I think you all are enablers.
Seriously.
This little critter will (hopefully!) soon be on her way to me:
I kept going back again and again o look at the pics; it was the red eyes that got me!
Now I am just waiting for it to be 6pm (central) so I can go pick up my Male Black Unicorn from the post office! They tried to dliver today but I was at work so now I have to wait for the postman to get back to the office! TORTURE!!
EDIT @ 7pm: GOT HIM (the Unicorn)! He’s GORGEOUS!!
WindstoneCollector wrote:Grey tabbies! Maybe all black with the reddish tinge? I’d love to have one of those with say orange red and yellow wings? 😳 squeek*
I’d love to see an all black closed eye flap cat with red wings too or maybe one with silver highlights in the wings (not bengal colorings).
So cute!
Cool you know Killer Croc! LOL! She was alot of fun. We did that group at DragonCon which is actually going on this weekend; I am mourning the fact that I am not in Atlanta like I usually am at this time. But, Queenly duties call and DragonCon will be there next year.
Your costumes are great and your son is so cute! If you haven’t seen it already, my friend Maggie has a great site for info on Star Wars costumes: http://www.padawansguide.com/ Lotsa tips & tricks on Jedi outfits on there! 😉
Did a test entry too; looks like it worked for me!
I had the boas custom made by American Plume: http://www.americanplume.com I can’t remember how many plys they were (alot more than they have listed on the website) but I do remember that for 6 boas it was $2000. (Yes, 2K) 😳
LOVE the sketch! Wish there were pics of it in action too!
chrisherself wrote:Welcome! I just got a chance to check out your costuming. WOW!! 😮 I’m so in love with the Pink and Black Diamonds costumes…..FLUFFFIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEESSS!! I’ve done a few burlesque themed costumes, and my favorite to date was a peacock themed one with feathers everywhere, but yours are about 100 times fluffier (i.e., better!) heehee! Congrats on your Uni win and good luck with capturing the rest!
Sounds like we have a bit more in common that just Windstones! 😉 I did a peacock burlesque outfit (for my one burlesque performance I’ve ever done), not too many pics of it (but did manage to get a video!):
You can see the shimmery blue / green of the fabric in this one and my awesome feather facinator
My Pink Diamonds costume has alot more feathers though of course; they are a ton of fun to play with! 🙂 Need to wear it again; they have been hanging out in my closet for far too long!
twindragonsmum wrote:By any chance have you a tutorial for the lovely headpiece in your avatar? I’m always on the lookout for new techniques and tips for costuming…
twindragonsmum :hi:
That headpiece was a complete experiement; I’ve only ever made the one and winged it the whole time. I even tried my hand at sculpting and made the ‘tikka’ (the jewel at the center of my forehead) from sculpty! I was beyond thrilled with how it came out. I don’t have a tuturoial but I do have some photos I took of it that can give a little bit of an idea of how it went together that I can link you to if you’d like; PM me your email address and I will forward! 🙂
twindragonsmum wrote:I luuuurv your “shiny hat” and how fun is that to be Queen! Used to be in SCA but then had twins and my spare time dissapeared…
twindragonsmum 8)
It is truly an amazing experience to be Queen, empowering and humbling at the same time. The best things are being able to recognize deserving people with awards and having the opportunity to get to know so many people I look up to.
Spare time? Whats that? 😉
*happy dance*
Who just won her long awaited first black unicorn (male) on eBay?
That would be me.
Also in discussions with another forumite for a mother, hopefully that will work out too!
Now I just need to find a baby and a young black unicorn (anyone have any ideas?)… oh and a black grand unicorn too but I’ll just pick one of those up whenever. (yeah right. heh!)
siberakh1 wrote:Welcome! Lovely costumes and such a lovely horse! Cool on the SCA. A bunch of my coworkers are in that (Barony of Concordia of the Snows, part of the East Kingdom in Æthelmearc). I’ve had one of them bug me to join, but I just don’t have the time at the moment.
Thanks for the welcome (annd thanks to those that replied beforehand as well!)
SCA can be really time consuming; since Hubby and I are the current King and Queen we’ve been going non-stop since May with only a weekend off here and there. We just went through our last free weekend just now and have events all the way to the end of November.
Every. Single. Weekend.
But I get to wear a shiny hat so it’s ok. 😉 We were just up in the East Kingdom at the beginning of August; if you ever get a chance to go to Pennsic do go. It’s awesome!
As requested, more pics of Max!
This was the first time I ever rode him at a medieval event; can you tell I was concentrating a bit?
I love this pic of him
He was a bit of a punk when he didn’t want to work (he is 17.2 hands btw; this gives you a good look at how big he is!)
But eventualy settled down
I kissed his nose alot
And although this is sad it is one of my favorite pics with him; this was my last few minutes with him
August 31, 2009 at 1:05 am in reply to: Behind the Screen- Real Photos of Windstone Collectors! #586290Glad you guys like the costumes! 🙂
The costumes take varying amounts of time to make and very often I will go back and ‘re-work’ costumes when more information becomes available on how it was made in the movie. I think I remade my Black diamonds costume about 4 different times between 2002 & 2007. Sometimes I can whip a costume out in a weekend, other times it takes me a year or more especially if there is alot of detail work.
I do take commissions but they are on a *very* limited basis; I book pretty far out and am pretty darn expensive. 😳 You can see more on my (sorely overdue for an update) website: http://www.crimsonvision.net/ and you can find more information on commissions in the FAQS: http://www.crimsonvision.net/faqs.htm
I’ve never said this before (EVER) but if you might be interested in working out a trade (costume for Windstones!) I would be interested in discussing it! My wishlist post is here: http://www.windstoneeditions.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4005&start=525#p292664
You are welcome to pm me here to if you rather chat that way.
I swear my picture post wasn’t meant to be a plug; I really do mostly have costume pics! 😉
laphon1 wrote:The operative word is few. From what I can remember 5 were sent to stores for test marketing. When it was decided not to sell the black Grand Unicorn in stores there were something like 13 left at the factory. They were auctioned on ebay. I believe Melody kept 1 for the factory. I can only remember 1 ever being on ebay for re-sale and it was not sold as the reserve price was not met.
Pegasi maintains the database for this stuff. She may have more complete information. This link will take you to the page where the database link is found.

Scroll down to the link. I am sure that someone else could have done this in 1 step instead of 2.
Good Luck and Welcome!
Thank you Laphon for all the information! 🙂
😳
Could someone PM me and let me know how the raffles work? I can’t seem to find that information.
Thanks!
August 30, 2009 at 4:19 pm in reply to: Behind the Screen- Real Photos of Windstone Collectors! #586285Thought I would post a few pics of me. 🙂 I am pretty much always in costume when I am not at my ‘normal job’ or home realxing or sewing so costume pics are what you get. 😀 (Yes, I made all of these costumes btw including the headpiece and hat in the first two pics)
I’ll start with the pic where my avatar came from; me in my ‘Hindi Sad Diamonds’ costume I recreated from the movie ‘Moulin Rouge’ (My favorite!):
Me in my Black Diamonds costume from ‘Moulin Rouge’
Here is one of me from March 2009 when I was Princess of our SCA group (I am the Queen currently)
Thats all for now!
