My $1.05 about glass cabinets/shelves. I really like mine and I’m not afraid of glass, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind:
1.)The shelves are only going to be as strong as the holders that that hold the glass. Make sure the holders are metal. I have found some of the cheaper makes of furniture have coated plastic plugs the same color a metal, so don’t be fooled.
2.) Make sure the glass is tempered. And of course, as many people have noted don’t overload and make sure the weight is distributed evenly.
3.) My shelves are square and are supported from underneath by rubber stoppers (not plugs). Glass can bow a very little bit to handle weight, but the longer the glass (i.e. rectangular) the less weight it can hold.
4.) All glass and especially tempered glass can break if a sharp point hits it near the center. I have a small figurine that likes to fall over every time I dust it. I don’t think it has enough momentum to cause a problem, but I have be more careful with it.
Here are my shelves. I don’t remember the brand, some Fred Meyer (all goods) store brand I think. They were designed to be one side of an entertainment center so they are pretty solid.

well for ME anyway, though i’d love to try! i’ll try and make a mess, lol! i don’t have an air brush, nor do i care to own one. heck, i’m a sculptor not a painter anyway! good for you kyrin if you can pull that fabulous subtleness off, i look forward to seeing yours and everybody elses! do you normally paint horsies? this will be so different to see how everyone deals with painting a totally different kind of critter, especially now, giving the horse painting folk a great chance to shine! squee! i can’t wait to see!
Yeah, I’ve been painting and drawing horses since I could pick up a pencil. I absolutely love horses, and can’t wait until we can get some fences in so we can have them again.
Anyway, drybrushing really lends itself for things like dappling…there are a bunch of ways you can go about getting a dapple effect. I’ll see if I can do a WIP for you guys when we get the unicorns.

Actually I have owned five different oriental dragons since starting collecting!
The first one I got was an old jade that was quite badly broken. That’s the one I repaired, and am still in the process of repainting.
Then I got a different peacock one, also broken but not as bad, which I fixed up. I was going to repaint that as well, but ended up selling it to somebody else.
Then I bought what I thought was going to be a jade dragon in mind condition, which turned out to be an emerald. (oops!)
Then I arranged to exchange it with somebody who liked emerald better than jade, so I got a jade dragon at last.
And I bought an old dark peacock in close to mint condition on ebay a little bit ago as well.
So I’ve had five, but right now I have three, the repaint, the jade, and the peacock.
Thanks for the update. I really like the oriental dragon. I’m looking around for one for a repaint as well. When you finish yours up you need to post pics! 😀
Yes, thank you for sharing pics. I love seeing what everyone has and how they display them. You have a lot of variety in your collection.
However, I’m a little disconcerted about how it appears you have your unicorns in a cage. Are they that rambunctious that you have to lock them up? (j/k) 😆
What type of house plants do you have? They look really healthy.
No doubt! You know, I’m sure the Em Pea male dragon is worth at least $650 by now since it’s only been out for a few months. 😉 😆

DM, you posted your glee under topics that had nothing to do with your win. They were other peoples topics about other things. Thats why people got annoyed. Folks are still gonna post new brag topics and you can too. Just dont go into other topics and brag if you have already started a thread about it. You know what I mean?

Well said. I think that is the main point, that it just doesn’t keep spilling over into other threads that were not on the same/similar topic. I don’t mind this thread at all, but at least it is giving me the choice to choose to see it or not.
DM, don’t feel bad about bragging, especially about your dragon, but just do it in the appropriate place and time. 😀
