. Dragonball was much better than DBZ (IMO) but GT, man that one was terrible…again IMO. So there’s a “new” DBZ movie coming out soon. Thought that was interesting. Not sure if I’ll make an effort to watch it though. Depends.
I ended up investing in the Gargoyles DVD’s seasons 1 and 2 (vol. 1&2). They still haven’t released season 3 I guess? I had no idea they were only “recently” released on dvd. Talk about good timing to revisit the series. I’m happy to watch the show all over again because I honestly do not remember much about it. The last time I watched this show I was like 7 or 8 years old. EEESH. Apparently there’s a few comic books that are a continuation of the Gargoyles story. Might have to invest in those eventually. *shrug*
July 22, 2014 at 5:03 am in reply to: Seriously considering PYO…EDIT- OK, Im diving in ! Got my PYO sculpts ! #916028I’ve mixed liquitex and Golden brands together before, and had no problems. Just my experience though, not sure if others have. Just make sure to follow the guidelines on the label of the Retarder, as too much will make your paint finish sticky and won’t dry properly.
DD: So THIS is why my PYO pup feels sticky!! (Maybe.) Not to thread-jack, but if anyone reading this should happen to have Liquitex slow-dri blending medium, would you mind telling me what exactly the instructions for using this medium are? My instruction label is written entirely in Japanese so it’s useless to me. 🙁
I have the liquitex slow-dri retarder. All it says on my bottle is “do not add more than 25% by volume” and “mix with any acrylic color or Liquitex Medium.” The rest of the text is just its uses. “Slow drying and increases blending time” and “does not contain acrylic resin to act as a binder, use sparingly.”
*Edit*
Uh, might have given you the label for the wrong thing but hey, now you know what the Liquitex slow-dri retarder says. *shrug*Are you kidding me. Gargoyles was the best show, ever. It changed my life.

Did refreshing the page fix it?
Yep, refreshing the page did the trick. 🙂
Oh man, highfive for the Puck icon!!
Lol! Highfive back! Somebody remembers Puck. 😉 That makes a whole 10 people now. XD Ahhh, the 90’s cartoons…*trails off into a nostalgic state of mind*
July 20, 2014 at 3:07 am in reply to: 07/14/2014 Fantasy Grab Bag Unicorn Colt Picture Thread! #915874I got mine yesterday! I couldn’t post photos because I was packing for a trip. I think he is gorgeous and I will definitely be keeping him!
When I was putting him in my case I noticed something. It looks like he’s the long lost brother or son of my baby Juggernaut!
Oh, you got the “bird/crow nebula” unicorn! Congrats! One of my favs. Thanks for sharing the pics. 😉
Ah, so that’s how one can adopt a fuzzy. 🙂 *Makes mental note*
Whaaah! Can’t afford to get in on this grab bag. My wallet said, “NO!” 🙁 Ah well, I’m more a dragon collector anyway so will hold out for the next mini keeper (or other dragon) grab bag. 🙂 But, there are so many fantastic unicorns in the grab bag (especially the ones with dragon tattoos). 😉
My wallet also has told me “absolutely not.” It’s sad, because I know that the ones that I like are the ones that will be in high demand, so they will probably be kept or traded, and by the time I *do* have the money again, I’m certain that there will be none left in stock. Oh, well. You and me, we can live vicariously through other people. And maybe next time!!
Lol, I guess we’ll have to make due with pictures. Maybe there will be another grab bag of some kind soon-ish. Fingers crossed. 🙂
Personally, I can’t believe these are still in stock 0.o
Too much Blue Morpho already sucking money out of people’s wallets is my guess. 🙂
That’s what happened to me, but I don’t regret it. XD The other thing it could be is it’s not pay day for some people yet. 🙂
But, there are so many fantastic unicorns in the grab bag (especially the ones with dragon tattoos). 😉
I’m hoping to get one of those with the ‘Dragon Tattoo’! I HOPE I Do … I HOPE I Do … 😀
Wishing you good luck in getting one that you want. 😉 It seemed like there were quite a few dragon ones so maybe your odds will be good?
We had to euthanize our sweet pet hen yesterday and I am really depressed over it. She was only three and riddled with tumors.
Sorry for loss. It’s always tough to loose a beloved pet and having to make the deciscion to release them from this world. No words will make you feel better, but try to take comfort that she’s not suffering from those tumors now. She’ll be with you in memory and spirit.
Ah, so that’s how one can adopt a fuzzy. 🙂 *Makes mental note*

Oh, my. Just…it’s like Frankenstein!
Sorry about the loss of your pets. Never easy to deal with and you guys got a double whammy. 🙁 Best wishes to you and your family during these difficult times.
In my opnion, like with people (paticularly the elderly), sometimes they pass away shortly after their companions. My friend had this happen with her Grandparents. I’ve heard many stories of healthy animals passing after they loose their companions as well. With the cat, it could have been depression from loss, age, or both. One never knows for sure.
There’s also the possibility that this particular gargoyle was born this color!
Might be best I leave him alone then if that’s the case. 🙂 Really don’t want to try to “fix” him. Pretty sure I’d mess up.
Well I gave it a shot with a damp cloth. He didn’t come clean. Nothing came off. Whatever it is, it’s permanent so i guess I’ll work on getting rid of that smoke smell. 🙁 The brown spots are smooth and glossy compared to the rest of the normal areas of the sculpt.
