That cat is me. COMPLETELY. Let’s just hope I do a little better come NaNo day one!
Stephanie, that is so cool! I did NaNo the first time when I was fifteen, then the year after, at sixteen, went to the TGIO party and was the youngest person there. It was strange; I’d expected to have a bunch of other teens show up, too. It’s just the kind of crazy thing you do when you’re that age, you know? That’s why it’s so great that you got your kids involved. They sound pretty stoked about it, which is wonderful! And taking the leap yourself for the first time is awesome, too. It’s an amazing experience.
Aww, I totally understand how that goes. I nearly didn’t participate in NaNo last year ’cause life was so crazy. Silly life.
I know some of you participated last year: Doing it again? Any newcomers? What are you writing about???
I am excited, as ever. This year I’ve succeeded in corrupting a couple new folks into the madness (my boyfriend being one of them–I’m hoping if he’s involved in his own novel, he won’t feel so bad when I ignore him for a month XD).
It’s going to be more hectic for me this year, as I’m a full time student and work at Windstone three days a week. Plus, I have no idea what to write about yet. Getting ahead of things by outlining or something would help endlessly, but so far, I’ve failed.
My dirty trick this year is, I think, to compile a list of prompts. Each time I run out of steam I’ll just refer back to the prompts, and I’m hoping that’ll keep me writing. What about you? Any tips or tricks up your sleeve?
For people who have no idea what I’m talking about, just go check out the link.

I seem to remember on one of my favorite author’s web site reading a note that the major character in the series they were writing originally started out as an RPG character. I wish I could remember which one though. 😆
Huh… that’s not surprising. I know a few self-published authors who have characters that started out in a RP universe. I know that the entire Dragonlance series was started as a tabletop RPG. And then there’s the Dungeons and Dragons books–pretty obvious where those came from, hehe. But those books are all very clearly RPG based books… All high fantasy. I wonder if anyone has written a regular fiction book with a character based on one they role-played with at some point? Probably not… since most RPs are fantasy-ish, hehe.
First off–oh my gosh, I forgot about this project and thread and now that I come back to it… you have all given me so much invaluable input I can hardly believe it.
Thank you, all of you. Not only have you guys given me a lot to think about, I’ve learned a lot just from reading your responses. Also, I’m beginning to wonder what sort of similarities and differences there are between RP characters and characters in an ongoing story or novel. Perhaps this is fodder for another article!
We bought this boxed pad thai from Trader Joe’s, and it’s pretty good! It’s just the noodles and the sauce, and then you add your own vegetables and chicken and stuff. I’ve found that it works for lunch okay.
Omnomnom… chicken pesto pasta! I want some now…

so, saying your 6am visitor aimed to volunteer as breakfast is not exaggerating.(ever since my friend told me this I forced myself to sleep with a closed mouth)
Huh… there’s this “fact” that they print on the insides of Snapple bottle tops–it claims that over an average human’s lifespan, that human has eaten at least 8 spiders while asleep. Maybe it’s true!
Oh my goodness–what kind of fish are the orange ones? Are those rainbow trout too? I don’t know much about fish, but I’m curious about that bright blue one with all the orange around it…
Haha, by the way… If you took the pictures out, your post would almost read like some kind of awesome freestyle poem. 😀
My first inclination was to say it looked like a hobo spider, too… but then I saw that the matter had already been discussed. Haha.
We have a bunch of hobo spiders here in Corvallis. They weren’t around in Los Angeles, but here… all over the place. We’ve run into at least four since moving, and there was a dead one in the sink when we got here. Yum. I reeeally don’t want to get bitten by one, it sounds nasty.
By the by–does anyone know how people tend to get bitten by hobo spiders so often? It seems weird to me since they are the sort of guys who like to run around in open areas rather than hiding in dark places like, say, black widows. It’s easy to stick your hand into a dark place without looking and get bitten by something, but it seems like if the spider was running around on the floor… you could just avoid it, smash it or put it outside or something without touching it. My thought is that it’s easier to step on them by accident–or maybe they just like to snuggle in bed… hehe.

That thing on the ceiling is awesome… I want one for my bedroom. Congratulations on the wedding!!!
Well… today we were lame and just ate supermarket sushi. And tomorrow I will make sandwiches… nothing too exciting.
Have you seen those hotdog octopi they have on Lunch in a box? They’re really ridiculously adorable. It’s something about the way they curl that’s pretty realistic, too.
Oh my gosh, between the both of you I think I’m covered for the rest of my life! I’ll have to save this list for future reference! Cheap, easy food is a wonderful thing. And it looks pretty healthy, too. Love the idea of putting frozen fruit in yogurt to keep it cool… I never thought of that!
I’m off to go look at Lunch in a Box!
September 10, 2008 at 11:37 pm in reply to: DUHN DUHN DHUUUUUUUNNnn….Pizza delivered safely. #691485THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!
Susie doesn’t lie, Adam and I are at home doing school stuff, but when my dad came to pick up my mom he brought us a whole box! Yummy! And it was Hawaiian, too. How did you know we like Hawaiian??? Delicious!!!
Hey guys! What are your ideas on portable lunches? I ask because we’ve got the fridge set up at Windstone and can start bringing our own lunches. I need ideas! PB & J can only go so far. Also, school starts soon and I will have to make do with only a backpack and no fridge on two days out of the week!
I love the idea of bento boxes, only I haven’t usually got the time to make one. For those who don’t know, bento boxes are a Japanese style of lunch that’s packed into a little tupperware-ish box. They’re usually incredibly cute and full of decorated fruit and such. But the idea of a box seems to make sense!
Anyhow– what do you guys do for portable lunches?
