Honestly, I would love to see a production color in something that dark. That’s why I loved Mulberry Wine so much. I know we have Black Gold, but it’s not quite the same.
Yeah I agree, I loved the Mulberry Wine color too. The emperor probably isnt that dark in real life, but it would be cool if he was a little darker than usual.
I’ve always been drawn the darker color Windstones- almost all of mine are, I have several Black Gold pieces and almost all of the black/peacock griffins. My Silver Lap and Red Fire OW stick out like sore thumbs in my cabinet hahaha.I just hope I can get this guy I’m buying the emperor from the compromise a bit. I asked him if he would meet me halfway since its a long drive to where he lives (more than an hour one way- and I have been feeling under the weather) and his version of meeting halfway is a town 17 miles from where he lives. We’d still have to drive more than 50 miles on our side. Oy. Have to try this again but at the same time I dont want to irritate him since hes got the dragon, but I am paying him in full and with cash, so I dont think its too much to ask.
/rant lol.KoishiiKitty wrote:i am pretty positive that what you are seeing is just being of the paint, possibly the clear coat, spraying un evenly because of how difficult the area is. the color is because of the un-eveness of the paint. I am almost positive that just about every ow/lap/ and so on will have the same thing in the same spot. I am sure one of the painters that actualy do the airbrushing can explain better then i though.
But it looks like dust. Like hard, rough, cakey dust that is frozen on there or something. Its got texture, its not just a color. And its pretty obvious too. I dont know what to do.

Yeah I will give him a good inspection before I hand over my payment. He lives about an hour away from me, so I think it will work out nicely that way and then I dont have to worry about him packaging it.
And here is the picture he sent me;
In this pic he looks BLACKHe does look very dark in the picture but I figured it was probably just the lighting. I’ve seen some pictures before where they looked unusually dark, BT’s Lost World on ebay has a picture of a peacock emperor that looks similar.
RiDuvessa wrote:He looks darker in that picture then most Peacock Emperors. I wonder if it’s the light. You’ve got a really good find! Congrats!
Thanks! And yeah, I’m assuming it was the lighting, but we’ll see when I meet up with the guy- probably tomorrow.
Kachina wrote:My ruby has that as well. I just figured it was because they (previous owner)obviously didn’t take care of him and since I didn’t want to use anything too abrasive to get the stuff off I’ve just left him that way. Canned air and q-tips or paintbrush didn’t budge the stuff and I don’t want to try anything harsher for fear of stripping his paint. It reminds me of a thin coat of motor oil sludge. It’s not exactly sticky, but dust has stuck to it. About the same color, too.
Thats strange. Yeah mine couldnt have a been a previous owner sort of thing since I had WolfLodge100 order it for me straight from the factory and she shipped it right to me when she got it.
Wow, RiDuvessa, the silver male is very beautiful. And you are quite right, he is much prettier in person than on the website.
KoishiiKitty wrote:if it feels dry but rough, i would say that is pretty normal. that is a harder spot for the air brush to spray paint evenly and so it often is left with a rough feel. my ruby lap has the same thing in the same spot.
Yeah it does feel that way, but its not just the way it feels- there is dark grey gunk all in the crevices. If it just felt funny I wouldnt care at all, but that grey stuff is stuck on there, thats what I’m concerned about.
siberakh1 wrote:Is it sticky? If it’s just rough, but dry, it may be from the painting process. I have a windstone with a spot like that on it, but it’s not a red fire, so I can’t be sure.
Yeah thats exactly it, its rough and dry and dosnt want to budge.
Kyrin wrote:Contact Windstone…they might want to simply replace him.
Kyrin
Yeah, maybe so. Its too bad though, I wish I could just fix it some how, I’m madly in love with him and dont want to see him go but if that spot isnt going to come off then I dont think I could live with it/overlook it.
I just got a Red Fire Old Warrior dragon in the mail about 2 days ago and when I was first looking him over after taking him out of the box, I noticed he had some strange, rough spots with grey gunk stuck inbetween where his neck starts and the two crevices where his wings start and spread up and out.
I dont know what it is, at first I thought it was just dust but it dosnt come off when you move your finger along it and its rather rough and pretty thick in there. Any ideas for how I should go about cleaning him? I havnt touched it because I dont want to use the wrong cleaner and hurt him- not to mention its in a tough spot to clean.

Me too! He looked like it from the photos though!
mmloda wrote:Congrats…..I hope it all works out for you and the Emperor comes home with you…
Do you know what ather two pierces he had or has for sale?
Yes- he had an emerald mother dragon- though she had two fair sized chips on the front of her tail, and one of the wizards- I dont like them much so I didnt pay any attention to him. He has a blue and purple cloak.
Dragon Master wrote:I hope he is in nice condition. I think I’d be scared to buy from a garage sale w/o seeing him
I know, but he showed me pictures and he looks beautiful and he had two other Windstone pieces and he disclosed their flaws so I think I’m in the clear. But if I meet up with him and I see he wasnt being honest then I’ll just take my money back home with me.
travistie wrote:Congrats on the good find! 😀
Thanks! 🙂 I’ve been running around the house like a madman since my husband agreed to it. And when I saw it last night/talked with the guy I couldnt sleep I was so anxious/excited about finding a way to get him!
I am so excited!!! I just found someone who was selling a mint condition old peacock emperor dragon for $200 at a garage sale!! I talked with him about it last night and just sent him the ok a few minutes ago. Now I just have to work out where to meet him to pick it up and pay!!!
It took a lot of convincing with my husband though- especially since I just got my Red Fire Old Warrior in the mail 2 days ago. The deal was I cannot buy anymore Windstone Editions pieces for 6 months (except for the black sitting griffin chick) since I am getting the emperor- but god, what a find!! It will be my first emperor dragon, I’ve always wanted one! This has been my dream Windstone piece for as long as I can remember!I sent you a PM!

Very true. I went to a few stores today to look for a new cabinet but they are hard to find! Especially an affordable one.
