Thanks everyone! I think he is gonna stay the way he is. I’ve had a very lazy day watching it rain, so I decided he is done.

Oh gosh! I really hadn’t planned on banding the other pinions. They ‘pop’ more in the pics I think then they do in real life. I’ll stare at him today and see if I can make up my mind…I have 4 more PYOs that are roaring & neighing to climb out of thier boxes too.

I’m starting to think the beak is too dark??

Just finished! This is done in pastels, as usual, as well as a bit of golden acrylic. I started at the head and did the bird body first, layer upon layer of pastel dust to get it just right. Then I moved onto the wings. Again, I *thought* I knew I wanted to use a strippy pattern. Again, they just didn’t want to work with me. I’m mostly happy with how they turned out. Then, I did the cat portion, paying special attention to the tail and leg areas to be sure they stayed light. After all that I moved onto the claws and beak. I did 2 coats of an antique copper paint on the beak & claws. Then on the beak I added a thinned out gold to add shimmer and did another 6 or 7 coats of pastel dust to tone down the copper. Overall, I’m very happy with how he turned out. Here is just quickie photo, his photo shoot is scheduled for tomorrow.

Thanks guys!! I had a lot of fun doing him up. Initially I wanted to do a lighter tan w/ strippy wings, but then the wolf told me he was supposed to be gray….

Congrats to nessie! I know he will be cared for! 😀

Oh, poor little thing!! When my daughter got her first real flu type sickness, it was aweful too! She is my second tho, so I knew the national guard would not answer my call. I actually had to call my folks to come and get my son because I could not take care of him. He is 2 years older then my daughter. I spent literally 3 days sitting on the couch with Natalie. She bawled every time I got up, even for a second. She hasn’t ever been a vomitter, thank goodness(my son vomits if he drinks water too fast:roll: ).

It can be so hard to watch them be sick or get hurt! My pediatrician is really relaxed too! Natalie actually really hurt her nose not too long ago, it was pretty bad. She hit her nose right on the bridge on the front portion of the couch where the wood frame is, without a cushion. Her nose swelled up and turned purpleand bled off and on for 2 days. I called the doc a lot, but didn’t bring her in once. I couldn’t beleive they didn;t want to atleast look at her, but they were very relaxed about it.

I typically apply a base coat too. I find that my paint or pastel adheres in a more even fashion when I use a base coat. I use either white or ivory, whichever I’m using in my color scheme.

I really love this one! I took my time, and did a ton of layers of pastel. The only acrylic are the shiny white and a coat of metallic white over the light gray on the wings. I did a little antiquing on the white portion of the wings with silver(Golden brand).

Wow, I guess I’m lucky!! I don’t have any wisdom teeth, not a one, not even on Xrays. Thank goodness!! I am very dental phobic and I hate needles and I have TMJ. I get done with a cleaning and spend the next 6 months terrified of my next appointment…

Beautiful!! Now, how long do they take, how many coats, what did you use, etc….?? The blending and finish are so smooth!! Lovely gray/white dapples too!!

Oh, and my fav has to be Acorn!! That sculpt looks so realistic to me, esp the neck ripples and coat texturing!

Hey thanks guys!! It’s really not me, it’s the camera. It takes the BEST close ups!! I bought solely for that reason. It does well on regular photos ofcourse, but really shines in macros!! It’s a Sony H2. I tried 3 or 4 different “SLR-like” cameras and none of them even came close for the price range. I really wanted to get the Canon Rebel SLR, but that was WAY out of my price range!
