Awesome!!! I don’t have a scanner, but I’ll see if I can recruit my brother. He’s savvy with computers. π
Of course the money could be used for annoying bills, rent, and essential but perpetual charges that already leave a not-happy taste in the mouth of many… (course I’m thinking on a rather mercenary level there.) But if it’s a luxury, not a necessity, telling the rude giver to mind their manners and take themselves and their money elsewhere, would be gratifying on the principle of the thing.

“If someone is telling you that they’re basically going to give you hundreds of dollars, they could say pretty much anything [to you] and not be rude.”
Keeping in mind that the person saying this was completely serious, what do you think of someone who says something like that?
I would personally think that someone who said that, had a genuinely dumb idea. But it’s hard to figure out their general character from one single bit of dumbness. I’ve known absolutely sweet and ethical people that I’m honored to call friends to have painfully bad blindspots.
But if the context was the giver being rude to you, you being offended and discussing it with the person who said that, who then casually brushed off your concerns, that’s a bigger issue. IMO it’s the duty of friends and family to be sympathetic, even if they clearly and openly don’t ‘get’ or agree with your reason for being upset.
I found two on that site that are actually rather heartwarming. Hope this isn’t too off topic…
Candy Store | New Jersey, USA
(A man comes to my register with a mint chocolate candy bar.)
Me: βAnything else?β
Customer: βCan you break a $100 bill?β
Me: βActually, I canβt. We just opened and I havenβt gone to the bank today.β
Customer: βOh, no! Do you know anywhere I can get change? I need this candy right away!β
(At this point I notice his panicked look. Coupled with the fact that heβs buying the most unappetizing candy in the store, I jump to a conclusion.)
Me: βSir, these arenβt for you, are they?β
Customer: βNo.β
Me: βDid your pregnant wife send you out at 8 in the morning to buy this candy?β
Customer: βYes.β
Me: βFor the love of God, man! Get these home to her before youβre in even more trouble! You can come back and pay me later!β
(The customer bolts out the door. He later came back, visibly calmer, and paid.)
And then…
Movie Theater | London, UK
Customer: βTwo tickets for Star Trek, please.β
Me: βThat showing has sold out, sir.β
Customer: βWhat! Thatβs impossible!β
Me: βThe IMAX is very popular sir. I am afraid we donβt have any more seats until tomorrow.β
Customer: βI need to see this movie! Youβre not a Star Trek fan. You wouldnβt understand! Please sell me a ticket!β
Me: βI would love to sir, but the needs of the one or the few do not outweigh the needs of the many.β
Customer: *recognizing my quote from Star Trek* βI see. I suppose I couldnβt say that sometimes the needs of the one or the few do outweigh the needs of the many?β
Me: βNo sir, that would be quite illogical.β
Customer: βHmm, youβre good.β
Me: βI must have the lobes for business.β
Customer: βTwo tickets for tomorrow then, please.β
Me: βVery good, sir.β
Customer: βLive long and prosper!β

I go out on Black Friday every few years, just to remind myself of why I usually don’t. Regrettably, this was a ‘reminder’ year. π
I got out at 10 am, avoided the worst of the feeding frenzies, and checked out two stores with $10 doorbusters of quality hoodies and toolboxes. Both were very much sold out. (I think the little items were hotter this year than the TV’s and such) Left empty handed as I refuse to buy into the ‘bait and switch’ thing where stores lure people in with dirt cheap deals, conveniently only have a few in stock, then offer very similar things for double the price.
But a nice (little) chain store I know had a coupon so I got a book I had been wanting, (for little more than the cost on Amazon) acquired fast food coffee, and fled home.
Ack. Working Black Friday in retail has got to suck. Crowds rattle me. I make a conscious effort to be mellow and polite with clerks (and fellow shoppers), but even then I’m far from perky.
At least I learned my lesson for the next five years. π
And thanks for the link GB, http://www.notalwaysright.com is flipping hilarious.
I’m in! Love the color, and am rather fond of the sculpt. π

We keep discussing fun stuff to do, like auctioning a fuzzy on ebay that comes with a “mystery companion”. I have a feeling ebay doesn’t like weird auctions like that, though.Oooh, that sounds fun! I’d hope it’d be allright, a fuzzy with a ‘free gift’ or ‘mystery companion’ is an honest description and certainly seems more legit than other things on there… jars of dirt, ‘haunted’ rings, etc.
Only thing is, I think everyone would want one! π
It’s retina searing in an awesome way. π
It’s nice to see griffins become a bit more widespread. But when animal anatomy in a sculpture is slightly off, it makes me want to chew through drywall. And with these little guys, it’s off. I like that they’re griffins, they’re nicely dramatic, but… π
Got pics!
I sent Xtharsa a Muse and this photo for inspiration
And here’s what she came up with. The Muse arrived safely, and she did an awesome job. A lot went into this painting this little critter. I love how the colors are bold in some areas, mellow in others, and how it all goes together.
The photos here are a little overexposed due to lighting so they don’t quite do it justice, (the background is black, in real life the Muse is a little softer looking) but it still shows the idea.
Thank you Xtharsa! π
Congrats Jasmine! Looking forward to it as well! π
Hee hee hee… love the silliness. Looks like you may need more chocolate! XD
Leigha wrote:So, for those who have donated already…what website did you use to donate? I need ideas.
Well, I donated to http://www.heifer.org/ but I think a few pages back, some members suggested their favorites.
Also I googled a little, and found this: http://www.charitynavigator.org/ I haven’t had time to review it well, but it looks like it could be useful. π
Thanks guys! π
Well, Idaho’s a wee bit far for a road trip, but if they want to get their feet wet, posterboard behaves in a fairly similar fashion to sheet metal. I sometimes use it for complicated patterns. If they try that, become and remain fascinated, I can rummage up some info for you three. π
I like the soft blending contrasted with the crisp, sharp edges. And the hint of metallic blue is quite complimentary, resembling the natural sheen of black beasties.
Thank you all! π π³ π
Thanks Jacki, I hope you enjoy them. π
@Ladyfirebird, I can make critters as small as 2×3 inches, but they have to be one piece and a simple design. Between four and eight inches is my usual size range for copper critters, it lets me get nice detail, without being tricky. The wolf and dragon are unusually large for the medium. Their size is what let me make them as complicated as they are.
