XD I love cartoons, especially the classic Looney Tunes. I own Ren and Stimpy on DVD because I watched it growing up. By the way, I just posted a spectacularly cartoony webcomic in the “General Art Discussion” section of the forum which was created by Katie Rice and Luke Cormican. (They have worked with Ren and Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi on various animation projects) It’s drawn exquisitely and and it’s so creative, go check it out if you haven’t.
I was really hooked on the Showtime series Dexter for a while, but I missed a season after discovering True Blood. 😀 True Blood has a certain campiness to it, but that’s alright with me. As long as the creators of a show seem aware of this and don’t take themselves too seriously, it can work.
Some funny caricatures by Katie Rice of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) from True Blood:

Never did finish the story though. The only other thing I wrote that was close to fanfiction was a “script” for one of my radio, television and film classes. I crossed “Charmed” with a role-playing character of mine.
Ah, the crossover. I haven’t really read any crossover stories yet, perhaps someone can steer me in the direction of some good ones. I remember that I had a friend in grade school who watched Sailer Moon. Believe it or not, I read my first fanfic when I was about 11, and it was related to the Creatures series of computer games. If I recall correctly, the composition was a collaborative effort in which each chapter was written by a different author who was allowed take the story in any direction that they wanted. You can view some screenshots from the Creatures games by visiting my “Creatures Games” thread under “Community.”

Not written by me but I love it.
Oh! I’ve seen that! I read a ton of LotR fanfiction, I’m such a ringer. 😆
I found that particular story by chance while performing a search on deviantart.com for Tolkien fanart. Artist Pika-la-Cynique drew this comic panel based on the story you mentioned:

I mostly read romantic or dramatic bookverse/movieverse LotR fanfics — anything concerning hobbits. 😳 The Library of Moria and West of the Moon sites have some great stuff. As far as Fanfiction.net goes, one of the best stories I’ve read on there recently would have to be In the Gray Twilight by Heidi Gamgee. Click Here! (Though slash themes are present, this story contains no graphic descriptions of sex, therefore I felt that it wouldn’t be inappropriate to provide a link to it on this forum) The best humor pieces I’ve read for LotR were written by an author who calls herself Molly J. Ringwraith. I’ve provided some links below to her parodies of the films as well as to her hilarious “The Lord of the Rings Fanfiction Drinking Game.”The Fellowship of the Ring (condensed film script)
The Ten-Minute Two Towers
The Return of the King (condensed parody version)
The Lord of the Rings Fanfiction Drinking GameNote regarding the drinking game: I’m sure you all know what a “Mary Sue” is. If not, simply click here.
Unsure what slash is? Click the image to find out —>—> Thank you for sharing your brother’s inspirational story LadyFirebird.
Let’s all remember the fallen this Memorial Day!

I’d do everything the way is was recommended, but the creatures would just die, or refuse to eat, or something. It was bad enough that I decided the installation must have glitched, and reinstalled it, but the second one was the same way. (If I recall correctly you could teach them names of items, and I’d train and train to say ‘ball’ for the ball, for instance, then suddenly the only word the thing knew would be ‘treh’ or something – a partial word ‘tree’ that had no relation to the one we’d been working on.) I kept thinking it would be a really neat game if it just worked!
YES! Precisely! The Creatures games were the most torturous and addictive games on the planet — completely counterintuitive. I’d always think, “This is ridiculous, but why do I love it so much?” XD
We could also mention Petz in this thread.

Hi folks! As a fan of Froud’s art, I’m very excited about the prospect of a Dark Crystal sequel as well. Here’s a press release excerpt with updates from dreadcentral.com:
Quote:From the Press Release:
In a joint announcement by Omnilab Media’s Christopher Mapp and The Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson, Australian based Omnilab Media is teaming up with The Jim Henson Company to bring the much anticipated fantasy sequel “Power of the Dark Crystal” to the big screen in stereoscopic 3D. The highly anticipated film will be among the most ambitious projects to ever be produced in Australia.Power of the Dark Crystal will be produced by the Australia based production arm of Omnilab Media, Ambience Entertainment. The Jim Henson Company’s executive producers are Brian Henson, Lisa Henson, and Jason Lust. Omnilab Media’s executive producers are Christopher Mapp, Matthew Street, and David Whealy. Cinemarket Films’ Peter D. Graves (“Terminator Salvation”) rounds out the executive producer team.
Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig, writers and directors of “Undead” and most recently “Daybreakers,” have come aboard to direct the screenplay written by Australian Craig Pearce (“Moulin Rouge,” “Strictly Ballroom,” “Romeo + Juliet”) based on an original script by Annette Duffy and David Odell. The legendary fantasy artist Brian Froud will reprise his role as conceptual designer of the film, which will use a stunning mix of live action and traditional puppetry combined with visual and special effects produced entirely in Australia. Omnilab-affiliated Iloura (“Where the Wild Things Are,” “The Pacific,” “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”) has already begun work on the film’s complex CGI elements. With this team in place, next steps will be to secure worldwide distribution.
“Power of the Dark Crystal is an exciting and ambitious undertaking and, having worked on previous projects with the top-notch talent and crews that Australia offers, we know we have assembled the right team to deliver the sequel to one of the most enduringly popular titles in the Henson library. Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig are sure to create a film that will continue the legacy of the original and exceed the expectations of our loyal fans,” said Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company. “We are especially enthusiastic to be working with Omnilab Media, a strong and growing force in worldwide film finance and production.”
“We are very pleased to be producing this wonderful and fantastical film in Australia. The Power of The Dark Crystal will showcase the depth of talent Australia has to offer up on the international stage, including the extremely gifted directing team of Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig. The Jim Henson Company has consistently delivered an amazing range of entertainment over generations and is an iconic creative studio that we are proud to have partner with us,” added Christopher Mapp from Omnilab Media.
Michael Spierig said, “We feel a tremendous amount of responsibility in telling this story with the same meticulous care that Jim Henson and Frank Oz gave the 1982 original.” Added Peter Spierig, “This is a chance to take the world of puppetry into the modern age by using modern techniques (like motion capture CGI) and the tried and true methods (like puppetry and animatronics) to create a one hundred percent real world that is unique to ‘The Dark Crystal’.”
Set hundreds of years after the events of the first movie when the world has once again fallen into darkness, “Power of the Dark Crystal” follows the adventures of a mysterious girl made of fire who, together with a Gelfling outcast, steals a shard of the legendary Crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet.

Yes, I know! That’s why included it. 😆 I figured you’re probably still in the process of trying to narrow down the design, so I thought it would fun to put my two cents in while mentioning a subject of interest for Windstone collectors. I know that my tendency to fill threads with pictures is rather eccentric, 😳 but in this case, I couldn’t resist. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and I felt that this was the most effective way to throw some design ideas around. Thank you for your response, it was really sweet. I realized while working on the post that I was inserting a lot of pics, and I wasn’t sure whether or not it was going to make people mad.
Outstanding job, gorgeous colors! I think I’ve seen Harmony Kingdom collectables before a while back. It might have been in this high-end drug store that also sold perfume, collectables, and Folkmanis puppets. I spotted these stylistically quirky little boxes (very pricey) and I wanted to pick up a few for my grandfather because he loves odd-looking sculptures of frogs, birds, gnomes, etc. I was with my mom that day and we were in a hurry though, I forget why. So as I was saying, the finished PYOs look great, you should be very proud. I’m groovin’ on your hummingbird, of course. 😀 What would you charge for these if you were to sell them?
Pam Thompson wrote:The spotted uni is sold, but the striped one is still here.
Oooh! I wish I could afford it — I’m out of extra . I just discovered this thread, silly me. 😆 Thanks so much for sharing these sneak peeks with us Pam!
😀 They need to know that we all appreciate their hard work; tell them we’re singing their praises! 😀
I just picked up the second season of True Blood on blu-ray. I haven’t opened it yet, but I’d better hurry; the third season begins next month. Does anybody here watch that show? What are your favorite TV series, past and present?
