August 25, 2011 at 7:30 pm in reply to: Art4Love.com Major Art Theft and Copyright Infringements #854358I don’t understand how anyone browsing the site could think that one person produced all of these works of art…. I mean, there are versatile artists out there, but no one is THAT versatile that I know of.
It was a pretty slim chance anyway, but none of my art is up there. I did recognize a lot of the stolen art though, from my favorite artists. I hope he learns why this isn’t cool.
Well, the auction was cancelled early, so I suppose that is that.
I wasn’t trying to start an argument. 🙁 Trying to help. I’m sorry. No more replies from me either. Now to go discuss some other things. 🙂
Apparently there is a time limit to edit a post?
😕
I can’t change my original. But I do apologize for using the word “harassment”, it was not the best choice of words.
Ack, I’m sorry, she never used that word! It was a poor choice on my part, and I used it lightly.
I’ll change my original post to just “messages” which is much more accurate.
Sorry about that. 🙂 And I really am sorry you all have had such a prickly time with her.
I’m sorry you guys are having a bad time with her. The bump up in price (especially when she broke it down on the question/answer page) adds up to me.
I think most of us are used to buying from sellers who already have supplies lying around, and tend not to charge extra. But the cost she broke down for the price increase is logical. She also got all of her supplies (2 boxes, bag of peanuts, roll of bubble) at UPS, and they charge a lot for their supplies.
She _is_ charging quite a bit for shipping, more than I’d prefer to pay, but I can’t get mad at her for following the tutorial to a T, and purchasing the appropriate supplies.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, yes the shipping may be high because it includes the packing material cost, and she paid a premium at UPS for the supplies; and yes it’s kind of a bummer that the buyer has to recoup her the entire cost, but I honestly don’t think she’s trying to gouge. Just come out “even” on what she had to pay to ship this dragon. It’s not the best situation, but I just don’t see any evidence that she’s trying to rip off anyone.
She was thinking to pull the auction because of all the harassment she’s gotten over the shipping costs. 🙁
Can’t we all just…… get along? XD Heheh.
Oh my. In the interest of providing an alternative perspective…
I messaged this seller a few minutes after the auction went up, when the shipping was something around $13. That seemed low to me, so I emailed her about her shipping methods.
I got an extremely polite and pleasant response, saying that she is new to ebay, and her daughter helped her to get set up so she could sell the dragon; she was wary of listing on Craigslist. From what she said, it’s likely that the dragon belonged to her late husband.
I briefly went over what double boxing is, and sent her a link to the tutorial hosted on ebay, the old “official” one that we all rely on. I even cautioned her that the Oriental Dragons are especially prone to breaking during shipping, and she thanked me for the heads up.
All in all she was one of the better ebay sellers to communicate with regarding shipping, and the bump in price makes sense to me. Either she is charging what UPS will charge to wrap up the dragon, or she is charging extra because she had to purchase a bag of peanuts and a roll of bubble wrap, after reading the shipping tutorial and realizing how carefully they need to be packed.
So, if nothing else, this price bump from $13 to $40 suggests that she really is taking the tutorial to heart and plans to ship the dragon properly… But she was perfectly pleasant when I talked to her. 🙂
I know a lot of people on the West Coast experience these kinds of things on a somewhat regular basis. (well not regular, but you know what I mean) For a New Englander, it was like the world was coming to an end! I can’t imagine what a REAL major earthquake must be like… just utter terror, totally helpless, and absoltely nothing you can do to stop it. You realize how small, like a tiny flea, you really are when the Earth gives you a little shake.
I’ve lived on the West Coast all my life and they are no less terrifying to me O.O I hate earthquakes! So viscerally frightening. They really do remind you how insignificant you are.
Sigh! I work all day, so even if I check my mail at 8am right before leaving for work, then get the store announcement at 12pm saying they’ll go in at 3pm, I still am not “allowed” to check my mail until at least 6:30pm and miss them anyhow.
Maybe in the future we can get a teeeeeeeny bit more notice? I’ve been checking the store 5 times a day for a week for them (even without any announcement XD), but I can’t do jack when I’m at work.
I hit the Notify button for sure. I want one so bad! <3 Congrats to all who got one!
Howsabout this blue? There aren’t many blue dragons but I imagine a color pattern like this wouldn’t looks too “unnatural”:
EDIT: Ooh I ran into an even prettier one on TheChive, heh.
The barn swallow color is officially my new favorite. Good heavens I think they’re beautiful!
I’m so with you on that! I sure hope to see more dragons done that way. Maybe some for the store ;)…
Like a Fledgie, especially 🙂
It’s my birthday month too! [cake for all!]
Dra-gon! Dra-gon! Dra-gon!
WHITE Oriental Dragons! I don’t care if anyone says it’s boring, I want a set of Falcor dragons from Neverending Story…
SO
BAD.
🙂
I saw a Young Oriental that had been repainted a pearly white like the production White, and it was downright stunning. Do want.
August 21, 2011 at 5:14 am in reply to: Yet Another Squeak Thread …for Barn Swallow Dragons! #854002Yes, all of this! I also loved the Sea Green color scheme, with the rich jewel tones. The Barn Swallow color and Ocellated Turkey color are just what I love the most–gorgeous jewel tones!
I would RUN to the store if these colors were put on the sculpts I collect. And some I don’t, most likely!
