Better many times than none! 😀
DM,
I am truly sorry if my post offended or upset you in any way. That was not my intent (nor will it ever be on this forum). I just wanted to bring to light a possible situation, as a friend of mind had to once make a very tough decision. I am very sorry, and I sincerely apologize.
…I’m apologizing to any one else, as well. I did not wish to upset anyone.
PM’d you… it seems many times. Sorry! My computer kept locking up. 😳
Thanks, Jen!
Oh no! That’s awful news. Major hugs from me, Dragon. Glad you were able to get off of work. It helps… as this is never easy. 🙁
Hugs to you!!
Just keep it in the back of your mind that her owners may very well be looking for her. During Katrina, many people were separated from their pets. Instead of having to just look in the local shelters, many people had to search shelters across the US! There was an instance where a family finally found their pet, but it had been adopted out. The sad thing was, the shelter refused to overturn the adoption! Imagine losing everything you own, finding your lost family member, but being told you weren’t good enough to have your dog back. I have a few choice words for that kind of shelter, btw. I think that is the cruelest thing you can due to someone that went through a natural disaster. That had to be beyond heartbreaking, absolutely crushing.
I lived to the west of New Orleans. When the evacuation was called, I was lucky enough to have a place to go. My husband and I loaded up the two cars with clothes, emergency stuff, 4 large dogs, 1 cat, and an iguana. I love my Mother-in-Law!! She is the best! 😆 Many people weren’t so lucky and were forced to leave their pets behind. It doesn’t make them bad people. Mandatory is mandatory, and they force you out. If all the pet-friendly hotels are full, what do you to do? If you rely on public transportation, what do you do?
Her owners could have taken her on vacation and lost her. Their home (along with their cell phone) could have burned down (heaven forbid!). What if the new owners did not know she had a chip? Just keep in mind you never know the situation. Are you willing to tell a crying little girl that you refuse to give “Kitty” back? I don’t want to sound negative, that’s not my intent, but this paragraph comes across that way. I just want you to keep in mind that you may have to make a very tough decision if the owners are eventually found. They may not be bad people.
I know it’s really hard when a stray adopts you. When I lived in a more rural part of the state, a pointer/setter mix found us. I’m am positive he was someone’s hunting dog that got lost. He was beyond skinny, and terribly afraid of men (made me wonder if he was abused). Still, we tried to find his owners because I didn’t know the situation, and I don’t like to make assumptions. He could have belonged to some little boy. We put up flyers, checked the papers, the pound for notices, but nothing. One day, not long after he found us, my hubby took him inside and gave him a bath (he stank!!). Once they go inside, that’s it. Something happens, and you consider them part of your family. He is laying at my feet as I type this. If she is already sleeping on your pillows, that bond has sealed! (and I want pics) 😆 I know she has already wedged herself into your heart.
DM, I truly hope Sarabi finds a home with you. I wish more people would open their hearts and homes to strays. By what you have typed, it seems she is a perfect match for you and your household. I know you would give her a great life. (fingers crossed)
long post… sorry. 😳
I also love them both, but I think I’m ever-so-slightly leaning to the one with blue eyes.
How about a reservation list? And I wouldn’t suggest it for the first or even second batches. But if a member still hasn’t snagged a precious piece after the third batch, maybe they could be put on a reservation list or something. Yeah, I know, it’s more work for the staff, but it’s a thought. Or maybe a poll to gauge interest on how many to make?

*drools* That is one beautiful dragon! Congrats and enjoy him! 🙂
AquaSafe, but I use very little because our water doesn’t (well didn’t) have chlorine nor contains a bunch of heavy metals (if it does, it’s never registered). I also use very little because dechlorinators usually add sulphur to the water.
Well, I tested. I’m reading about 1ppm chloramine. This usually means there’s also ammonia present in the water, so I tested for it, too. Sure enough, it’s about 0.5ppm. grrrr… This, coupled with the fact that I also cleaned my baskets really well and did about a 50% change, is probably the culprit. 🙄 I guess no one is ever free from the aquarium learning curve. 😳 AquaSafe says it removes ammonia, so I will up the dosage and do a test on my tap water and see. This is what I get for not testing my tap regularly.
It says: The formula neutralizes chlorine and heavy metals, removes chloramine and toxic ammonia and provides a slime coat to heal and protect fish.
Ooooh, coiled mothers are coming! Please say you’ll make a big batch. 😳
I think I blinked just a little too long and missed them. 😮
Yes, I completely understand about the mane thing (yep, those are green gems). I actually wrestled with it for a while. There was never any planning time for her. The concept of the classic strawberry roan image with the dark head and legs was burned into my brain before I ever opened her box. LOL! I considered making her neck darker for contrast, but I just couldn’t change it. The image was stuck in my head! And I didn’t go darker with the mane color, because I wanted to keep her blonde. I couldn’t name her Strawberry Blonde otherwise! 😆
So the only compromise I could think of at the time was to edge around her mane in a darker color. It edging shows up better in the second picture than in the first, and it’s a little more noticeable in person. But yeh, completely understand. I’ll be sure to plan the others. 8)
Oh, always feel free to give me criticisms or feedback. Some people are sensitive to such things, but I’m always open to it.
I finally think I will pass on this one. Good luck to everyone who enters!! 🙂
