Your link is still wrong. I looked in your gallery tho and saw the blue one. MUCH MUCH better! I can tell you have been doing alot of reading and working on your techniques. Kudos to you!
This may be in the wrong spot, please feel free to move it.
I’m thinking about getting an airbrush. I want to get just a ‘starter’ to see how I like it and how hard it is. I mostly just want it to spray base coats. I don’t really have the $300+ to invest into a compressor & sprayer set up right now….
Any brand or type suggestions? How about stuff to stay away from?

No no no, I aspire to paint like you!!
The horn and eyes are masked….
I don’t see any cracks, they must be really small. I don’t have any griffins right now, but I can’t remember ever seeing any cracks on my PYOs….
Almost done….I need to clean up a few areas, some more shading around the mane, fix my poor application on the mane behind the ears(third photo) and do a few more coats of white pastel….
I’m curious if any of you pastel workers could give me an opinion of my work. I want to know what I can improve. Are there any books/videos that you like or that helped you? I’m self taught and I wonder if I’m missing anything key….TIA!
Shame on you!! Look at those innocent pink eyes! I don’t see one mean streak in that little angel!! 😆 😆 😆
I second the throwing and smashing behavior! I have been tempted to start a PYO cemetary in the backyard…
*SQUEAK* A muse!!! I can hardly wait!! Really, I’ll be checking for it everyday!!
Wow, he really does look like pewter! Nice work!
Wonderful!! I love the feather detail! I really need to practice that. This looks hand brushed, is it?
The eyes and the horn are masked. I have noticed other peoples masked areas are opaque, but mine dries almost clear. I’m a little worried about taking it off when I’m done. It ran behind one of the eyes when I was applying it, hopefully I won’t pull the eye out….
Ok, done for today. More shading and darkening up the hooves, legs, mane, muzzle. Please note muzzle is in mid-correction, I messed up with dark grey pastel 😳 …
I have to say, I’m pretty proud of myself! I’m just tickled pink I can actually do a good job with these… 😆
I like the dapples! I also have that same champange pearl color, don’t you LOVE it!
What size/type of brushes are you using to do the stimpling & edging of those dapples?
added some grey pastel here and there, just one coat so far. I’m not worrying to much about the white right now. I will have to go back after everything else is done and touch up with paint and then blend with pastel…
Ok, here are some progress photos. They pretty much all look the same, so I will describe each one…
First coat of Golden Brand titan white…
Second coat of paint…
Slight pinking in nostrils…
Slight pinking in hoof rescess…
First coat of white pastel…
More to come…
