Oh, too bad. I had a male and female unicorn that were smashed. Actually mainly the manes were broken. I gave up on them and threw them out. I didn’t think anyone would want to piece together a thousand pieces to fix them up. The rest I’ve fixed myself except for a frog prince but, the toe isn’t that bad off.

Hum, yes thanks for snitching it at the last second. 👿 Just kidding you really must have wanted it more than I did. 😉

Oh, so pretty. I wish I had some money. I’m broke and if I win the few things I’m bidding on ebay then I’ll be really broke. 😥

From what Melody mentioned before, it really shouldn’t…which is why its kind of strange that you’re seeing that problem. Its possible that the paint on your emperor was a bad batch or something…

Its probably worth asking Melody about this since they typically want to get pieces with problems back to the factory so that they can figure out where the problem came from.

I would like to know just to satisfy my curiosity. It was love at first sight with my black griffin (and all of my pieces) and I wouldn’t send him back to the factory. If he was brand new, it might be different, but he’s already a “teenager”.

No I don’t think I would send him back to the factory. I pulled up a catalog from 1992 and he looks just like that one except the gold is darker and if it wasn’t for that one rust looking spot he would be perfect. (I don’t care about some gold rubbing off) 😉

Eek! That sounds rather unpleasant…but I guess a space heater and the window AC that you mentioned would help a lot, especially if you stayed in that room most of the time.

So in your case it sounds like there are big temperature swings and if the gypsum stone and the paint were expanding/contracting at different rates then that could cause the paint to flake. It sounds like Lamortfille might have the same temperature swing problem that you do, but to a much lesser extent since she likes to keep the house warm in the winter…and it also sounds like her Windstones have less freckling than yours, so there might be some correlation. It’ll be interesting to see what Melody says about this issue at some point…when things are less crazy for her…

The funny thing about that is it’s just my Emperor that is like that. But, maybe because he’s older then the rest. My Peacock Male isn’t bad at all. And he isn’t that much younger. I try to keep them out of the sun to minimise sun damage but, I’ve never thought that temperature and humidity would do that much damage.

Hmm….does it also get humid where you are? Sounds like it gets humid where lamortefille is too…

What does the humidity do to them?

Well, I’m not sure…but both you and Romeodanny have seen this fleabite problem and you both live in areas which are considerably more humid and with bigger temperature swings that I get out where I am (and I’ve never seen this problem), so I’m guessing that the humidity might be what’s degrading the paint…the bigger temperature swings might be a factor too, unless you guys always keep your houses at a fairly constant temp throughout the year via heating/AC…

Unfortunatly I can’t control my temperature that much. I don’t have AC and my heat is controlled by my landlord. That means that some days it’s very hot and some days it’s freezing. Even if I had AC I would have to use the window AC so I would only be able to afford one room of AC maybe I’ll move all of my Windstone to my bedroom and buy AC next spring.

The last few years it has been very humid. Well, also the temp. can be anywhere from -30 to 40 C. What that is in F? I couldn’t tell you.

Same thing here – I just figured the color difference on my older peacocks was due to age. Some of it is age – the gold is starting to wear off in spots. Anyone else have older pieces? Have they developed “freckles” – small spots of paint loss that can’t be attributed to knocking something into the piece? My black griffin has a few on top of his head.

My emperor is about 10 years old and he is quite a bit darker than the new ones. I noticed it the most when I added the OW to my collection. Some of it is age but, I don’t know. Mine does have freckles The most noticeable one is one by the left wing. It’s completly rusty coloured. The rest well the gold is worn off in some places. I don’t know how that happens.

I’m sorry Cheryl, I just couldn’t help myself. I think it’s just too cute.

Dude, I so agree. Yes, that’s how I lost my #7 BEP OW :'( Now I have to settle for some random number. Boo hoo for me lol Sniping works!

Hey I did not snipe. Sniping is when you bid just before the auction closes. I bid the same day as the bid closed but not just before. If I did then you wouldn’t have been able to push the price up again. And you were so very very close to outbidding me too.

Dude, if your unicorn hadn’t been sold, I NEVER would have said this! I knew you’d sold it already though.

I didn’t think it was polite of me to clutter up the forums with threads for things that would take two messages on a thread that’s already there.

I’m really sorry, I didn’t think it would upset anybody.

It’s alright, I didn’t take it that well this morning I was really mad it took me an hour and a half to calm down enough to post that. I’m sorry like I said I didn’t say it to hurt your feelings. I know it was to just save space. That’s alright. I just have to remember breath in and out and count to 10. Now you know why I’m not a mother. I’m really not upset about it anymore. I guess I’m just frustrated. Sorry again.

$9000? I don’t have that much credit. Not even between two credit cards do I have that much. (Well not until they are paid off..then I could buy one or more at this price. Really too much credit.)Not a chance.
