She does collect Windstones. Not to the extent that I do, but I do try harder to get the ebay pieces she likes when they pop up. I prefer to give maybe one or two large gifts a year rather than buying birthday and xmas gifts.

She can be difficult to shop for. So in order to get really good gifts sometimes I have to spend a little more. I think you should not waste your money buying something for someone unless you know they’re gonna like it. It’s a waste of money to buy stupid cheesy gifts that their just gonna hate.

I like pretty much all of Melody’s griffins. But I should be good for a while because I just won the Blue eyed Hawk guy a week or so ago. he is lovelier in person that his pics led on, and I was very taken with his pics. 😀

Sun Dragon Koi #3November 25, 2010 at 11:42 pm #822690My grandma never wanted to buy me the emerald emperor for x-mas because she said it was too expensive ($230), so instead she would buy me a smaller $100 windstone plus $130 worth of other stuff that I didn’t really want. I know, it’s the thought that counts
🙂
November 26, 2010 at 9:30 pm #822691I know it is the thought that counts 🙄 , but I feel that if you’re going to spend the money anyway and the person you’re shopping for wants one big item instead of many smaller items, that’s okay. However, as a child I had a hard time convincing my grandma of that too. She’d spend the 230 but it would be on many things…lots of them were things i didn’t eve want. But she loved me and that really is the important thing.

Sun Dragon Koi #3November 27, 2010 at 10:36 pm #822692Expensive isn’t always what determines a good gift. Our friends once bought us a little flushing toilet bank. We had so dang much fun with that thing!
November 27, 2010 at 10:48 pm #822693My grandma likes buying sparkly sweatshirts, jeans that are too small, and little ceramic nick-knacks.

This is true. My grandpa had a penguin games where the penguins climbed up the stairs and then raced around to climb up the stairs again. I could watch that for hours. And then was the Darth Vapor Bank. Every time you put a change in it would swivel, Vader would raise his light saber and say, “Luke I am your father.” i was great.

My aunt used to get us earrings made of belt buckles and sweatshirts that would get us picked on in school, luckily my mom never made us wear them!!

My art: featherdust.comNovember 29, 2010 at 6:42 am #822698LOL Belt buckle earrings? Interresting. Sounds heavy. I have two cousins in my age range. One is my age (24) and the other one is 21. Every birthday my grandma sends us each a $15 check like when we were kids lol She’s retired so its all she can afford but its amusing-when I was 10, $15 was big money! I could buy candy and go to the movies and have some left over. Now its like “aww…” its cute. And still appreciated! Of course with today’s movie prices, $15 will just get you in the door. Geeze louise, the last time I saw a movie (Easy A-totally worth the movie ticket price BTW) it cost NINE dollars to get in! NINE! A few years ago it was $5.50. After that I decided the only movie I’m paying that price to see in theaters is Breaking Dawn when it comes out. 😀
