Awww…she *does* look like a lil’ angel. Very sweet! I really like the white/light colored color schemes on these wolves. I like the wings a lot.
Thanks again so much for your thoughts, guys! I really do appreciate it. Hopefully I’ll have my KiRin done tonight.
Thanks everyone. Hmmm…you know I never thought that he resembled wood, but now that you guys mentioned it…yeah, I guess he does. 😯 Weird.
Yeah he’s slated to go on eBay tonight, did one of those prescheduled auction things for him.
Yes, I used airbrush on only his base coat. He was coated in a solid shade of a coppery red color with an airbrush. Then I did everything else with paintbrush and pastels.
Well, here is my first pyo. Unfortunatly my pyo shipment came in before my paint shipment, so I’ve had a rather limited color palette. But, I didn’t wanna wait. 😛
When I sat down to start this one, I imagined a black dragon with a slight reddish metallic tint to his scales, like he’d be black in the shadows, but when light hit him the red tones would come out. My finished product came out more bronze, which I am not exceedingly pleased with. I only had one shade of red paint to work with, and to give it a metallic twinge I added metallic copper, which of course I’m sure is what made him end up looking more bronze than red. I also think that I perhaps did not make certain areas black enough, and all together put too many highlights in his paint job. His color came out a lot like the hippogriff that I painted and I didn’t want that. Hopefully next time my finished product will better match what’s in my imagination as I think I’ve learned quite a bit from painting this one. I don’t dislike how he came out, which is why I left him as is, he’s just..you know…not what I had in my head. 🙄
But anyway, let me know what you think, be it good or bad.

Yep, they remind me of winter. And I agree with everyone else that you did a superb job with the antiquing, especially on that dragon!
Ski I think he is lovely! I love those colors. Throw some beads around his neck and he’ll be a Mardi Gras dragon! 😛 I also had an idea in my head to do a creature in those same colors. I was thinking a Ki-Rin. I think it looks really good on a dragon!

I like the way the eyes look too, so I’m not scratching the paint off. I don’t know how you did it, but it still looks like there’s depth there. He’s just gorgeous, Unicornlvr. Thank you!
Sweet!! I’m glad it got there safely and you are pleased with him! Thanks so much for buying him, I really appreciate it, Emerald!!! 😀
Agreed, you’ve managed to make “boring brown” exceedinly beautiful! I love it and the irredescent on it is awesome! Great job I think!! 😀
February 24, 2007 at 8:48 pm in reply to: Need help with this one…might want sun glasses on. #543433I like the color scheme alot. Honestly the only thing I would change is that darker gold/bronze highlight around that one eye. That doesn’t really appeal to me personally. I like the side where it’s a lighter color around the eye. Other than that though I think he looks really good!!

While I also like the high quality food, Solid Gold donates next to nothing to shelters.
Quote:…sorry you read my post wrong. I was not implying that YOU liked pedigree in any way. I was simply putting my own personal feelings out there in regards to the company. It wasn’t directed at anyone specifically. I know you never said Pedigree was good, I wasn’t saying that you did. I wasn’t saying it was wrong for you to say that buying to donate it to shelters is good. Sorry, I really wasn’t saying anything *to* you. I apologize you read it incorrectly.
As far as donations go, I guess I don’t care that Solid Gold doesn’t donate. All I care about is that their food is helping my animals. Donations don’t really sell me on a product (not saying they do for anyone on here…just saying they don’t for ME)
I guess I will have to start figuring out how to talk better on here. Evidently I’m making it seem sometimes like I’m talking to a specific person when often I’m not and I certainly don’t want to offend anyone unintentionally. I apologize again for any confusion. 😉
Lovely!! I really like the little brindle markings around his eye…it’s kinda a difficult color to paint too and you did awesome! Good job!
I can’t get your website to pull up for me. I think it’s my firewall stuff though. This stupid thing is always giving me problems. I’ll try it again later, but am interested to see what horses you may have for trade. 😉
Anyone going to watch the Academy Awards this year? I will, only because Ellen Degeneres is hosting. She is so funny I think.
Got any faves? Here are the ones I want to win:
Best Picture: Little Miss Sunshine
Director: Steven Frears (for The Queen…I luv tha tmovie)
Actress: Helen Mirrin (The Queen)
Actor:Forest Whitaker
Animated Film: Happy Feet (UGH….Cars though…it’s just too hard a choice in all honesty. If Cars wins I’ll be really happy too though)
Those are the categories that I really care about.
😉February 22, 2007 at 11:38 am in reply to: Dang pedigree pulled out all the stops with this one #542250Ugh…don’t even get me started on Pedigree. I dislike them. By-products galore. They are one of the McDonalds of the dog food world. A few years ago I read a book about what was actually in some pet foods. This author did some research and found out that many dog food companies were actually putting dead dogs and cats in their foods and I remember that Pedigree was one of them. These companies bought the carcasses from vets, shelters and such after they had been put down. Gave the shelters/vet clinics a bit of cash. No questions asked. Turns out they were processed in with the dog and cat food. This was a few years back, I have no idea if they are still doing this, but the book taught me how to read pet food labels! I wish I could remember the name of the book, I’m sure I still have it here somewhere though.
I now only feed Solid Gold brand. It’s all human grade. I cannot even tell you how awesome it is. My dogs hardly shed anymore except when blowing their winter coats, and even then it’s still not nearly as bad as before. And my dogs used to scratch and naw at their sides, with what the vet told me was allergies. Since they have been on this food that has dissapeared! I could not believe it! I also give them a SeaMeal supplement that solid gold offers, just as lil’ somethin’ extra. Beautiful coats, great energy, less stool, I just can’t say enough good things about it. I choose to feed my dogs this but I don’t look down on people who choose to feed pedigree or other mcdonald’s type brands. I never recommend these brands but I never tell someone they are a bad owner for using them (in case anyone felt like that’s what I’m saying). Definantly not. The brand of dog food a person chooses to feed does not determine the quality of their pet ownership.
Yeah, I guess it’s good they try and give something back to animals. Every little bit helps, almost no matter where the funds are coming from. But those commercials don’t phase me at all in regards to feeling like Pedigree is a caring company. They’d have to make exceptionally drastic changes at this point to impress me the slightest. To me, they do it just for the marketing and the “awww, that’s sweet” factor. I’m synical though. 🙄
He is exceptionally beautiful! The way you did the light colored scale detail is awesome. Antiquing? Whatever it is….it’s lovely.
