The medium tip chisel style paint pens work the best on these guys.
You may have some trouble getting the ruby paint… they used different paints on the rubies as they evolved from what I understand. Windstone prefers to send paint swatches when they ship you other things, otherwise it’s costing them to ship. Guys, remember that Windstone does this to help out but it does cost them money and they don’t do this as a ‘normal’ thing. 😉
Is this the ruby OW you purchased from a store, or though eBay? I’d be a little upset about the markings on this guy.
I completely understand Jennifer. I would offer to pay whatever retail price for the paint would be plus the shipping cost. I’d be so grateful to have matching paint I’d definitely not expect a freebie. I’m going to wait until my chipped rainbow mother gets here before I write so that I can send some clear, outdoor lighting pics of the color spots in question so I can see if they can help with matching up some paint.
This is the OW I purchased from headlines. I went back and looked at that tiny picture this morning and saw the scuffs, too. Looking at their other used pieces, they do mention if there’s a chip or if there’s any damage. Since they didn’t mention it for this guy I assumed he was new, just an old display piece they hadn’t sold yet. I don’t feel like I can complain since I only paid $260 for him, about $40 less than the average I see if you can find one for sale. If he had arrived with actual damage I would definitely complain. I would buy from Headlines again, but I will definitely ask beforehand if the piece is mint or not. Especially if it’s full retail price or above.
I was able to get 2 different sizes in the paint pens today and will give those a go later this evening.
I can see how I’ll be needing a bigger house soon. I think the birds are going to have to share their play room with the dragons before it’s all said and done. 😆 To be fair, you all warned me when I joined that this was addictive!
Does anyone have pics of the newest batch of pink curls yet? There are only a couple left in the store and I want to grab one if they’re the lighter pearly pink.
It’s a great visit if you can make it. I always enjoy watching them work the glass when they blow by hand. It’s amazing the things a skilled person can create. I haven’t been for a while but I’m hoping to take my husband this next summer so he can see and be mesmerized. We love that sort of thing.
I found a couple really cheap from the same store where I found my rainbow mother. I hope this is okay for me to post.
They DO have damage to them, from what I understand just a small chip on each (I have not seen them), but she’s heavily discounted them and it sounds like they’d be easy to fix. They aren’t on her website so you’ll have to contact her directly. She’s real sweet.
They’re marked down to $80 each plus $10 for shipping.

She does ship outside the US, but it does cost more.Thank you! This is hands down my fave of all the Windstone pieces. Figures my dream dragon was limited to a very small production. 😥
Congrats! You certainly were a beautiful bride! Thanks for sharing some pictures with us.
Looking for a peacock and an emerald old warrior. Prefer factory mint but as long as you’ve got the original box I’d be willing to consider damaged pieces discounted appropriately.
As far as the silver prototype, I know this is a long shot. If anyone has one or knows of someone who might be willing to part with theirs please PM or email me. Serious buyer, and I have bought from forum members before with no problems.
Let me know what you have. Thanks! 😀
Ow wow, I love all those rainbows together in one spot. It’s like happiness overload. 😆
Do any of you guys like or collect Fenton glass? They’re only an hour from here an I’d be happy to make the trip to get pics of sale items or look for special pieces for folks.
I’m almost ashamed to post my pitiful collection. 😳 I bought my first Windstone on the 5th of January of this year, and this is what i have so far.
(RF mother special #4, burnt sugar poad, silver male, and silver curlie with lavender eyes)
(silver lap, pink curlie, ruby male, and silver curlie with blue eyes)
My ruby OW
I also have an RF and a white OW on layaway with Dave that I really hope I can get paid off in a couple weeks, plus a rainbow mother on the way from a WV dealer.
February 8, 2008 at 12:59 pm in reply to: My Ruby OW made it – and a question for those who repair #662958Excellent, thanks for the tip! I don’t have a Michael’s but we do have an AC Moore and I’ll be down there today to look for these. I will have to write to Melody and see if they have a small amount of the ruby I can scrounge off them for the couple small rubs on that color he has.
Thank you, I sure appreciate the help.

And a pic of that handsome face. 😀
February 8, 2008 at 11:19 am in reply to: If you could choose a Production Secret Keeper color? #662501That’d be really cool Pip, if we could each get the color we’re wanting. I know Melody said she didn’t want anyone feeling obligated to buy something, but even if it came out ugly as sin (is that even possible for an SK? 😆 ) I’d still love to have a ruby SK in my collection.

She’s very sweet BDW. I bet you were really excited to see she’d finally made it. Great pictures too. It’s hard to capture all those colors but you did an awesome job.
February 8, 2008 at 10:07 am in reply to: My Ruby OW made it – and a question for those who repair #662955OW arrived yesterday, I swear it feels like Christmas every time that truck pulls up with a Windstone for me on it!
He was double boxed, including his original box, but there was no plastic between him and his box. I think that’s the cause of several rubs on him, mostly to his gold areas though there are a couple on his red. At least, I HOPE this happened during shipping. It sure wasn’t mentioned to me when I bought him. Plus the tag and bottom felt are in near mint condition so that gives another reason to suspect movement in his box as the culprit. He is covered in dust as well but I plan to use some canned air and some soft bristled brushes to clean him up.
How do those of you who repair touch up their paint? Can I purchase this through Windstone so that I get an exact match? And how about a new plastic bag for him so that in case we ever need to move him again he’s better protected? Can we buy boxes and bags too?
And what’s the best way to go about doing this? Can I do it with a brush, or do I need to suck it up, buy an airbrush, and learn how to use it? I just don’t want to ruin this, and I really don’t want to ship him again to have someone else do it though that would probably be the best option.
I’ll post some pics of him after I get him cleaned up. Poor guy is a mess and it makes him shy.
