Ditto thatโ€”really hampers your production and youโ€™ve got a lot of demand here! Hope you solve this problem soonโ€“why did your supplier change the formula on the gypsum when it was working so well for you before? ๐Ÿ™

I think some of the problems may have to do with the humidity? There was no humidity to deal with in LA.

What about the fact that it rains more frequently in Oregon than it did in California? Gypsum is a porous material, isnโ€™t it?

Right, thatโ€™s my point. Itโ€™s way more humid in Oregon than in LA.

From the little bits and scraps I know about gypsum and preservation of itemsโ€ฆ a big dehumidifier might work, if you turn it on and shut down production for a few days to let the humidity level settle. But the problem would be dehumidifying the whole buildingโ€ฆ it is a rather large building isnโ€™t it?

Or maybe create an enclosed space just for drying. Easier to control the humidity and temperature in one small area than in the entire building.

Another thought โ€“ what is the source of your water? If itโ€™s not deionized (filtered) there could be some trace metals or salts that are interfering with the new gypsum formula. Just a wild idea.

Like a clean room! only for Windstones!

Has this been tried yet Melody? Perhaps your adoring fans have combined their brain power to give you a possible solution to your woes?

This is a great topic ๐Ÿ˜€
It brings up another point about humidity affecting our sculptures. Not hijacking the thread but,a couple of us live in the deep south. You can cut the air with a knife. When hurricanes and such take out the electricity for weeks at times, will that damage ours over time? ๐Ÿ˜ˆ The air is damp when the air cond. isnโ€™t on,cause those *pinholes* or such to develope? I just started my collection this year, so it got me to thinking about it after reading this topic. ๐Ÿ˜€ good one ๐Ÿ˜€
Should I box them up during those times?
Any input, people in high humidity areas? ๐Ÿ˜‰
WILL it hurt them? or will the seal yaโ€™ll use, protect them?

oh yeahโ€ฆIโ€™d have so much fun ^^!

Is the problem more with drying or the tiny imperfections created when they pour the molds, such as bubbles and whatnot?
Right about now, Iโ€™d take a few Griff PYOโ€™s with bubbles and whatnotโ€ฆImperfect or not, theyโ€™d still be fun as all get out to paint! I have so many ideas for them that it makes it hard to think around those ideas and about daily things I need to do! ๐Ÿ™„ XD

                  Bodine,

I was out of power for 7 days with Gustav. My windstones are perfectly fine. Part of my popcorn ceiling crumbled off due to the humidity (Iโ€™m not kidding), but the windstones are unharmed. If there are any changes, I canโ€™t tell.

                    Hi there Bayou!
Oh THANK YOU! What a relief. The air is so moist this year here,I canโ€™t wear make-up at all. My air is broke in my car and I literally have a small towel handy for my face ๐Ÿ˜ˆ I was afraid the moisture in the air will hurt them during long term power outages.. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ humidity!
