This is cooler!!!
What I have done with him so far! Do not adjust your sets! Yes, he is changing colors!!! When he’s done he will be my Chameleon Emperor!
MODERATOR’S NOTE: Repaints are heavily discouraged!! They can cause copyright problems for Windstone! However, thank you drag0nfeathers for clearly labeling her photos as a repaint! 🙂
PERSONAL NOTE* I do not plan to sell this once it is finished. Chances are that it would rebreak in shipping anyway even if I had planned to because of the damage. So just as a side note and in respect of Windstone, please don’t ask me to make you one. Thanks so much! 🙂
Clearly, this is an UNOFFICIAL REPAINT (I put little images on the pictures as well, but photobucket takes a few minutes to play catch up sometimes, but they should pop onto the images shortly)
***PHOTOS REMOVED TO AVOID DRAMA, Sorry guys… If you wanna see, you’ll have to message me :p

July 28, 2014 at 12:09 am #916531This is incredible. I want to second Celestial’s request, can I see the finished product? I would never have the courage to do a repaint or a rebuild, but I find this whole process of restoration fascinating.

Uh, I’m seconding the second! Or, would that be thirding Celestial’s request? I’d love to see completed photos as well – should I just PM you dragOnfeathers? 🙂

I actually sodl him on ebay like… oh geeze. 2 years ago maybe? I can post photos of him, but as he was so extensively damaged he did become a repaint. ( I already think I mentioned that in this thread, didn’t I?)
I can post photos one day when I get out of work. They are in my photobucket buried somewhere!

July 28, 2014 at 11:17 pm #916613LOL! No problem, I’m sorry I didn’t even notice this thread being bumped till just a little while ago. >_<
Oh and Thank you! I'm glad my tutorial helped… maybe I should to a repair one for youtube? Like a 10 or 15 minute one or something. It's probably easier to get the idea if you actually saw me in the process of doing it instead of seeing still photos.
I am fixing a castle right now, maybe next time I get a busted gargoyle, dragon, and griffin, I can do one for each texture!? Oh! That sounds cool! ^_^
I'd need a camera man…. hmmm… wonder how willing my boyfriend would be to help me out with that.

Dreamscape, Orion, Poison Dart, Fireberry, Spangler + Tigerberry DragonsJuly 29, 2014 at 12:50 am #916619No, no, its perfectly fine. I’m sure you are quite busy. I’ve admired your work for quite awhile – in fact, it was seeing your Labradorite griffin on deviantart that lead me to Windstone.

July 29, 2014 at 12:51 am #916620That would be neat to see a Repair tutorial vid! I have a few pieces that have chunks out of wings or parts of ridge scales missing and chipped. I’ve decided to try fixing them when I get a chance, although that might not be for a long while (like late next year maybe?). I’d love to see your process! 🙂

Labradorite? You might be thinking of Jennifer Miller. I don’t think I’ve ever done a griffin in that color.

July 29, 2014 at 3:15 am #916632Damn, drag0nfeathers. Wow. This guy is GORGEOUS. The deep purple works just so wonderfully on him. You have some exceptional talent there, my dear.

July 29, 2014 at 3:35 am #916633Can you get the color changing paints from DickBlick? I’ve also seen mentions on threads of ‘Auto’ paints (shifting and sparkle types), are these actually from car dealerships or car body shops? Is there a specific brand to use – I didn’t think auto paint were acrylics or could be used on PYO’s?

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comJuly 29, 2014 at 3:45 am #916634I dunno, auto paint seemed to work pretty awesome on him! LOL! The “magic invisible paint” is auto paint. Oil based or latex paints probably are not a good idea on these, but the auto spray paint (which is what I used) worked fine. Technically it was still a form of acrylic I believe. I think the brand was Duplicolor, something like that.
