  • in reply to: Airbrush questions??? #562584

I use an Iwata HP-C. I used to use a Badger brand airbrush (can’t remember the model). With the Badger I used Liquitex bottle paints thinned down with the Liquitex Airbrush medium so the paint would be thin enough to run through that airbrush.

I did not have any luck using the Liquitex with my Iwata aibrush. The paint was just too thick.

For my Iwata I use Golden brand paints, the ones that are more thinned down and come in the bottle ‘squeeze’ type tubes. I also use Golden Brand airbrush medium to thin the paints down a little bit more too. It’s easy though to get the paint thinned down *too* much so I’ve learned, and when you paint the colors come out too transparent and all runny. Hard to deal with when painting sculptures. πŸ™

    I collect:

    -Windstones

-unicorns (I’m picky though…I don’t like unicorn figures that look ‘cheap’)

    -Pembroke Welsh Corgi anything

-Walt Disney Classic Collection sculptures (just the figures from my favorite movies…working on Bambi right now)

    -resin model horses

    -ACEO’s

    -art in general

-Breyer Halloween series model horses (I had forgotten about this one until I saw lamorte mentioned it below!)

Oh that is a fabulous idea! I think he is awesome!! Did you think about using Apoxie sculpt or anything to sculpt on the indian feathers or did you always just want to use real feathers? And the warpaint idea is the icing on the cake.

    He really is b-e-a-utiful. πŸ™‚

He is beautiful! I love the silver horn!!! I think if it would have remained gold it would have clashed with the color scheme big time.

in reply to: I just couldn't resist… Sorry Unicornlvr #559736

    Hi!!

Sorry, I just read this post, I’ve been so crazy busy! I’ve got this mural deal I’m trying to finish up. The people just keep adding stuff to it! It’s killin’ me…

Awwwww, thx for posting you guys! You are very kind, and I really appreciate all your lovely comments.

The buckskin one was actually a commission, so he’s not for sale. πŸ™‚

Yeah I honestly had no intentions of posting any sort of advertisments here about my non Paint Your Own Windstone repaints. I’ve read that the company frowns upon repainting them, so I didn’t want to draw alot of attention to the fact that I’m doing it. I know I said I wouldn’t do it anymore after I repainted that hippogriff and then saw where they frown upon it. Obviously, this makes me a hypocrite. Sorry. I thought about the issue for quite some time and as long as it’s not illegal I don’t see a problem in doing it. I’d stop doing it if it is in fact, illegal, or if I get a big backlash from Windstone collectors about it.

I dunno. That’s my feeling on the issue anyway. I’m sorry if some people feel it’s disrespectful to the company but that’s really not my intentions. I advertise it as custom painted, I try to do my research and not make a color close to a windstone color, I really am trying to be as respectful about it as I can since I know they don’t really like the fact it’s being done.

    But, on other issues..

I’m about to email everyone who’s got a commish with me right now. I missed giving you guys updates last week but I’ll get to you here shortly! Thanks for your patience! If you’re reading this and haven’t recieved an email from me yet, I promise I haven’t forgotten about you, it’s just this flippin’ mural! Should be done this Sunday though.

Awesome. I’m glad you guys are doing this again!

Ooooo, maybe I’ll get Ski and will have the excuse to paint something pink! 😈 πŸ˜‰

Lookin’ forward to it, no matter who I get!

in reply to: Somebody seems to have had fun with the airbrush… #552279

Well, honestly they all look the same to me. πŸ˜› With lighting conditions I can’t really tell if some are painted darker than another or if it’s just the light hitting them differently. The lil’ white chicks just don’t really do it for me. I’m waitin’ for brown ones or maybe one day, black ones!!

I kinda like the fact that you can order two of the same color windstones and yet it’s possible they will be slightly different colors, based on how much shading or highlighting they got, ect.

OMG, that really sucks for the seller too when you think about it. Her “duh” mistake cost her 3 Windstone figures and $200+ ! Hopefully she’s learned from her $200 mistake.

Glad you got it all figured out bluepony!

in reply to: 2 PYO Kirins to eBay #551431

awwww, THANKS you guys, you are so sweet to say such things! I really appreciate it!!

Well Romeodanny you got that commission space in with me so if you want a pinto just jump on the pinto bandwagon! I think 90% of the orders this round of commissions was all for pinto Kirins. Just let me know what you end up deciding!

I’m glad you guys like the red one! Do you think I should start omitting the designs down the sides of the Kirins? I can’t decide. I was just trying different things to make them not so plain, but then I think, well, maybe people would prefer no detailing like that down the sides. I dunno.

I’m out of Kirins unfortunatly. πŸ™ Kinda sucks too because I’m inspired with that appaloosa idea someone threw at me. I think that would be cute. My best friend wants me to paint a blue eyed black and white splashy pinto next. So I dunno what I’ll end up doing at this point.

Thanks everyone for your support, it really makes me feel good about myself and I do appreciate it so much!

At this point, I’d just be happy with any secret keeper. I think the white one is my favorite. I hope they are somewhat close to coming out with the lighter weight castings.

in reply to: Starling Gryphon all finished! #551811

He is lovely! My favorite thing about it are those shimmery colors all along the feathered body. The colors fade into each other so smoothly!

in reply to: So Angry I'm Breathing Fire #551928

    OH bluepony, that S-U-C-K-S

The picture of your headless white male is downright scary, like Hannibal Lecter scary. 😯

Weren’t you at one point looking for damaged Windstones though?? πŸ˜› eh, j/k. sorry, I know now is really not a good joking time, right? πŸ™„ Trying to cheer you up a bit!

I do hope you get the situation figured out with your seller. Buuuut, I’m going to throw my opinion in the mix and say that *IF* this seller turns out to be quite apologetic and very helpful in getting the situation taken care of to your liking, I’d leave him/her positive feedback. Let’s face it guys, some people just aren’t very smart. And some people are not avid windstone collectors. It is very possible this person did not have enough wits to think that packing three dragons in a box is a bad thing. If this seller gets you all taken cared of and they are nice to you and apologetic, my opinion is for positive feedback but saying that items arrived broken, blah blah.

When you are buying something from someone, it is the interested buyer’s responsibility to actually read what has been written in the feedback statements. That is the whole point of the feedback comment. If it were just ‘positive’, ‘nuetral’ or ‘negative’ that mattered, then what would be the point of being able to leave any writing in a lil’ box? It’s for situations like this, I think. Where yeah, the items arrived broken, BUT, the seller took the time to care for me and fix my problem to where I’m satisfied in the end.

Just my 2 cents. But Bluepony, you do whatever you want girl….it’s you situation. And of course, I wish you the best of luck in it. I hope this gets better for you!! πŸ˜‰

in reply to: Commission Status: I'm Booked. #551672

Ski this go round I was just doing a flat rate of $100.00 for whatever a buyer wanted. I was offering discounts just trying to get a few commissions orders in to hopefully build up my windstone pyo portfolio a bit. When I get the chance to take commissions again I will probably bump up the prices but I’m not sure how much. Maybe $150-$200 for a pinto of this same type but I’m honestly just not sure. My schedule April-July is going to be really crazy and I may not be able to take any more commissions until after the summer is over. I’ve got a bunch of model horse stuff going on during that time and I’ve booked another 3 mural jobs. I’m still planning on putting pieces on ebay fairly reguarly though.

in reply to: Commission Status: I'm Booked. #551667

Just wanted to make an announcement for those interested in my PYO’s:

Thank you everyone who has wanted a commission! Since I listed the lil’ pinto Kirin I have now become booked. Everyone wants a lil’ pinto!! Thank you!!

If you’d like to be on a wait list, please send me a message! Once I’m done with my orders and whoever is on the wait list, I’ll post a message here in Flea Market as to when I can take more commissions.

Best of Luv to you all!
    Many Regards,
    Jeanette/UnicornLvr

Arlla…hush right now before I find a way to get to you and then shove a baby griffin chick in your mouth.. 😈

Like your Frodo is not the coolest Kirin ever. It is inspirational…I know…because it inspired me. You could paint a pinto Kirin with your eyes closed.

    Much luv to you. πŸ˜‰
